Username and Paid Editing[edit]

  • In case you are being paid to produce Wikipedia articles (as an SEO strategist), you should carefully read the guidelines for COI and WP:Paid-contribution disclosure (which is a foundation policy). The information below should give you what you need.
  • Also, your username is probably in violation of the wp:Username policy because it appears to represent a company, not an individual. Usernames that are company names are considered promotional. Follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Changing_username, in particular see the fourth point under "Alternatives to consider." LaMona (talk) 00:33, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Seostrategists. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. LaMona (talk) 00:33, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, as you did at Latitude Group, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. This also applies to your edits to London & Country Mortgages, Draft:Thomas Sanderson (company) and related articles. I'm making this a final and immediate warning. Your behaviour as an obvious but undeclared paid editor, your user name which is the name of a company which offers a package of 800 backlinks on Wikipedia for £19.99 (seo-strategist.com) means that you are not only in violation of our user name policy, but in violation of our terms of use. Voceditenore (talk) 10:57, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Voceditenore. I've now changed my username so it sits within the rules of the username policy. I have no affiliation whatsoever with that website, though I can absolutely understand why you would think I would based on my old username. No one is paying me to make these edits, and I'll ensure going forwards that I keep within the guidelines on soapboxing, promotion & advertising. Thanks for taking the time to review.
