Hello, Brentxphillips,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Elmidae and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, AI for Good (disambiguation), for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion.The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click Publish Changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Elmidae}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Elmidae: Thanks for the note. I'm a novice editor and don't know how to leave comments (via editing page source and etc), I hope this works. It's nice to meet you too. Relative to the original AI for Good article, I feel that it should be titled something like: "AI for Good United Nations Initiative". This will free "AI for Good" for information on the topic itself. Any thoughts on how we can improve things? --Brentxphillips (talk) 02:31, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that with respect to current Wikipedia content, "AI for Good" and that UN platform are pretty much synonymous. As in, there are currently no other articles covereing a different topic of the same name. A disambiguation page is only needed if there are several existing articles for a term - if these don't exist yet, we don't have a disambiguation until they are created. - If there is only one other article, disambiguation is usually dealt with by a line on top of the article that is considered to be the "primary" (i.e. more common) use of the term, noting that "For different topic also called X, see <article>". Once there are three or more - e.g., also for the UK initiative and the charity - then a separate disambiguation page becomes a consideration. In that case I'd suggest naming the disambiguation page just "AI for Good", and the others "AI for Good (UN Initiative)/"...(UK initiative)"/"...(charity)".
The main point being, we only use disambs to direct people to other WP articles, not to content elsewhere on the web :) --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 20:32, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:AI for Good (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
