Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... Hello, I cannot seem to upload images to wikipedia, as it says I have no permission. I have made more than 10 edits and my account is more than 4 days old. Also I cant seem to figure out how to add pictures to my template. Thanks in advance [[1]] Carlgallagher2 (talk) 07:52, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect that the "permission" does not refer to being autoconfirmed(which you are, as you know) but to the image itself. What is the type of image that you are trying to add?
Are you associated with the college you are editing about in some way? 331dot (talk) 08:24, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot No I literaaly cant even choose a picture to edit. Here is the picture https://imgur.com/a/wRJm7VM Carlgallagher2 (talk) 08:32, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But what is the type of image that you are attempting to add? And are you attempting to upload it here, locally, or to Commons? 331dot (talk) 08:39, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
no the picture i linked is before i even try to add anything. As soon as i press on the upload tab it comes up with that. My goal is to upload a simple png file Carlgallagher2 (talk) 08:43, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that, I would like you to describe the image you are attempting to upload. Did you take it yourself? 331dot (talk) 08:55, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No I found it on the schools website Carlgallagher2 (talk) 08:58, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is what "permission" refers to. It is very hard to upload an image that you did not take yourself. You need evidence of "permission" from the copyright holder, or need to demonstrate that the image was released with a licence permitting its reuse. Since you are trying to do this for a draft submission, my advice is to just wait until your draft is accepted before worrying about images. Images are not relevant to the draft submission process, which only considers the text and sources. Some types of non-copyright free images cannot be in drafts at all. 331dot (talk) 09:05, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but i havent even been able to upload any image. I cant choose one from browser because as soon as i press on the upload tab to try and choose a picture, it says that, i havnt even shown wikipedia the picture Carlgallagher2 (talk) 09:07, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I would suggest that you wait until your draft is accepted before worrying about images for it. At that time, you can ask for help at the Help Desk where you might be more likely to draw someone who knows more than I do- but there is no technical prohibition with your account preventing you uploading images to this Wikipedia. It's possible that there could be a larger bug(though I haven't seen any other reports about one) or something wrong with the settings on your computer/device. 331dot (talk) 09:15, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
