Question[edit]

Hey, are you the IP editor that was going to register? --NeilN talk to me 00:14, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I thought that was obvious enough since I did it immediately after saying I was going to go do so, so I didn't mention it. Convictions Are More Dangerous Enemies Of Truth Than Lies (talk) 00:16, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, with that name you're going to attract more scrutiny and suspicion of your edits. Regular Wikipedians are suspicious of editors with names that suggest they're here to promote a cause or to soapbox. Totally up to you, but you can request a name change at WP:CHU or just create a new account. If you decide to create a new account, let me know what it is. --NeilN talk to me 00:22, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's a rather famous quotation. It has nothing to do with politics. Convictions Are More Dangerous Enemies Of Truth Than Lies (talk) 00:24, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, just a suggestion to make your experience here a bit easier. --NeilN talk to me 00:28, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note that this username is actually too long :/ Usernames are not supposed to exceed 40 characters. -- Diannaa (talk) 01:22, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you allow usernames over 40 chars to be created then? It's not inflammatory or anything, it's a famous quotation, and it's about science, not politics or anything like that. Convictions Are More Dangerous Enemies Of Truth Than Lies (talk) 02:02, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to make a friendly suggestion that you peruse WP:BLP, as we behave with care concerning "red flag" words like "Nazi" and "fascist," and claims like that can be subject to removal if not sourced with care. Coretheapple (talk) 02:23, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You also must not remove other editors comments as you did here. I am going to put that back. Please don't edit-war over this. Coretheapple (talk) 02:25, 10 December 2015 (UTC) That was an accident. sorry. I am a pacificist and would never dream of engaging in war, friend. You need to understand that the article talk page is not a forum to espouse your opinions. WTF does being to the left of Genghis Khan even mean? Nothing. Stop disrupting the talk page with your original research bull plop. Doc talk 05:30, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
why so angry, doc? Maybe a course of psychotherapy or psychoanalysis, even, is in order. Cheers! Convictions Are More Dangerous Enemies Of Truth Than Lies (talk) 05:34, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I still think, by the way, that I was being overly fair to Trump with that proposed text. Trump is, by any standard of comparison, *significantly* to the right of Adolf Hitler, not "*just*to the right of Hitler". And I only added the comparison to Khan because I didn't want to be accused of being partisan or Violating NPOV. I guess sometimes you just can't win.Convictions Are More Dangerous Enemies Of Truth Than Lies (talk) 05:48, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NOT3RR, #3. "Reverting actions performed by banned users, and sockpuppets of banned or blocked users." We can do this all day long... Doc talk 08:37, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Information icon Please refrain from using talk pages such as Talk:Donald Trump for general discussion of the topic or other unrelated topics. They are for discussion related to improving the article; not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See here for more information. Thank you. -- WV 05:33, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That wasn't what I was doing. In actual fact, I suggested quite specific text be inserted into the article describing Trump's position on the left-right political spectrum, to the right of Adolf Hitler and to the left of Genghis Khan-- a position representing the consensus of most working political scientists as to Trump's place on the left-right political spectrum. Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did at Overview of gun laws by nation, you may be blocked from editing. Meters (talk) 06:31, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, I think it is you who violates neutrality by not mentioning the reason there are gun laws in the first place, but I will let you slide this time, friend.Convictions Are More Dangerous Enemies Of Truth Than Lies (talk) 07:34, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
