Declined new article
Hi David how can i get my article published https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Diddi_Srihari_Rao
How can i make changes to the article submitted, do i need to add any in specific — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diddi ct (talk • contribs) 04:50, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Diddi ct. You must read WP:YFA. Specifically where it states that 'Articles written about living persons must be referenced so that they can be verified. Biographies about living subjects that lack sources may be deleted' and the 'Are you closely connected to the article topic?' section, and the 'Articles about yourself, your family or friends, your website, a band you're in, your teacher, a word you made up, or a story you wrote' section. I was wondering, why did you try and write a Wikipedia page without even trying to read up on how to do so? David.moreno72 04:59, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the response David, this article is about my grand father, who was dead in 1980s. I'll go through the list of requirements for publishing a person's page who is already dead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diddi ct (talk • contribs) 05:10, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

Regarding 50/50 Press Wikipedia Page
This short article has 25 citations from at least 15 different sources. Please explain what should be done to "improve citations" as all the citations have been published by reliable sources and not the business' own webpage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mecassid (talk • contribs) 16:21, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Mecassid. 'Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject'. Reference 1 starts with 'Our dynamic creative team' Clearly not independent. References 2, 3, 23 and 24 are the subjects own website. Clearly not independent. References 4-22 don't mention the subject and reference 25 is a brief mention. I also notice that you are closely associated with the subject. Wikipedia is not for promoting your business. I do not have any direct association, except that I was asked to look and helped with the design of the site, and became aware of him and wanted to write. The issue at hand is really about how I could write and contribute because as we stand, I believe my writing did not violate any copyright materials, subsequently should not be barred from moving it forward and being green lighted. I am interested in resolving issues, and not arguing back and forth with you guys. You have requested certain things be done, and I have complied. Are there any other issues that my contribution? thanks OB — Preceding unsigned comment added by Olieboyd (talk • contribs) 15:42, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Olieboyd. I'm sorry, but you DID violate copyright laws. At the bottom of the page that you copied from was a copyright notice, which means that under no circumstances are you permitted to copy material from that website. The policy of Wikipedia, per WP:DCP, states that only material that 'carries a copyleft notice compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License, or you have explicit permission to use it' is permitted. Also, per WP:REUSE, the text MUST be properly attributed. Thank you David.moreno72 03:42, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018
ACTRIAL:
- WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
Deletion tags
- Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.
Backlog drive:
- A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
Editathons
- There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
Paid editing - new policy
- Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.
News
- Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
- The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

I will withdraw the pages you have rejected. However may I respectfully and positively make a suggestion please?
The Wikipedia policy with regard to 'notability' is entirely understandable and desirable in general. However I suggest that there are circumstances where the policy is not quite appropriate.
My reasoning is as follows. Yes of course clearly it is desirable to have multiple sources and lots of scondary sources. So, for example, a biography outlining multiple personal attainments is clearly and desirably verifiable from many sources. However in situations similar to the ones you have rejected from me i.e. awards from a single and highly regarded but specialist organisation - there is, and can be, only one primary source and necessarily all secondary sources are derivative from that primary source.
So by applying the existing policy you are debarring some legitinmate and important material from Wikipedia pages. As a newcomer to Wiki editing I have no idea how to influence general policy but perhaps you do? I would be interested to know of your reaction to my comments
Ian.Kirkland76 (talk) 14:21, 29 May 2018 (UTC) Ian.Kirkland76 (talk) 14:21, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Ian.Kirkland76. The WP:GNG requirements are one of the key foundations of Wikipedia. As a reviewer, I often see articles that will likely never satisfy the requirement, but if it wasn't enforced, Wikipedia would quickly become bogged down with articles that most people would likely never want to read. Wikipedia is, above all, an encyclopaedia. The WP:GNG requirements maintains the high quality and popularity of Wikipedia. It is what sets it apart. I think it very highly unlikely that it will be changed. If on the other hand you can demonstrate that the subject satisfies WP:GNG, then the likelihood of the article being accepted goes up exponentially. Thank you. David.moreno72 15:27, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your prompt reply. Without wishing to be bothersome - given the criteria how does
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nobel_laureates_by_country comply with the notability requirements? The requirements are supposed to independent of content (of course few prizes or lists match the importance or presitige of the Nobel Prize). The references to sources on this page depend entirely on the primary source - the Nobel Prize committee.
Please understand me - I don't ask to challenge but to understand. Ian.Kirkland76 (talk) 17:40, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

(Re-)reviewing an article for creation (please!)
Hi David,
A few weeks ago I was creating a page for Melbourne University Rugby Football Club, and submitted a barebones version while I was writing out the rest of the current content. You were AMAZINGLY fast to review the article (within about an hour! thank you!) but unfortunately the version you reviewed was the barebones version (essentially a blurb and a skeleton with hardly any references). I'm now concerned that I've muddled the version history somehow (since I was editing at the same time as the barebones article for creation was declined), and that the article is less likely to be reviewed because it was already declined.
Would you possibly be able to have another look, and let me know if there is anything obvious that needs amendment?
Thanks!

Your draft article, User:Saleht/sandbox
Hello, David.moreno72. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "sandbox".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
, {{db-draft}}
, or {{db-g13}}
code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 22:37, 3 June 2018 (UTC)

- Mattcardew (talk · contribs)
Hi David, thanks for the quick article review. I understand your reasoning for more sources in a complete article, but it didn't think as many were needed for short stubs? Looking at the company stubs list, many have 2-3 sources and the first stub had no sources at all: 51Give. Please could you clarify this for me? Thank you.
Mattcardew (talk) 11:00, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Mattcardew: Hi. The main requirement for an article is that of notability. As per WP:ORGCRITE, and I quote, 'A company, corporation, organization, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject.' The first two references are directory listings, the third is the company website, and the fourth is some press release. Clearly, it does not satisfy notability. Regarding other articles, if you consider that they do not satisfy notability requirements, you may nominate them for deletion. See WP:PROD and WP:AFD for instructions. Thank you David.moreno72 12:06, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- @David.moreno72: Hi David, thank you for getting back to me on this - I appreciate your help. I'll find more sources. In terms of nominating articles for deletion, based on the notability criteria you've pointed me to, it would take a very long time. Of the sample i've looked at, not one company stub fully satisfies the criteria. I do not understand how so many have been accepted? Do they have strengths in other areas perhaps? I ask because i would like to ensure my article is the best it can be before resubmitting. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks you for your time.Mattcardew (talk) 13:49, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Please stop!
If I resubmitted, it means I'm contesting the review. Please do not review one draft twice. Another editor can reject it if he thinks no improvement or whatever, don't act like you're some super experienced person and I'm a lowly peasant. I may not be the most competent guy here but don't use ALL CAPS AND MULTIPLE EXCLAMATIONS!! Please. Please. Please. I hope you understand TryKid (talk) 07:18, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hi TryKid. There is no such thing as 'contesting the review'. The review process is designed so that after a decline the author will take notice of the issues and attempts to fix them. Next to the blue Resubmit button here is a notice that says 'Please note that if the issues are not fixed, the draft will be rejected again.' When an editor ignores this, it defeats the purpose of the AfC process and adds to the already large backlog. It has become my custom that whenever an editor disrespects this notice, the reviewer, and the AfC process, they will get the 'DO NOT RESUBMIT' notice as they are now wasting precious reviewer time. In regards to a reviewer making multiple reviews on the same submission, there is no policy that prevents this. Now, what is even more disrespectful is that you yourself are a probationary reviewer and should know better. In regards to the notability of your submission, a YouTube series with around 250k views per episode starring non notable people, and produced by a non notable organisation is hardly notable. A few million hits each, combined with significant coverage reporting on its 'viral' success would likely satisfy notability. I'm going to decline the article again per the 'Please note that if the issues are not fixed, the draft will be rejected again.' notice. Repeated contempt of this notice will be regarded as being disruptive and the article nominated for deletion. Thank you David.moreno72 09:25, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- Okay thanks for your feedback. Now, please let some competent AfC reviewer review it. You just get up and press reject reject reject. Please. Let someone else review the article. I hope you won't touch the article again. I'm begging you. Please stop. Bwy the way, notability is not about views. It is about news coverage, how can you not grasp that? 0 views or millions, it depends on news coverage.TryKid (talk) 17:21, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Obviously this is not acceptable. The article MUST be sourced with reliable references that have significant coverage of the subject. This is a mandatory requirement per WP:V and WP:GNG. Hi, Can you check the article now
Farazc21 (talk) 07:28, 24 June 2018 (UTC)Faraz
- Hi Farazc21. The article is still not suitable. Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. At the moment the references are simply directory listings, or the subject's own website, which is not enough to establish notability. The key takeaway is to have at least 3 references that have significant coverage AND are independent. Thank you David.moreno72 07:34, 24 June 2018 (UTC)

The user has been also been engaged in a slow burning edit war, reverting the plot section at least 10 times, plus other sections, with multiple editors. Then, he falsely accuses me of 'abusive and threatful behaviour' at AIV. Attempts at mediation on the article talk page have gone nowhere. - Hi ElleBru. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, NOT a vehicle for promoting 'your' Centre Stage Music artists. Also the subject MUST satisfy WP:MUSICBIO for an article to be written about them, and given that the majority of the references are from the subjects own website, notability has not been established. This was clearly outlined three times now in the note 'Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject'. DO NOT RESUBMIT until you have clearly (simply adding an unedited COI template is not sufficient) declared your WP:COI and WP:MUSICBIO has unambiguously been satisfied. Hello David.moreno72, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- June backlog drive
Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.
- New technology, new rules
- New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
- Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
- Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
- Editathons
- Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
- The Signpost
- The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

Reviewing an article
Dear Mr David, Thanks for the review. I have added extra references for the draft Sarode player Abanindra Maitra. Thank you. Nilima Sen. 1.8.2018 Dear Mr David, Thanks for your views regarding sarode player Abanindra Maitra. Abanindra Maitra is an internationally reputed and regarded as the leading sarode player of Sahajapore Gharana. At present he is regarded as the World's best sarode player of all times. As for external and internal sources the citations are from the Biography of Abanindra Maitra written by Mrs Sweta Banerjee, published by Hindustan publishers. Also the news reviews in many newspapers from 1974 to 2018. And Abanindra Maitra's twitter, facebook, linkedin etc If you need anything else, please do let me know. Once again thank you very much. Nilima Sen
- @Nilima sen: Hi. The policy of Wikipedia is that biographies of living people (BLP) must be referenced. Currently, your submission has no references. Please note that this was stated in the decline notice. Thank you David.moreno72 05:19, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Vijaiprao. Reference 1 and 3 are interviews, and so is not independent. Reference 2 is OK. Reference 4 doesn't work. There needs to be a minimum of 3 references that are independent, reliable and have significant coverage to satisfy WP:GNG. Thank you David.moreno72 11:18, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

Declined AfC submissions
Hello, David. I have recently seen a number of AfC submissions which you have declined, and I have a few comments which I hope you will be willing to read and consider. I have fully agreed with your decision to decline on every occasion, but I was not so happy about the reason you gave, which was just "This submission is not suitable for Wikipedia. Please read 'What Wikipedia is not' for more information." It is not very helpful to a new editor to be told that their work has been declined because it is not suitable, without any indication why. Personally I regard the standard drop-down reasons as inadequate, and I often type out a customised message instead, but even the standard reasons give a better indication than just "not suitable". Also, the message you give contains a link to Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, but many of the submissions I have seen do not fall under any of the categories listed there; for example, I have seen a well-formatted draft of an article on a subject which looks as though it is sufficiently notable, but with no sources cited. To decline that submission was perfectly correct, but there is nothing whatever on the page Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not which justifies doing so, and to encourage the editor who created the draft to go to that page to find information about why it was declined will merely waste their time and perhaps bewilder them. In the page notice for this talk page you link to User:David.moreno72/essay, which gives a good summary of common reasons for declining submissions, and it would be much more helpful to new editors to be given some such information directly. Even just linking to that user space page in your decline reason would be an improvement (though not as good as giving an individual reason). All in all there are several ways that you could give more helpful information to editors, none of which would take much more time or work than what you have been doing, and some would take no more effort at all. Perhaps you would be willing to consider doing one or other of them. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 13:26, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi JamesBWatson. Thanks for your comments, they are very much appreciated. One favour though. Can you give some particular examples. Thank you David.moreno72 13:33, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Mgmichel. I did a Google search and found nothing about the subject. This is indicative that the subject is not notable and not suitable for a Wikipedia article as it does not satisfy WP:GNG. Thank you David.moreno72 01:38, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Request to reconsider Anushka Rajan wikipedia article
Hi David,
Request you to reconsider posting the wiki article for Anushka Rajan as she a is noted personality in India. She wrote the screenplay for the film, Irada and was also the Creative Producer for the same. The film features Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Divya Dutta and it won the National Film Award for Best Film on Environmental Conservation and Preservation in India. She went on a 15-day, 8000 km national train odyssey called the ‘Jagriti Yatra’ to meet the leading social and business entrepreneurs and explore rural india around the country, which inspired her to launch her own social enterprise.

Re-submission - Ittai Binnun
Hello Mr. Moreno. First of all thank very much you for going through my 1st article. I had read the reasons for your decline carefully, and made all of the necessary corrections; Iv'e added citations, References, Category, further Information and some visual editing and arrangement. I have just resubmitted today. And i would please like to add, with all honesty, that Ittai Binnun is a notable enough subject, for there are many lesser Israeli artists with wikipedia pages in English - which qualify even less. He has three albums of his own music, and a great many other projects, achievements and collaborations. I believe anyone who reads this article might see Ittai Binnun is for sure a notable figure in Israeli AND international world music. I hereby request, if possible, that you reconsider. Thank you very much for your time.Or Izekson (talk) 11:16, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Please Re-Consider Rishav Kumar's Article | He is the youngest Developer & Entrepreneur
Dear Sir, Please consider Rishav Kumar's article as he is one of the most famous youngest app developers and entrepreneurs from the World. He is one of the richest entrepreneurs benefitting from 17 of his Apps from the iOS App Store. He is a worthy person to be noted in the Wikipedia Article. Please reconsider his article. I have also provided some links in the references column that will allow you to confirm the details from trusted and reliable sources like Yahoo, CNN News, etc.

daubism
Hi David Hope this finds you well. I've resubmitted the article on Daubism. I have been operating as an artist in the area of appropriating australian landscapes since 1991. I do so because when we are presented with a european western traditional view of the australian landscape we are unwittingly presented with Terra Nullius. In other words an empty landscape devoid of indigenous culture that can be bought and owned. The Australian landscape is particularly political in this aspect perhaps like no other. The sources I have quoted are all available to view online. They are written up in Australian mainstream newspapers and also in articles online. To be honest I'm not sure how much more reliable they can be. I ask that you please review your decision and be more specific as to the reason why the article was not accepted for publication.
sincerely

Hi Mr.david Moreno,
I have submitted the article, in fact, the translation of the article, which is already in 10 languages (english, russian, azerbaijani, georgian, etc.) I got the message from you, that it needs to be translated into the English language. I am new to editing on Wikipedia, so I forgot to indicate that it has already the English version. Apologies for that. I have resubmitted it again. Was it the right thing to do? What should I do next.
Thank you, Guljan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guljan kg (talk • contribs) 08:28, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018
Hello David.moreno72, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.
- Project news
- The New Page Feed now has a new "Articles for Creation" option which will show drafts instead of articles in the feed, this shouldn't impact NPP activities and is part of the WMF's AfC Improvement Project.
- As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
- There are a number of coordination tasks for New Page Patrol that could use some help from experienced reviewers. See Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Coordination#Coordinator tasks for more info to see if you can help out.
- Other
- A new summary page of reliable sources has been created; Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources/Perennial sources, which summarizes existing RfCs or RSN discussions about regularly used sources.
- Moving to Draft and Page Mover
- Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
- If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
- Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
- The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
- The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.

References are used to support/verify statements and claims in the article. None of the references verify anything in the article. Please read WP:REFB. DRAFT:Senior's College Association of Nova Scotia
Thank you for your review of the first draft which was submitted September 28, 2018. I have re-created the Draft page, but this time, (1) the text is entirely mine and newly crafted for purpose - to avoid copyright infringement; and (2) the references are made reliable because they can be verified since I followed the {cite news} and {cite web} formats.
