Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Scottish Bowling Association, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Scottish Bowling Association is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Scottish Bowling Association, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Sports Development Foundation Scotland, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/the-sports-development-foundation-scotland. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Blocked for persistent copyright violations[edit]

David, I am not sure what we have to do to get through to you so I am left with no option but to temporarily block your account from editing. As has been stated a number of times - on this page, at the deletion review, and in the deletion logs - Wikipedia cannot accept text which has been cut and pasted from another source (unless that source has specifically released the text under GFDL).

Whilst you are unable to edit, perhaps you could use the time to familiarise yourself with our copyright policy. If you are also the author of the source text, that page will also explain how, as a copyright owner, you can release the text for use on Wikipedia although as it reads a bit like a press release I would probably recommend that you just re-write something in your own words with a more encyclopaedic tone. Aside from your editing block, the SDFS article titles are also blocked from creation at the moment (also becasue of the copyright issue) so a good idea would be write the new text in your own user space and then it can be vetted and moved in to the mainspace by an administrator who can unlock the target page at the same time.

I would like to make it clear that the problem is not with SDFS per se - it would appear to be a notable organisation - but with the fact that the text you have introduced so far has been a cut and paste job from another website so as long as you can put something together which is encyclopaedic, properly sourced and not copied from elsewhere then I see no reason why it would be deleted. Kind regards, Nancy talk 12:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking[edit]

David has confirmed his identity and association with the SDFS and released the SDFS logo image as GFDL and CC dual licensed in email to OTRS (ticket # 2008121210019742 ). David contacted us from a SDFS email address and included SFDS staff information including his name. Information from the SDFS website is also something David is authorized to release, though he has not sent in a confirmation doing so yet.

Per this confirmation that he is an agent and staffmember of the organization and is releasing the images under WP compatible licenses (GFDL and CC). I am unblocking David's account at this time.

David, I am going to email you this as well, but I would like to look at the comments above from Nancy and others, and keep those in mind as you continue editing in the future. Please make sure that you properly mark the source of future contributions, and list that you're an agent of the source and that the text is released under GFDL and/or CC. As Nancy also said, keeping contributions encyclopedic is also important.

Good luck editing Wikipedia in the future! Please feel free to contact me on my talk page if you have further questions or need help. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 22:35, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: undeletion request[edit]

Hi David and welcome back, I just revisted the text of the deleted article and I'm afraid that at this point it cannot be restored as it is a copyright violation (being a cut and paste from this page). I have checked for copyright releases and as confirmed by this note from Georgewilliamherbert above, the only release which Wikipedia has thus far recieved is for the SDFS logo image.

With regard to your other points, I can't really comment on the process for releasing copyrights - that's a foundation issue but I imagine it is as it is because of the potential legal problems that anything more lax would cause. Secondly, your block, it was only for a week (expired on the 19th December) and as I explained at the time it was a measure of last resort as you kept posting the copyright material.

Moving forward there are two options. You could either go through the formal process again to release the text to GFDL (not sure if you will be able to do this as the text in question is marked Copyright of BlogCatalog), or, the easier and quicker option you could just write couple of paragraphs in your own words. As I have said previously the issue was never with the article subject as SDFS would appear to meet the notability criteria for organisations, however when you are writing the new piece please do keep in the back of your mind that your close association with the organisation will require you to be extra careful to keep the article objective, neutral and verified by multiple, independent, secondary sources. You also need to ensure that the article does not contain promotional material - for example previous incarnations have solicited donations which is a big no-no on Wikipedia. Good luck & all the best for 2009, kind regards, Nancy talk 09:15, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

Good evening David, Sports Development Foundation Scotland is not protected from editing and that is the right title to use - we don't use definite articles in titles except in unusual circumstances e.g. The Who has one but National Trust has not. Kind regards, Nancy talk 22:37, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
