Kratom wiki page

Thanks for making some small edits to the kratom wiki page! The article is currently in minor crisis mode, as the secondary literature reviews that form the basis of it seem to contain errors. I added a section to the talk page showing a major one. We can use all the help we can get, especially if you are willing to check up on the primary sources that the secondary sources cite. The flow seems to be something like kratom has a rare side effect documented in a case of one or two (respiratory depression, seizure), a literature review mentions that as a side effect, then a case study of one from a primary source morphs into a stated side effect on Wikipedia. Your undoing of changes to the article "Enema"

The references I used are from the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Government. Therefore, your objection, "Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations" does in no way apply to the edit you reverted. The NIH is the indexer not the publisher or author.

Our Wikipedia article on cyclobenzaprine does not allude to tetanus at all.

Basically it says cyclobenzaprine can be used to help with the spasms along with other stuff.
I am not sure if all pharmaceuticals are chemical compounds.

Hi, Doc James. Thank you. Can you please add something to the Wikipedia article about relief from tetanus muscle cramping, if it is appropriate? That would bring it into alignment with the Wikidata statements.
Oxygen is an element that can be a part of a compound, such as H2O.

O2 is used as a medication in that it comes out of the walls in the hospital. It is on the WHO essential medicines list I think even. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 23:13, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
Oxygen has a chapter (along with other "therapeutic gasses") in Goodman and Gilman, so I'd say that qualifies it as an actual pharmaceutical. Vision therapy

Your recent edit changed "and/or computer programs" to "or computer programs". The true state of affairs (I believe confirmed in the references) is that computer programs, often used at home as well as in the office, are often prescribed in addition to the office interventions. As I recall, it is acknowledged that a combination of home and office therapy is better than either alone, or at least than home therapy alone. I am reluctant to do more editing in this area myself, due to the presence of editors who seem duty-bound to denigrate vision therapy as quackery, etc. Lou Sander (talk) 16:28, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

I shall look for sources that satisfy the requirements. Although I do believe this hasn't been explored. Never claimed that they do more harm than good, although you could infer that from the studies. Perhaps there needs to be a clear blurb that there is limited evidence supporting long-term use? That's right: there are lots of things we don't know. But we don't pretend to know them until we do know them. The common wisdom could be mistaken, but this has to be properly shown, see e.g. Wikipedia:Why MEDRS?#Primary scientific literature is exceptionally unreliable in biology why a couple of primary sources aren't enough. Ah I saw "id=PMID 19700440" and assumed that was an error but it appears to work as well. Usually it is "pmid = 19700440" Reverted back.

Verruca

Verruca is the common name for a plantar wart in British English, i.e. UK, India, Australia, NZ etc, so deserves to be in the intro, in bold. It appears that this is not the case in the US.

Good morning Doc James. I recently asked you to mediate in the extensive discussions with Plomkg22345 (sockpuppet Unkownzero), which you kindly did, regarding the Ageing article. This user has now been blocked indefinitely as of today. The Ageing discussion sections with Plomkg22345 and your mediation can therefore be archived, from my point of view. Furthermore, I suggest as a "watching brief" the ageing/dementia-related articles be monitored for further sockpuppeteering attempts by that user - she seems to focus on mental disorders, where she changes text into the conditional mood (for example she would change "10 percent of old people are affected by dementia" into "10 percent of old people may be affected by dementia"). Stillbirth

Good day Doc James - I have created redirects for synonyms of stillbirth: fetal death and demise. I see you reverted my mention of these synonyms in the article. Maybe they can be added? I also think it is important to mention clearly that the definition of stillbirth depends on where one is in the world based on different gestational age cutoffs. Both "fetal death, fetal demise" are mention in the infobox User:Ear-phone. They are also not complete synonyms but only partial synonyms. Miscarriage can also be called fetal death or fetal demise. Colloidal silver

Can you please look at changes continually being made to the colloidal silver page by CFCF. I am concerned he wants to use foreign language references for a contentious medical subject. You removed one claim that it was illegal for consumption but it was actually in the picture box twice. I removed the other one, and the mention of it in the article. CFCF has put it back in again and is accusing me of extreme disruption. I don't get this. If the reference is inadequate as you seemed to imply why is the claim still in there at all? If you look at the edit it was moved, not removed. No one has said the reference is inadequate, simply that it would be preferable to get an English language reference for the same statement. Since there are none: that isn't possible… The reason your behaviour is disruptive is because you choose to (mis?)read everything as favouring your own position. Sure. Good to try to keep it to one idea per sentence. Therefore "Extreme Tourette's in adulthood is a rarity, and Tourette's does not adversely affect intelligence or life expectancy" are two different statements that do not depend on each other and therefore should be separated by a period rather than an "and" Am wanting to get this lead simplified for translation. Zoster vaccine

Per Talk:Zoster vaccine#Zoster vaccine, there now (or soon) appear to be two zoster vaccines, which is why I moved this article ... and then didn't find any good information about the subunit vaccine. I don't know whether it's marketed anywhere yet. Sock/meat puppets

Hi Doc James. I recently AfD'd [6] and you PROD'd [7] [8] recently created persons of Somali origin. There seems to be a cabal of accounts that are protecting each other's articles against deletion, either by removing speedy and AfD tags, or leaving comments contesting deletion. Could this be a valid SPI case, or do you think it's meat puppetry? Image

The situation at FGM reminded me of the image you uploaded of the half-naked 13-year old disabled girl, which I see still hasn't been deleted. Discussion here and here. Rich has blacked out her eyes, but she's still identifiable. I can nominate it for deletion, but knowing Commons there's no guarantee that will succeed.

It might succeed if you were to request speedy deletion as the uploader, on the grounds that you uploaded it in error. See Commons:Deletion policy. You could argue that the girl is identifiable and has not consented (and there's no evidence that her parents consented to widespread use); that another editor had already uploaded an image of her with the head cropped off; and that the image is unlikely to be used. We are not using it anymore as it is not a simple case of Marfan's. So I have no object to it being deleted.
