[edit]

Information icon Hi E3a! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Machine learning that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Politanvm talk 18:44, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Politanvm
Thank you very much for your calm explanation. Appreciated. E3a (talk) 18:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, E3a. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Who is Rahimberdi Annamoradnejad [et al.] and why are you adding citations by them across multiple pages? El_C 13:49, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He answered below. It seems like a mistake on his part. This should not be a simple way to promote and then attack a public figure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Finncowboy (talkcontribs)

Hello E3a. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:E3a. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=E3a|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. El_C 14:04, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have no private or public compensation, employer, client or affiliation for my edits. @El C E3a (talk) 14:08, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So no connection to Rahimberdi Annamoradnejad whatsoever? Well, aside from creating that page, obviously. El_C 14:16, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
He has a weekly interview in Channel Mazandaran of our country. He talks about science and how to apply in business. I started to enjoy the show which ended last year. I'm not a research scientist or anything. I thought I was helping him in reverse because he is of my own ethnicity. I did not know I was hurting wikipedia. Sorry for that. @El C E3a (talk) 15:49, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay, thanks for explaining. Just try not to repeatedly promote any one individual, through citations or anything, going forward. Regards, El_C 18:21, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
no connection to Issa Annamoradnejad either? Even if its not paid editing, your edits give the impression of being promotion for this phd student. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.135.169.167 (talk) 20:27, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please confirm if you have or not have any affiliation with any of the papers/authors/institutions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Finncowboy (talkcontribs)
No connection to anyone or institution. I did not think my actions would reflect on them and be connected to them. Never thought about it like that. E3a

Future edits

[edit]

To E3A: If you ever want to edit any more pages, please refrain from citing the same article or author multiple times. This may look like you are helping the person, but it may end up hurting. From your answer, I realize that you are not aware of the rules.

To readers: It's very common that authors would use Wikipedia for personal gain. However, this should not become a simple way to destroy a public figure. For example, if A creates an account and cites the papers of B in many places, it will create a discussion about B, aka. victim. I am not seeing that here, but it could happen. The discussion should remain civil, and without assumptions. I edited the page to achieve this goal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Finncowboy (talkcontribs)

A question about your connection to Rahimberdi Annamoradnejad

[edit]

What exactly is the nature of your connection to Rahimberdi Annamoradnejad? Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline indicates that you should state what the connection is.JBW (talk) 19:20, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I explained this before and I will not edit or add any content related to science. It was a mistake on my part.

My apologies for asking again after you had already answered. I hadn't seen your previous message about this, which by the time I came here had been removed from the page. JBW (talk) 07:39, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @JBW E3a (talk) 10:19, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation pages

[edit]

A disambiguation page is not a stub, and it should have no articles linking directly to it - so please stop adding {{stub}} and {{orphan}} to disambiguation pages like this, as it just wastes other editors' time cleaning up after you. Thanks. PamD 20:45, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. Thank you for explaining. E3a (talk) 20:52, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

[edit]

Please stop marking all your edits as "minor": this only applies to things like " ... typographical corrections, corrections of minor formatting errors, and reversion of obvious vandalism.", and not to tagging articles and similar changes. Thanks. PamD 20:49, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry @PamD
I'm just starting to become active and be productive. I will not do this again. E3a (talk) 20:51, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you E3a (talk) 20:53, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I see you edited this with the edit summary "clean up." Unfortunately, you only removed the {{{advert}}} tag without making it less an advertisement. Thanks, --Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:13, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello,
What was the reason for advertisement about that page? It seemed to be about a youtube page with half million subscribers. E3a (talk) 18:07, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
