Jadger

[edit]
  • Would you please check Jadger's texts, eg. in Talk:Expulsion of Germans after World War II? If he has problems, he has started them. I find many his comments offensive.
  • Has he the right to put his texts on my Discussion page againt my will? I have removed his text and asked him to not write there. He accuses me of doing the same, what he does.

Yeah, I saw that and was debating about whether to do it, but I don't think I have the time right now. Maybe next spring. Besides, I need to brush up on images, anyway. -- Merope 14:59, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Private Universities in Bangladesh

[edit]

I understand your concern and can appreciate completely. But unfortunately, the page you redirected it to (i.e. List of schools in Bangladesh) is about primary and secondary schools, not colleges or universities. On top of that, the appropriate list (i.e. List of universities in Bangladesh) contains only the names of the universities, of no more use than the template itself (i.e. Template:Private Universities of Bangladesh). I have already stated my views on my talk page in a discussion with Quarl, and I still think we must not protect or encourage over-zealous profusion of empty entries. The virtual space is infinite only when you have an infinite amount of finacial resources. WP is not so fortunate (note: I don't have a credit card, but I want to donate, can you tell me how I can?). Finally, the redirect was obstricting the original contributor from editing them. Now that the redirects have been removed the contributor has added significantly to most of the entries. Thanks again. (another note: can I join Esperanza if I'm not an admin or something?) - Aditya Kabir 16:00, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching

[edit]

Hello Fang! I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you as quickly as I wanted. I basically started editing again today. I did some RC patrolling in order to get back in the swing of things. Yes, I would like an admin coach! I've looked forward to it, and it seems I could use one now. I apologize for not addressing the issue earlier. Hello,

In so far as your deletion of Courtland, Arizona. There is nothing listed on Wikipedia, the Arizona State Archives, Arizona State Historical Society or on the National Archive that I could possibly post as a reference for this city.

The only reference is that of this Ghost-town page. Perhaps you can find something that has been overlooked or have a personal site on Courtland?

Thanks though for your help. Angelbby1 18:14, 22 December 2006 (UTC)Angelbby1[reply]

????

[edit]

I am writing in response to your blunt and sudden deletion of my article entitled NME cool list 2006. I really do not see why it has been deleted - it conforms to all the rules, its an article that can be referenced and sourced to countless pages on the web. I only made the thing a minute ago then it was suddenly gone, hadn't even finished. wreckless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisnorman101 (talkcontribs)

I assume you mean "reckless"? Actually, no. If you want to work on an article and save it before it's finished, I recommend you create a user subpage like User:Chrisnorman101/NME. The article was deleted per the speedy delete guidelines. It did not assert notability, and it didn't provide much context either. If you'd like to try again, be sure to include those things. --Fang Aili talk 19:41, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually "wreckless" was a pun requesting that you "wreck-less" at the same time as suggesting that what you did was reckless. I feel somewhat electronically abused now. I was making an article that has been pretty big news in the UK. The cool list is an important feature of UK pop culture. It has appeared in numerous broadsheets. The NME is one of the most popular music magazines in the UK. Its website NME.com should help you out with understanding its importance. The particular significance of this year's list was the winner Beth Ditto, who contraversially topped the chart by being very un-traditionally cool and therefore a role model for all. The thing was only up for a minute and suddenly it all went, at least try me first. I'm not going to try again. I've had far too much deleted on this thing by Americans who are ignorant about other cultures. Just please try and be a little bit more open minded, your position requires great responsiblity. This is an open encyclopedia and therefore being so reckless and hasty can restrict perfectly valid information from getting to people. As an American, I would have thought you would have more respect for the notion of the freedom that Wikipedia offers you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisnorman101 (talkcontribs)

Inappropriate Delete

[edit]

Hi, you deleted my page on Roots of Empathy, and I'm not sure why. The reason was A7--what does that mean?

Roots of Empathy is an internationally acclaimed emotional literacy program currently in Canada and Australia, expanding into the US, New Zealand and the UK. Its founder has been recognized by the Order of Canada, one of Canada's highest awards, and is an expert of emotional literacy and early childhood development. Her book has won awards and recognition from childhood educators and advocates like Fred Penner.

I think that your delete was irresponsible.

Try googling 'empathy'. rootsofempathy.org is the second result, and that's definitely not because of SEO--their website is 'still in construction.' It's because everyone who knows about this kind of thing recognizes that they are doing important, ground-breaking work.

I would like an explanation please. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nietzschebunyan (talkcontribs) 19:38, 22 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

If the organization is really notable, then you need to assert that in the article. It was deleted because it did not assert notability; this is speedy delete criteria A7 (articles, point 7). Please read this links provided in the Welcome message and get an idea for what Wikipedia is all about. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 19:47, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the response, and I understand that you are trying to be welcoming and not patronizing, but I understand quite well "what Wikipedia is all about" and have been writing for it for several years under different names.
I will ensure that in the next Roots of Empathy article I post, notability will be more obvious.
However, I think that anything more than a cursory glance on your part would have made notability apparent--e.g. the board of directors includes the founding director of the EQAO (a pioneering education accountability agency), the president of Merrill Lynch Canada, former managing director of CIBC world markets, etc. Of course I wouldn't expect you to know what the EQAO is or how they have been an international model for accountability, but I would just ask that you be a bit more careful in the future. Fortunately I have a backup of what you deleted. Nietzschebunyan 20:06, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My re-creation of Trek Thunder Kelly...

[edit]

Just wanted to let you know that I re-created a page (Trek Thunder Kelly) you speedied earlier. I had noticed the page's creation while patrolling recent changes, and it was a disaster. I almost added the speedy notice myself, but since I'd heard of him and thought he probably should have a page, I created one with what's actually notable about him instead of the WP:VSCA that was there before. You had speedied the original while I was working on it, so I thought I'd let you know how it came to be back. Pinball22 19:49, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikichan page deletion

[edit]

Hello, I am Oblivion2k, the person that created the Wikichan page for Wikipedia. I understand that you deleted the page. I am now going to create it again. Please to not delete it, as for all things, time is required for perfection, and the page was not even 24 hours old before you deleted it. This Wikichan page is a multiple-person project, and will include information such as date of creation, purpose, example media, and everything else we can possibly think of. But not all of this can be done in one sitting. You must understand that. This site that we are describing in the Wikichan article is very important, as it also decribes dozens of sites inside of it's site. The total user base of the entire Wikichan network, including it's networked sites, numbers in the thousands, if not tens of thousands. (For a full list of networked sites, check the image board page on Wikichan) Please understand that we are very dedicated to this project, and we ask for your patience as we create the Wikichan article for Wikipedia. oblivion2k

I don't think that saying that you are associated with a load of *chan pages makes a site notable. The actual number of registered users is about 50, and even with non-regged users, the user count is still small. The "GO HERE and add the article until they give up and let us keep it." comment on the main page doesn't help, either. I do think that writing a paragraph about this on 4chan might be a good idea, though. --84.163.213.31 00:28, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's true, those aren't the best tactics. While wikichan could be mentioned, I think we should redirect the term to imageboards instead of 4chan. While 4chan is the main subject of wikichan it does technically address other chans. Tyciol 06:48, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added some info for them, is it enough?--SGCommand (talkcontribs) 22:30, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I've just restored this page you deleted, without justification IMO. This lady IS notable, as a Fijian Chief and the heir of not one but two royal families in Fiji.

I am disappointed that you didn't consult the people who worked on the article. I am not the main author, but I endorse it, as I know a lot about her and her family from the media, etc. Please give me time, and I'll find verifiable references for it.

I left a message on the article's talk page also. I had to rewrite it; I was quite angry and said some things that would have been better left unsaid. I apologise for that, and have edited my original comments there. I thought at first you were some jerk on a vandalism spree, but now that I've had a look I can see that you've done a great deal of good work on Wikipedia. You just made a mistake this time - but we all do that, so :-)

One thing I've noticed is that Americans, Britons, and citizens of other major countries often consider biographies of persons from smaller countries to be non-notable, just because they have never heard of them. But if the person is notable in his/her own country, that should suffice, IMO.

Anyway,have a happy Christmas. David Cannon 03:35, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching

Yes, it is perfect. Sorry, I haven't been on much lately. Is there any way possible you could perhaps coach somebody else first and then come back to me? If not, thats fine but if you can, that would be preferable because I am rather busy during this time. Sorry for the inconvenience and I really appreciate your help. I look forward to your response, and once again, I am sorry. Wikipediarules2221 21:27, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fang Aili,

I'm an ex-wikipedian. I was wondering if you could delete the history on my user page and talk page of my account and lock it up please? (I let slip some personal information in the past and it'll settle my nerves if I know no one will ever see that info). :)

Thanks!

Please log in as this person and assert your right to vanish. I will then delete your userpage and talk page. I can't protect a non-existent page, but I can keep it on my watch list for you. Please let me know, Fang Aili talk 22:10, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious, what did I write in that link anyway?

I forgot that the link would be deleted after I deleted the page (duh). Basically it just said "this user has closed his account" or words to that effect. I took that to mean you were requesting vanishing. --Fang Aili talk 23:44, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re Imago (band)

[edit]

Better now? How will I assert or make known it is notable? Sorry if you don't feel it is notable since a search of Imago on Yahoo or Google brings up a lot of Imago hits but not relating to the band in the Philippines (there are other Imago bands on the planet it seems and Imago = butterfly effect thingy).

Thanks for the push. Lol. =) Berserkerz Crit 00:17, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also I removed the prod warning or thingy. Is that ok? Berserkerz Crit 00:18, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to sleep hope for a good day tomorrow. =D By the way, could you also look at the npa2/3 slap on my talk page by PMGomez, he's been doing that to Filipino Wikipedians who do not agree with him basically (his uploaded images and template have been proposed for deletion by Howard the Duck in WP:TAMBAY) so I was telling Howard how great he's handling the situation given PMGomez' stubborness and inappropriate slapping of npa tags on his talk page. Basically I was wondering if I could remove the npa tags on my talk page myself. Would that be inappropriate (I know edit history is important for reviewing a Wikipedian's character and I might get to that point where I would be burned for removing an npa tag on my talk page)? Sorry for the long ramblings. Berserkerz Crit 00:23, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A question about an article proposed for deletion

[edit]

I proposed that the article on Silon be deleted as it is nonsense and nothing links to it. You updated my delete tag (an improvement) and now someone has removed your tag. The person who removed the tag has no history on Wikipedia and is identified only by an IP address. The edit doesn't add any new information to justify keeping the article. What is the next step? I will drop the request if that's what the community expects in a case like this. Please advise.

Hi there,

I was wandering if you mistakingly deleted the above page which I just added.

It was titled as spam. However, I don't believe it was.

I was merely trying to follow in the manner of

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specialized_Bicycle_Components

and several other cycle manufacturers wiki entries.

I am not associated with Turner bikes, however I am knowledgeable of them and was keen to share my knowledge.

If I was over the top in my zeal, i apologize. Can you tell me what needed to change to make it acceptable to the guidelines.

This is my first wiki page and I was really excited about it! Please can you help me out.

Cheers,

Why did you delete my page? I spent ages writing that up, didn't you click the see also links at the bottom? I don't see any reason to post it, I wrote more than the article it was linked from. There is only so much I can bloody go from but that doesn't mean that it should be thrown out. Lord of nothing 03:29, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Michael Donnelly (author)) page

[edit]

Why did you delete my page? I had just created it and was writing more to it, and you deleted before I had finished!! In the future, please consult Wikipedia before you do some thing stupid! --Celtic0106 05 January 2007

Consult Wikipedia? Um, I'm an administrator here. That article did not assert notability. Please see WP:Notability for Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Thank you. --Fang Aili talk 03:57, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, consult me first. Can you please restore my article? User:Celtic0106 05 Jan 2007

deletion of Ben O'Donoghue

[edit]

Hi,

My page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_O%27Donoghue has been deleted.

I maintain the website (www.benodonoghue.com) for Ben O'Donoghue and he has asked me to create an entry in Wikipedia using content from his website.

Can this page therefore please be restored as I don't believe that it is in violation of any copyright from his website.

James

Unfortunately we cannot just take your word for it. If you wish to use content from his website, the best thing to do is post a GFDL notice on that website. (A line at the bottom of the main page, "Content on this site is released under the GNU Free Documentation License", would be sufficient.) Then you can use its content on Wikipedia. Your other option is to send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en at wikimedia dot org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation. Please let me know if you have questions. --Fang Aili talk 21:53, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of K12 Inc. Page

[edit]

Hi Fang Aili,

I noticed you have deleted the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K12_Inc. page. I know another Editor marked it for deletion but I have contested it. He also gave me tips on how to re-edit it on the talks page and I have done that as well. The final article doesn't contain any advertisement and the format is very similar to all the other virtual academies on wikipedia. Would it be possible for you to review it again?

Thanks, Plin --Plin 15:06, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm.. are you sure that was the article title? That one was deleted by another admin back in September because it was a copyright violation. --Fang Aili talk 21:44, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see, K12 Inc. (with a period). I can't restore the article because it contains copyright violations from http://www.k12.com. It has been deleted several times for that reason, and it's spammy-sounding besides. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 22:02, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
