Hi, You removed the protection from the Ayn Rand page. I reverted it with the comment of "no reason given." Feel free to remove it again and note the reason in the edit summary or on the talk page for Ayn Rand. Thanks! P.S. Looking at your userbox page I see you and I share a lot of interests. Great Stuff!!!!! Ethan a dawe 17:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Ethan_a_dawe

- Hi, another editor removed the protection after I reverted yours, so it's gone. Actually I didn't realize how long it had been on there. Thanks for your kind explanation though!Ethan a dawe 18:50, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Ethan_a_Dawe
I know the article has been semi-protected for a long time, but an indefinitely banned user just edited it two days ago. Is unprotecting it really a good idea? AniMate 20:34, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think so. You can see that the semiprotection didn't keep the banned user from editing it. And that user's edits should be pretty easily identifyable, assuming he/she always puts in the same stuff. I've been unprotecting a lot of long-protected articles lately, in hopes of supporting the assertion that this is the encyclopedia anyone can edit. (I would appreciate extra eyes here.) Let me know if you feel strongly about this. But it seems the article needs to be watched closely anyway. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 21:01, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Just a heads up. I went a head and requested semi-protection again. Look at the history of the article... it's... it's not pretty. I agree with your intentions, but right unprotection is not realistic. AniMate 05:45, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Looks like you were doing a pretty good job at reverting, but I know that gets annoying after a while. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 20:33, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

recently unprotected articles
[edit]In an attempt to keep this the encyclopedia everyone can edit, I've recently unprotected several high-profile articles. Could you help me monitor them for vandalism?
Thanks very much. I imagine a few of these might need re-protection, but let's see if we can stop that from happening. :) --Fang Aili talk 18:41, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- You can use this recent changes link, which links to User:Fang_Aili/sandbox2, a list of pages I have recently unprotected. Thanks again, Fang Aili talk 19:08, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Fang Aili,

Request for review of an article - can you help?
[edit]I have another question for you. A woman who has held a prominent political position in the midwest has discovered a page was created on her in Wikipedia and contains uncited and non factual information. Can I ask you to review the page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_L._Campbell), or is there another editor that makes more sense to ask? I appreciate any guidance you can offer. Lesliekc 01:25, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- She can follow the instructions here. Alternatively, she can express her concerns on the talk page. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 18:46, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
WP:Musical Instrument
[edit]你好
Greetings-
I am a member of the Musical Instrument WP, and I am about to attempt to write the talk page project templatewish me luck!. My question is: do you want to have an "importance" scale as well as a "quality" scale, and is there any other information you might want the template to have (review processes, portal inclusions, automatic entry into certain categories, etc.). Just wondering! - NDCompuGeek 05:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- 你好! I would like both quality and importance, but the importance should only appear if it is "Top" importance. I've found that if it appears for every subcategory (Mid, Low, etc importance), it just clutters up the talk page, and it makes certain people feel like X article isn't important enough. Definitely keep all the sub-cats of "quality" visible, though. :) Thanks much, Fang Aili talk 18:34, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Deleted "Globe Asiatique" (WP:CSD A7; does not assert notability)
[edit]Hi,
I recently created an article : 19:05, 30 March 2007 Fang Aili (Talk | contribs) deleted "Globe Asiatique" (WP:CSD A7; does not assert notability)
I was just wondering what you meant by "does not assert notability". (I am sure you have answered this question a gazillion time....I am really new to this, so please bear with me)
If you may please advise, the conditions for "notability" so I may conform.
The article which I posted was a brief, partly because I am still figuring out stuff works around here......but mainly because I was hoping to work on it more and add more information in time. (But If articles are deleted too quickly...there is no chance to work on them)
Also, before creating the article....I searched wikipedia for relevance and gave me 8 results. 7 of which had 100% relevance to the article I created.

[edit]- Thanks for voting in my RfA. I've decided to withdraw my acceptance because of real WP:CIVIL concerns. I will try again later when I've proven to myself and others that my anger will no longer interfere with my abilities as a Wikipedia editor. Thanks again, and I'll see you around here shortly. :) JuJube 04:40, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
More Fudokan
[edit]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Fouders_of_Fudokan has been listed for speedy deletion, per WP:SNOW. All the other fudokan articles (Save fudokan itself, which is undergoing AfD, and Illia Jorga, which I will list after fudokan closes), have been deleted, leading me to believe that nobody would contest a proposed deletion of this template, so therefore I have CSD'd it.
Thank you, RogueNinja
- RogueNinja (talk · contribs)
- I'd say that if Fudokan is deleted, we can delete this template. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 20:30, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
RK Auto Group revision posted for your review - thank you!
[edit]Hello Fang Aili, you deleted this page and then kindly gave me the chance to revise it, on my user page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Lesliekc/RK_Auto_Group) to meet a minimum threshold of notability. Would you please let me know if that has happened? thanks much! 66.61.72.229 03:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I really appreciate your efforts. Unfortunately I don't think this meets the guidelines at WP:CORP (notability guideline for corporations). It would be great material for a personal website or a car-oriented wiki, perhaps. --Fang Aili talk 14:25, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Gotcha - thanks for the link. After reading that page I'm still not clear. Is the problem not enough attributable sources? We have only newspaper articles, but they are more than surface pieces (nontrivial). Or is it because we are a regional business? Sorry - don't mean to be a pain, I promise, just want to understand. Then I'll move on to something more productive or make the page work for the community, if that is possible. I know you are very busy and appreciate any feedback you have to give. Our group was really proud to be listed in the Wikipedia and would love to regain that honor, if possible. Thanks much! Lesliekc 01:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- The problem in my mind is that of notability--I see there were a few articles written in the local Virginia paper, but do those articles mention how the auto group affected the community (in some notable way)? Has this auto group been in the news outside of Virginia? And right now, to be honest, the article comes across more as an advertisement than anything else. Keep in mind that Wikipedia attempts to be a global encyclopedia, not a collection of random information (even if it is well-written and sourced). Does this make sense? I don't want to hurt your feelings, and I don't want to come across as high-than-thou or anything like that. You can ask other Wikipedians for their opinions if you like. Use Wikipedia:Help desk. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 19:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

WP:Musical Instrument template
[edit]你好 you know, I've said it for years, but only since corresponding with you have I ever written it! - I finished the rough draft for the first template, let me know what you think: User:NDCompuGeek/WIP/project5. The image is just a placeholder (unless you think a frog playing the guitar is a good representative picture....), so don't shoot me too bad for it. ;-)) There will be a derivitave of this talkbox for use on appropriate categories, as well as the "real" template talkbox, with all the bells and whistles and trimmings and shtuff. Please be kind! - NDCompuGeek 10:00, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- NDCompuGeek (talk · contribs)
- Looks good to me! (Except, of course, for the frog picture. ;) I made a few minor edits. Keep in mind though that I don't know much about coding.. I can only comment on aesthetics. I've created a few of these templates, but I just copied the code of another project's and replaced the categories and picture. Also, I've been spending less time on Wikipedia lately, so if I'm not that active at the project, that's why. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 14:39, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the capitalization correction.... As for your RL issues - good luck! (Don't know how to write it in Chinese, so English will have to do!) I'm sure someone of your calibre will have NO problem getting into whatever school/college/university you wish! Minot State University needs good people too ("my" university).... BTW - almost done with the main template at User:NDCompuGeek/WIP/project4, if you want to take a peek when it's done. Please resopnd to me
[edit]Why acticle Fudokan is deleted, now it has all the standards of article on wikipedia,it is school of karate, I now that RougeNinja is not no this school but that his problem. I ask you to unlock this atricle because he destroying something other than my arcticle other to like in list of Temlate:karate schools he not only removed Fudokan from the list but also GKR karate, If he didn't heard about this scool thats his problem but please block him to do more vandalizm, he is not created anything only new to post tag of warning that something is wrong. Snake BGD 11:06, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Your first step would be to talk to User:Luigi30, who closed the AfD and deleted Fudokan. After that you could post at deletion review, and make another case there. The main problem seems to be with the assertion of notability; you listed webpages, yes, but anyone can set up a webpage. Has Fudokan been mentioned in the press? in major martial arts publications? Your English is also somewhat hard to understand -- do you have a native English speaker who can help you write? Thanks, Fang Aili talk 18:42, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Reverts
[edit]Thanks for all the reverts lately. Looks like several articles have been re-protected, and maybe we all just have to accept that some articles will always either be heavily vandalized or semi-protected (or both). Le sigh. --Fang Aili talk 19:25, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I didn't do too much reverting: I'm on freaking dial-up at home, and was beaten to the punch any number of times by faster users. I did see a lot of these articles are being reprotected. I suppose protection is better than constant vandalism. It was a worthy effort, though, Fang Aili. Firsfron of Ronchester 19:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Userify Tiquan Underwood
[edit]I'm not sure I understand why the article was deleted, but could I ask you to create a user version of the article for me so that I can address the wikifying and reference issues that seem sto have been the reason for deletion. While I have refeernced the article, I apparently hadn't added it to my watchlist. Alansohn 19:53, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- It was a one-liner, "Tiquan Underwood is the star wide receiver on the Rutgers University Football Team." That's all. It was tagged as {{db-bio}}, but it could have been under A1 or A3 as well (lack of context/content). He might be notable, but it needs a little more info on why. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 16:43, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Television personalities/lineups
[edit]If you're going to remove the personalities from all the Atlanta tv station pages (i.e. WSB, WAGA, WXIA, WGCL), you need to remove them from all of the stations webpages from around the country. Could you give me a piece of advice?
[edit]Dear Fang Aili, could you please take a look at my struggle with User:Vlad fedorov. In my opinion, he repeatedly vandalizes articles GRU, Human rights in Russia, Nikolai Koltsov, Persecution of political bloggers, Grigory Svirsky, and Active measures. He deletes large fragments of text supported by reliale references, without discussing anything. He does not recognize any sources, even such as Nature Reviews Genetics (in article Nikolai Koltsov). I warned him twice about his alleged vandalism, but he deleted my comments from his talk page. User:Colchicum and me made a request for comments about him, but this did not help:Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Vlad_fedorov and Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_comment/Vlad_fedorov#New_episodes_of_wikistalking_by_Vlad . What would you recommend? I would highly appreciate your advice.Biophys 03:00, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what to tell you. I don't do a lot of conflict resolution (of other people's conflicts, that is). There is already a mediation case open involving you and Vlad (Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007-02-10 Boris Stomakhin), as well as the RfC. From looking over various links, it looks like both you and Vlad have certain opinions and are unwilling to compromise. One or both of you will need to step away from the articles in question, or continue until you are both blocked for 3RR. On Wikipedia, like life in general, you're going to run into people with whom you disagree and have no hope of compromise. Just let it go. Have a look at this essay, go outside, listen to the birds sing, and go on with life. This is the best advice I can give you. --Fang Aili talk 14:30, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Yellow Dog
[edit]Hi Fang, Sorry if I took too long to resond, I am getting used to Wiki. Im not sure of online sources however most of the land holdings on the plains alon the Tripple A are held by logging companies, or companies that have sold their logging rights ie Long Year, etc. I dont have a plat for that area of MQT county but it is public domain. In fact the picture that is on the page for the yellow dog plains is an excellent example of the logging going on in the area, the area pictured is probably about 2 years after a cutting. Why did you delete the article? I was just beginning to write it!!!!!!! SDC 20:51, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
I've single-handedly written several respectable articles for Wikipedia: Sulfur lamp, Comorian franc, and many more. Why not give me the benefit of the doubt? You also might want to take notice that there are already existing links to the article, so it must have some notability.
- I try to apply CSD equally. If it doesn't have a notability assertion, it's an A7 candidate, whether the creator is a newbie or a bureaucrat. Perhaps you're not aware of user subpages-- Use User:SDC/Toddle House, and you can edit the article in your own time, and move to article space when it is complete (including a notability assertion). Let me know if you have further questions. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 20:57, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

- It was deleted because it looks like a copyright violation (copyvio), which is copying someone else's work without permission. Also, it does not assert notability. An article should state, in the first paragraph, why the subject is notable. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 15:19, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

- Hello. I didn't see anything that met WP:CORP, and therefore it lacked a notability assertion (A7 speedy deletion). Local restaurants are usually written up at one point or another in its local newspaper; is there any evidence this restaurant is notable outside of Manchester? Cheers, Fang Aili talk 17:46, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Notability assertion? There was no claim that it was a hugely popular restaurant or known widely outside Manchester. You said that restaurants are usually written about in their LOCAL newspaper, the reference I put was from the Hartford Courant, the state's main newspaper and not from the Journal Inquirer, which is the regional newspaper. I don't really understand why it was deleted, I simple created it to give it space on Wikipedia as a reference for future surfers. Perhaps, if there wss something not accordance with the Wikipedia Guidelines, then it would have been more proper to have a discussion as wer having now, thanks. 17:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, well let's go over WP:CORP. The primary criterion is "A topic is notable if it has been the subject of non-trivial coverage by two or more published works." I do realize that WP:CORP is a guideline and not a rule, but I just didn't see a notability assertion in the article. Articles should answer the question, "why does this matter?" --Fang Aili talk 18:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Intervention request
[edit]Hi, was wondering if you could have a word with User:Belovedaunt. This user keeps adding unsourced, copyrighted and POV material to this article- Enderby, Leicestershire. I have requested that they cite sources for some of the claims and the reply was "I have local knowledge". I have no wish to engage in an edit war but I do keep removing the unsourced material only to have it reverted, please help!--Speed Air Man 17:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Regards, Sdansher (talk · contribs)
- I do not know what you mean by "something like you have for Gustavo Cisnero". Also, it's hard to know what you're talking about if you do not provide exact page names. But I remember that some of those were deleted because they were advertisments, or they looked like resumes. Wikipedia cannot accept such articles. They also looked like they may have been copied from a website, which is also not acceptable. Basically, articles need to say why it/he/she matters, and should be written in your own words. See the notability guidelines for more on what is considered notable. Also, if you create any articles in the future, please do not use all CAPS. Thanks. --Fang Aili talk 20:36, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Vandal at it again
[edit]Hi Aili, User:Belovedaunt is doing it again with the Enderby, Leicestershire article, now adding citation tags to nearly every sentence. I have more verifiable material to add to this article to help improve it but I am becoming very frustrated and I'm already thinking that I should not bother trying to contribute! Not only is this user reverting my edits but is also reverting edits to other articles I am trying to improve. Lastly, I believe that User:TomTomOne (who has vandalised my user page) and User:217.44.3.23 are all the same person. I don't like pointng the finger but I believe that these users intentions are nothing but disruption. Maybe a warning tag on the user talk pages or a block? Businessmen
[edit]Dear Fang Aili:
My apologies for the Caps. I did not know they could not be used. As to Gustavo Cisneros, what I meant is that this person who is a Venezuelan businessman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustavo_Cisneros), and is almost at the same level as Dionisio Gutierrez or the rest of the personalities I mentioned, for example, has a bio in Wikipedia. All the things I say about Dionisio and the rest can be prooved from reliable sources. Do you want me to redraft them to include sources? All of them are very important personalities of Central America. Juan Jose Gutierrez, for example, was in the cover of Businessweek recently as one of the most important CEOs for his brand Pollo Campero. Dionisio is also a journalist, as mentioned in my paper, and hosts the no. 1 show in Guatemala on Sunday evenings which is called "Libre Encuentro." Corporacion Multi Inversiones isthe largest conglomerate in Central America and the Caribbean. These papers have not been copied from any website.
If you would like me to resend you a copy of my papers for your review, I would be more than happy to do so. And if you would like me to redraft my papers to proove they are reliable facts, I would gladly do so. Please let me know.
Thanks a million!
- You can go ahead and recreate them if you like. Yes, sources would be great. Just make sure you say why s/he is important, and have a look at Notability and Biographies of living persons. Let me know if you have questions. --Fang Aili talk 14:00, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Hello Fang Aili. You have recently deleted page InnoInco - 14:47, 13 April 2007 Fang Aili (Talk | contribs) deleted "Innoinco" (WP:CSD G11 - advertising).
I remember I have posted this page before and it had much less of an informative content and I was suggested to review this page and add more of informative, encyclopedic content and less of a company advertisement. That is exactly what I tried to do with this new page you have deleted. I did try to put it together in a way, that I WOULD NOT advertise company, but instead provide essential information about it and its history. I thought I did a good job with it, but appears that not good enough :-).
Could you please spare few minutes of your time and review the innoinco page, that was deleted and let me know, what exactly should be removed (or added) to innoinco page so that I would not get under criteria of WP:CSD G11
Thank you in advance. --Innoinco 18:04, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- I looked over it again. And you're right, it's not terribly spammy, it just doesn't say why the company is notable according to Wikipedia's standards. Just like we don't have articles on every garage band, we don't have articles on every business just because it's a business. Have a look at those notability pages and let me know if you still think it should have an article. Also, if you would like a copy of it sent to you, email me using the "E-mail this user" link on the left, under 'toolbox'. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 14:00, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
You removed this page citing "Advertising" - I use this product daily at a variety of properties, and since its acquisition by Zhone Technologies, very little information can be found about the support for these products. I hoped by starting a wiki entry that I could bring together all the documentation left online in an attempt to help other Net Admins who need to support these products in other areas.
I heavily rely on Wikipedia for a variety of definitions and resources about the products that I use at work. I'm not advertising that you should or should not use Paradyne products, I'm only saying "if you use them - here are some links to facts/pdfs/FAQs whatever you need"
For example - there is scant information listed on VCI - Paradyne uses VCI technology exclusively with their ADSL products, and I started that article searching for more information on determining which VCI settings are proper for residential use.
The wiki entry wasn't finished - please restore it as a useful resource for a niche product that many Net Admins are probably having a hard time supporting and learning about.
You can't get any information out of Zhone without a paid support contract - I think that information should be free - that's the purpose of Wikipedia right? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Misaiato (talk • contribs) 18:57, 13 April 2007 (UTC).
- I appreciate your goals. Yes, we're trying to give away a free encyclopedia. I'll "userfy" the article for you so you can finish it. I will put it here: User:Misaiato/Paradyne so you can work on it in your own time. Let me know if you have any questions. --Fang Aili talk 14:00, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Asada Mao and Kim Yu na
[edit]I'm an irregular contributor so I'm not an expert on Wikipedia rules and style: and this isn't a major complaint so I'll trust your judgement. However, I think it is relevant to their articles that Mao Asada and Kim Yu-Na are the same age, height, similar jumping and spinning ability, and always strongly competing with each other for first place at various events. In particular the Japanese and Korean media in their competition coverage never seem to mention one without mentioning the other. I'll leave it up to you. (My IP sometimes changes so I probably can't read your reply). Thanks for your time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.17.48.207 (talk) 05:07, 15 April 2007 (UTC).

- Ok, I'll restore it. Please add a notability assertion, that is, why should this have an encyclopedia article? Thanks, Fang Aili talk 14:00, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Seeing that you visited and renamed the article, I assume you noticed we added content and references. We hope this somehow settles the notion of notability :-) if it doesn't (and I misunderstood the use of the word "assertion" then), please let us know. In any case the deletion of the article helped us unslack and make the article more usefull after all, so thank you! Betabug 14:37, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Not really, actually. Do you have any stats on how many websites use Zwiki, or how many people use it, something like that? How about some reviews from independent sources? According to Wikipedia:Notability (web), "A notable topic has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works that are reliable and independent of the subject." I am not trying to be hard on you, and I have no interest in deleting the article again. I'm just trying to help you create a better article. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 14:42, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- We don't really know how many sites use Zwiki, hey it's an open source project, anyone can use it without telling us. http://del.icio.us/tag/zwiki-site currently lists around 40, http://zwiki.org/ZwikiSites lists another 40 or so (but is sometimes very outdated and overlapping). Do you think it would be a good idea to give those links? (I think they are a bit vague.) As for "non-trivial published works that are reliable and independent of the subject", that's what the two articles in the "External Links" section are. Both ZopeMag and InfoToday are not affiliated with Zwiki in any way. Anyway, we're looking for more of the same. Thank you again! Betabug 15:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

norange is a floating spark from a fire.
[edit]Wikipedia is a learning and educating vehicle. If more people are aware of a word, they will use it if they feel it apt. At some point the word "proliferate" was created. Someone else used it and it became accepted by the masses. Just because you don't like the word "proliferate" doesn't mean other people should be denied the right to choose to use it. Can a word exist if no one uses it? no. Please don't deny other people the right to choose whether or not they want to use the word. In the interest of communication - norange provides a description for an object that has none. At least leave the description up for a few weeks to gauge the response.

[edit]About signatures, there's a lot of info at WP:SIG. But here's some quick directions:
- Go to "my preferences" (at the top right of the screen).
- In the signature box, insert [[User:Athangjain|]] ([[User talk:Athangjain|talk]])
- Make sure the "Raw signature" box is checked.
- Save.
That should do it. You can also play around (to a certain extent) with your signature. For example, I have my talk link raised a little, and green. The code looks like this:

Lounging Sound page deletion
[edit]M'am, Lounging Sound is an online radio station that has been up and running since 2002. We have over 18,000 visitors per day and are not seeking to advertise on Wikipedia. Rather, we find ourselves a viable source of credited Ambient music (for internet radio) and we have permissions from the labels and artists we play. We are non-profit as well (thus, advertising would really be not what we are seeking to accomplish here). Also, we've only recieved 44 total hits from Wikipedia at all and do not find it a reliable source for advertising. However, again, we do find it important to be informative as a source for online radio in the various genres we play. We are currently upgrading and redoing our website which will include the biography that we'd posted on Wiki. Finally, we broadcast at high quality and are considered in the elite of similar radio stations including Soma.fm & Digitally Imported. Thank you for considering my request to have our entry on Wikipedia republished. J. Snodgrass —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Genfish (talk • contribs) 20:07, 27 April 2007 (UTC).
- Please see Wikipedia's guidelines for web content. Has Lounging Sound been reviewed in any independent publications? Do you have an independent source to support your claim of 18,000 visitors/day? How can your site be that popular if "Lounging Sound" yields only 43 unique Google hits? [1] Please respond. I would like to help you. --Fang Aili talk 20:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Ms. Aili,
Lounging Sound has been reviewed by several online sources and has been verified by artists and labels as well over the past 5 years. Also, we are continuing to grow and gain popularity. I could ask several of our artists and labels to add our link to their website and am confident they would do it. Right now, we are not focused on that as a station. As I may have mentioned, Lounging Sound took 3rd or 4th (can't remember honestly) in the best internet radio stations in our genre at Morpheus Music. They are a credited source I imagine. I don't have an independent source to verify the hits. However, I could provide you with a link to our statistics page if you so request. ... Thank you for responding and if you have any more questions, please ask. Too, is it possible that you could email me your next response? grass_dweller@hotmail.com
Thanks again.

- I'm pretty sure it means how many characters have been changed since the last edit. So (-19) would mean a net loss of 19 characters. They are somewhat useful because you can see how "big" the change was, but if one paragraph was changed to a paragraph of equal length, it wouldn't tell you that. It only just shows the size change. So still manually check edits on your watch list. --Fang Aili talk 12:41, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

You deleted A Call For Christian Unity
[edit]I am new to Wikipedia. The only exception I saw for removal of entries is for advertisement. You said you removed it for proselytizing. I want a place where people can come together and write about the similarities of their faiths. Even if one is atheistic, I would welcome that. It is not proselytizing if you are not looking to convert anyone. I don't care if I convert anyone because that is not the intent of the article. It is to show similarities of faiths when most look for divisions. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Udarnick (talk • contribs) 21:03, 28 April 2007 (UTC).--udarnick 21:18, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Adoption
[edit]Hello! I see your seeking adoption. If your still interested I'd me more then happy to answer your questions and help you out. You can respond back to this by leaving a message here. If you have decided that you no longer wish to be adopted, please remove the adoptee's userbox from your userpage. Thanks, hope to hear from you soon! Matthew Yeager 02:02, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Please could someone start a page about the word "Byahh". The main reason i started the word byahh is because there is no page on the popular term. I would apreciate if someone could start a page that contains factual information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allencd10 (talk • contribs)
- If you actually think this is a notable term, then go ahead and create an article. But please add sources to back up the information. Urban Dictionary is not considered a reliable source. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 16:18, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Adoption Program
[edit]Hello again and welcome to the adoption program!
Please take some time to think about what you would like out of this program and what you can devote to it. After you have thought about this please message me on my talk page about which areas you would like to focus on. As well, if you are completely new or you are not sure, you can let me know that and I can give you a general overview. You will get as much as you put in with this program. If you would like me to be someone that you can ask questions to every once and a while, then thats who i'll be. Yet, if you wish to be in constant contact with me and have me go over your work with you each day or so, then thats who i will be. This is your choice, just please let me know :P
Also if you could please remove the adoptee userbox from your userpage so that others know you have been adopted. If you like you can replace it with this user box: {{adoptee}} Thank you for your time, Matthew Yeager 16:47, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've already tl-ify'd the adoption request boxes that were left on my talk page. I'm an adopter, not an adoptee, and I have adopted 2 users. What do I expect to get out of this? Well, I tend to think it means being here to answer questions, and to check in with my adoptees now and then. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 17:29, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

non-obvious vandal
[edit]Hi, I respect your assessment that my recent nomination for blocking may have been in error, and agree that this user's behavior is different from most vandals. But I feel it's essential that something be done. Can you suggest an alternative? I don't want to violate WP:CANVASS, and I'm not sure what remedies are available between that and a block. -Pete 19:39, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I did a little digging about Interstate 2, and it looks like it might exist. Or at least some major road(s) named #2 exist. See Talk:Interstate 2. If he's acting in good faith, then I'm not going to block him. He did have a string of vandalism on the 27th, but if he's stopped vandalizing there's no need to block him now. Has he vandalized since his last warning (not counting Interstate 2)? --Fang Aili talk 19:49, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I see Pete beat me here. Thanks for being a good Wikipedian and assuming good faith about Deathgleaner--I'm afraid I'm a bit more cynical about his I-2 article. He's done some almost-but-not quite vandalism, mostly useless edits and unexplained changes, which I have reverted. I know you can't block him for that, but like Pete, I'd like to know what to do short of waiting for him to get bored and go away. Katr67 19:56, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I just gave him a "final warning". [2] Does this suffice? Please contact me if you need a block performed. --Fang Aili talk 20:00, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. Maybe I've been a bit impatient. I think he has the potential to be a very productive editor, and being overly-aggressive with blocks definitely wouldn't help bring that about. I think your "final warning" - this time with an Admin's teeth to back it up - is the appropriate thing at this point. Thanks! :) -Pete 20:06, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello there. My name is Nicholas Buzanski and I have recently become a user here. I noticed that under Independent Bookstores that there were quite a few but not Green Apple Books & Music which has been in the same location for 40 years. I always see it being voted best Used and Independent Bookstre in the Bay Area by The San Francisco Bay Guardian, SF Weekly, San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Magazine. It is a staple in the Richmond District, San Francisco, California which is another link. When I tried to create an entry for this store. You deleted it and then I realized I had done it wrong. I could not find the way to request the page. I have since gone to Green Apple and got some historical information from them. How do I make this work.
Thanks, Nicholas nicholas@nocornerspress.com Nbuzanski 21:54, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Nicholas. All articles need to meet Wikipedia's guidelines for notability. Here it is in a nutshell:
A company, corporation, organization, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, independent of the subject and independent of each other. The depth of coverage of the subject by the source must be considered. If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources should be cited to establish notability. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. Once notability is established, primary sources may be used to add content. Ultimately, and most importantly, all content must be attributable.
- Based on what you said above, Green Apple Books & Music probably qualifies as notable. I will restore the page so you can add some information and sources. Let me know if you have questions. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 14:47, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for putting the page back up. I am trying to edit now and get everything set. Sorry for my bumbling. I didn't mean to add it the first time, I was just trying to preview it. I will add more information and get some sources in there. Thanks again for being so cool. Nbuzanski 20:14, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. :) In the future, if you'd like to work on an article before submitting it, you can put it in your "user space", like User:Nbuzanski/Article name, and move it to "Article name" when you're done. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 20:30, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Your deletion: Biblical Prophecy Fulfilled?
[edit]You deleted this due to the following. Please explain why since I found related articles on Wikipedia very negatively biased in terms of religion. How can you just delete this without any consideration? Do you find my proof items non-objective?
"Of course, an article can report objectively about such things, as long as an attempt is made to approach a neutral point of view."
??? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JLMarais (talk • contribs) 22:07, 30 April 2007 (UTC).
If Evidence of prophecy is allowed, why is that? It is similar to my article, but just negative - saying that prophecy is nonsense.
This is very upsetting. JLMarais 22:15, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi Fang Aili, FAC Concerns
[edit]Hello, thanks for responding to the FAC page of Shen Kuo. I have one question though, what did you mean by the headers and sub-headers not making sense (besides the Book Chapters one)? In any case, I have changed the 'Book Chapters' heading to 'Dream Pool Essays' instead. I at least got to one of your requests so far. Lol. None of my sources list any of the many languages the book has been translated into, although Chinaculture.org does (English, French, German, and Japanese). However, Chinaculture.org is not a very credible source, and I do not want to list it in the article beyond the 'External links' section. Do you know of where I could find out what languages it has been translated into? Besides, of course, going to amazon.com or something. Thanks.--PericlesofAthens 20:04, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure about translations--a librarian would probably be happy to help.
- Headers--they seem to overlap. "Life and achievements" sounds like pretty much everything one would put in an encyclopedia article. "Scholarly achievements" overlaps with "Science and technology".
- Overall, you want to give a sense of continuity, from early to later life. This doesn't have to be rigidly imposed, but the article should "flow" naturally.
- Here's a suggestion off the top of my head:
==Birth and youth==
==Career and later life==
==Scholarly achievements==
===Navigation===
===Geology===
===(more)===
==''Dream Pool Essays''==
==Legacy==
==See also==
(References, etc.)
- Does that make sense? --Fang Aili talk 20:20, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Erica ;)
Sorry - new to Wikipedia. Please can you tell me why my article was deleted? I think that it is of genuine interest to the public - particularly as it serves to put together an archive of family history for free.
Thanks

- These articles were deleted as advertising. Wikipedia cannot accept such articles. In addition, all article subjects should be notable. For more on what constitutes "notable", see WP:WEB (guidelines for online content). I can hardly think that a website setup today (May 2007) is notable. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 21:19, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi Fang
Thanks for your comments. I understand what you are saying about being notable. The fact that the archiving initiative is being backed by the BBc and the Daily Telegraph (UK's leading broadsheet paper) and has been getting publicity on BBC RAdio 4, The History Channel and Woman's Hour R4 - shows that there is massive support behind the concept of the Nations' Memorybank and that it is a unique initiative.
Please could you reconsider? I'm happy to make changes where you deem necessary.
Thanks

Green Apple
[edit]Hi there Fang, I read through the How to Upload an image and about the copyright problems. I was told that I can use a photo that is on the Green Apple Website that was taken by Kevin Hunsanger. I know that I need to give him credit, link to the website, and allow it to be approved. What do I put in the Licensing section?
Thanks for all your help, I'm slowly figuring this all out. Nbuzanski 22:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- I found a tag that might be appropriate:
{{Cc-by-2.5}}.
- But since you already uploaded a free, similar picture, would you like Image:Greenapplebookstore.JPG deleted? There doesn't seem much point it keeping it around.
