Abdou Sarr

Hello Flat Out! Sorry for the confusion, the page "Abdou Sarr" was not an autobiography. I was writing it after seeing a teen app developer get mentioned several times on multiple news outlets for his work on a popular app. If it makes any difference, I will link the articles mentioned below this message and hopefully you can reinstate the page, or help to write a new one (Im really new to this and any help would be great!).

http://www.cnet.com/products/celestial/ http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-04-14/a-teenager-built-an-app-to-prevent-college-panic http://www.ctvnews.ca/ctv-news-channel/video?clipId=572895 http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/ottawa-teen-s-relaxation-app-celestial-hits-top-50-1.2990728 http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/high-school-students-relaxation-app-riding-high http://metronews.ca/news/ottawa/1311235/ottawa-made-relaxation-app-blazing-up-the-itunes-chart/

Just to clarify again, I am not Abdou Sarr.

Thanks for your message TheAppGuy. I nominated the article for deletion but I didn't delete it. I don't think the subject of the article meets the criterias for notability. See WP:BLPNOTE and WP:RS. Best wishes Flat Out (talk) 00:21, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi

Hope doing good. I am an employee of YASH Technologies, I was trying to look for YASH Technologies details in Wikipedia and found the article has been block in 2012. When asked from one of my colleague I found they are struggling hard from past 3-4 months to get the article approved. The draft is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:YASH_Technologies

This was last disapproved by you, can you please suggest and advice how can we proceed further and what more changes we need to make here so that its as per Wikipedia's guidelines and approved. Please help us edit this so that its available in search results and anyone can see it.

Thanks a lot for help. Looking forward for your assistance. Shruti.jain12 (talk) 10:17, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Shruti.jain12 (talk) 10:17, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Shruti.jain12, the article was last edited by me in March and I made an note on the page explaining the problem. No-one has edited the article since. The subject doesn't meet WP:CORP and reads as a promotional piece. Flat Out (talk) 02:18, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Help with a BLP?

Hi, Flat Out! You helped me once before, many months ago, when I went astray, and I was wondering if I might prevail upon you again. I have been editing Lee Siegel (cultural critic) following a controversy the subject was involved in last week, and the subject of the article has come in. He's upset, and he doesn't really understand wikipedia. I've pointed him at various resources he can go to multiple times, and I've tried to answer his concerns multiple times, but he just wants to keep editing to make the article more positive. I really don't want to do anything official -- I feel like if -he- wants to start a request at the Biographies of Living Persons noticeboard, that should be his call. And he's said a few things that could get him into trouble, which I don't want. He's just upset, and I do understand why. But he seems to think that I must be someone who knows him and has it in for him, otherwise why would I be editing the article about him to say 'negative' things. I'm not sure what to do. I've been very careful to source everything and have tried hard to write neutrally. But I thought maybe another set of eyes might be good -- maybe you would be able to say that I should pull back on something. At any rate, I think it's probably early Monday morning your time, so if you don't have time or the inclination, of course just ignore this.valereee (talk) 23:11, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

valereee thanks I've had a bit of a look. I'm not sure which editor is involved as they are not signing their posts on the article's talk page. Flat Out (talk) 06:29, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, he's not indenting or signing on the talk page, and he's commenting out of order sort of at random so it's pretty confusing to read. I was actively editing the page when he arrived, so I experienced it in real time. Siegel is IP 173.70.22.182. LOL, not coincidentally, you pretty much went in and removed everything he'd added to "make it more balanced." Thanks for the input/edit...maybe at least now he won't think it's just ME with a grudge against him. valereee (talk) 08:19, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
valereee my only advice is that when it stops being about the article, take it to their talk page and don't be afraid to issue warnings. He is not here. Flat Out (talk) 05:06, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, you're right about that. He seems to be winding down. I'm going to just let it sit for a nice long time. No hurry to get it perfect, and he's been piled onto from every direction recently. valereee (talk) 09:21, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Pipeline (song)

Hi Flat, deleting Pipeline (song) is fine with me; but there seems to be something strange; when I click its Talk page to see the discussion, I get taken to the talk page for Pipeline (instrumental), which is of course something different and far more notable. So, to clarify, I'm happy with the deletion of the song, but not the instrumental.

Thanks for the notification. Paul Magnussen (talk) 16:29, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Paul Magnussen. My apologies, you got caught up in a wave of work we were doing to undo about 20 articles created by another editor. I have fixed the problem with the talk page and have redirected the article to the album its from. Thanks for raising this with me, Flat Out (talk) 00:25, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Information icon Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. I dream of horses (talk to me) (contributions) @ 08:22, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Help

As I told you earlier, I had removed speedy deletion by mistake. I am new on wikipedia. But you have not answered my question as to why are you reporting the page to speedy deletion. If there is some problem with the page, tell me, I will sort it out.

You have removed the template twice. I have nominated the article for deletion because it does not have a reliable source and because there is no evidence that the subject of the article meets Wikipedia standards for notability, see WP:BLPNOTE. Flat Out (talk) 09:12, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Why

Why do you change so many things and edit them and when do you have the time to edit these like I have only edited two and you have edited 22,000 something but whatever it is 👍🏻s up to you. Lolmynameisbrian (talk) 15:16, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

LOL! Yeah, how DO you do it? On a serious note, keep in mind that not all edits are created equal. Vandalism reversion and new page patrolling racks up edits quickly due to the nature of the contributions, whereas creating entire articles yields low edit counts for work that could be much more significant (comparing, say, one good article to 10 vandalism reversions). @Lolmynameisbrian: ~ RobTalk 16:16, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Exactly, lots of edits doesn't really mean much compared with editors who create really good content. I've tried to mix things up a bit so I don't get bored and from time to time I do a run of countervandalism which racks up the edits. Flat Out (talk) 21:28, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Error

I did not edit the Lester Halt article like you said I did. Lester Halt (talk) 02:18, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Lester Halt, the article history says otherwise. Flat Out (talk) 02:22, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
@Lester Halt and Flat Out: The confusion is that Flat Out linked to Lester Halt on User talk:Lester Halt. The article that was edited was a very similarly spelled Lester Holt, which is a completely understandable error given the similarities between your username and the article name. Regardless of this typo, the content of Flat Out's message is extremely applicable, Lester Halt, and I'd recommend that you review it if you ignored it due to this issue. In particular, see WP:BPCOI. ~ RobTalk 02:59, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Chris Kerr

Hello Flat Out, as I am new to Wikipedia, would you mind explaining in more detail why you nominated my article for deletion as I was careful, I thought to follow Wikipedia protocol? I did appeal the speedy deletion on the grounds that Chris Kerr (tailor) is historically important to both Soho and the UK fashion industry but it disappeared almost immediately — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rossfurlong (talk • contribs) 09:20, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Rossfurlong and welcome. Articles should be accurate summaries of what reliable sources (news, interviews, books, journals etc) have to say about a subject. The tone of the article was promotional and did not have sources which support the notability of the subject. I would encourage you to try again but to use the articles for creation process. I am more than happy to assist you in any way I can. Best wishes, Flat Out (talk) 22:39, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

A "Cheer-eeo", "Hello" from USA

I don't examine User Pages, or Talk Pages a lot, and I have "much" on my watchlist. You gave me a "Cookie", but more so, I appreciated looking at your User and Talk Pages. I am retired, but I started on the Amarna letters and cuneiform, 10-15 years ago. It is so Kool, as is Wikipedia, and the people one can meet. I appreciated seeing what you had to say, and "thanks for the cookie".
(I did work on geology categories in the Grand Canyon of the USA Category:Grand Canyon, making lots of articles. Eventually a "geologist" came along and "professionalized" what I had done, but he went further, and I was able to add the pictures (from Grand Canyon, that I knew about). A great one is of a condor(bird), telephoto-shot, but one can see the geology behind it. (Only 1 good picture out of 100's can make a difference.)(It shows the Bright Angel Shale, (the geologist's article, one of the few I didn't create.))....Again, Cheers!....(a devotee, in the USA)----Mmcannis (talk) 02:15, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Tagging for merge

This NorA Efflux Pump and Staphylococcus aureus was copied from [1]. When a brand new editor creates excellent content in a few edits makes sure to also check for copyright issues :-) All other edits are also copied and pasted gah. Otherwise agree merge was an excellent idea. Best Doc James (talk ¡ contribs ¡ email) 12:16, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
