Amendments to Jennifer Connelly Pop Videos section of Wikipedia page

[edit]

Good afternoon. I see that you reversed my edits of the Jennifer Connelly page. I freely admit that I made a "mess" of the chart, but I was hoping that someone would simply clean this up, rather than just completely delete my information! What I entered was completely factually correct, as I only discovered myself two days ago, so please reinstate it. As for an amendment from "the couple has" to "the couple have" being unnecessary..this is just good English grammar. It "has", they "have". In addition, Jennifer Connelly was not in the 1982 A Flock of Seagulls video for Space Age Love Song. The various videos being widely viewed on Youtube at the moment have Space Age Love Song in them, whereas the Film from which the videos are taken, Career Opportunities, had a totally different song, and wasn't even released until 1990. Perhaps you can also delete this erroneous reference in the chart of Pop Videos? I hope this clears the matter up. Thank you. Anthony — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.102.150.231 (talk) 17:49, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Anthony. As for "has" against "have": the use of "has" in that phrase seems to be particular to American English. As you can see on the talk page, there is a template noting the fact that the article is written in American English. As for the information on the videos, I'd be more than happy to make the changes if you provide reliable sources for her being in the Duran Duran video (something that at the time the article was written, it was nowhere to be found). And, as for "Flock of Seagulls", we sure can look into that.
The idea is to obviously get the information right. Being that it is a Good Article means that you need to provide citations for the content. A few changes were made since I last worked on this article years ago (the chart wasn't even there). References can be added for every single music video too. And as a side note, there is such thing as a "Show Preview" button. The people who work on the charts take the time to make them nice. I don't think that leaving others to "clean up the mess" and moving on is the right approach either. But as I said, we can reinstate those changes if provided with the sources.--GDuwenTell me! 11:40, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kui Lee

[edit]

Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Kui Lee has been completed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

This sentence in the Early life section, "Lee began to compose songs as a teenager. He was regarded as a quick learner, and an articulate student, who often missed classes to pursue his hobby of surfing." is cited using a self-published source (iUniverse) which are not generally acceptable. You may want to try to find a more reliable source to include in the article.

Best of luck with the GAN.

Regards,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 14:05, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Twofingered Typist: Thanks for copy-editing, and the suggestion. About the source, I'll discuss it with the reviewer. I can back it up with another newspaper article, but I just didn't want to abuse too much of the only two newspapers that were chronicling him. I understand the fact that it is self-published, but I don't necessarily consider it unreliable.--GDuwenTell me! 18:07, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:The Long Hot Summer Soundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in The Long, Hot Summer#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:45, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:The Long Hot Summer Soundtrack.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion. Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:03, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's Life

[edit]

First, don't respond on my talk page. I will just move what you said here. Now, you created the article for Willie Nelson's upcoming album That's Life. I see references has a section for sources. That's not what you do. It's redundant and lazy referencing. You put the sources throughout the article. By not doing that, we don't know what you're specifically referencing. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 09:08, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Fishhead2100: For starters you can change that any time by editing the article's page, that is how Wikipedia works. Different users edit it, and your contributions are most welcome. You can also comment directly on the article's talk page if you don't desire to change it yourself. You may dislike the way I use references (diving footnotes and sources), and that is up to you. But we never interacted before, and if you want to point out something there are more respectful ways of addressing fellow editors (or even strangers).--GDuwenHoller! 22:10, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
All I was doing was letting you know. Those are not footnotes. Those are sources/references. As I said, you put the sources in the article not in the footnotes. Oh and the sources don't actually point to a source. It just opens the article in a new tab or window. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 02:09, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fishhead2100: I use shortened footnotes in all of my articles. They consist of the author name, year of publication, and page number (when citing books or newspapers). If you click on the footnote, it highlights the source article on the bottom in blue, without opening any sort of new tab or window. You can see the same system used in several Featured articles including: Elvis Presley, Battle of Lagos, Crécy campaign, etc. Someone already changed it in My Way, and the referencing style for that article does not make any difference to me whatsoever. I just happened to be the person who created the article, and I personally use that referencing style.--GDuwenHoller! 12:33, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It can be seen as a redundancy to do it that way. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 04:35, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fishhead2100: Far from truth, as reflected per Wikipedia:Citing sources or Wikipedia:Inline citation. Both of those pages are within the scope of Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Let's just don't take this any further because it is a waste of time.--GDuwenHoller! 12:16, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
