Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Throast

You deleted this investigation request. Please tell me why you feel it doesn't warrant a response? I did this research in good faith, and you didn't bother to look at the editor overlap on all these relevant pages. It has taken me many many hours and my finding would prove that there is some Sock/Meat puppetry and WP:NPOV issues. Please check these overlaps in edits and this and also Heavy interactions between Throast and Popoki35. Chessterb (talk) 23:12, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I'm another SPI clerk and I was about to tag the page for deletion before GeneralNotability beat me to it. Your filing was a ludicrous pile of unsupported accusations that accused numerous long-term editors of sockpuppetry with no valid evidence. You did not create it "in good faith" - you created it because someone paid you to do so. You are lucky that you weren't blocked for this. Spicy (talk) 23:20, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
It's impossible that either of you read my complete complaint and checked my provided evidence in such a short time. It was deleted within 5 minutes. I realize that some of the mentioned users were long time editors and maybe I should not have included them (so that was my bad). The main issues that I found were with 3 editors, but because of incident in the TALK page where everyone of of these editors supported each other in removing Ryan's title from being a "PRODUCER" which cannot be disputed based on various citations and the movie credits themselves, my conclusion was that these editors must be fans of the Youtube channel H3H3Productions, where Ethan Klein posted a 33 minute video talking about Ryan's Wiki page. It was viewed by 38,000+ people. so chances are some of his fans were Wiki editors and came to the page after to make negative edits. I simply included all the editors involved so you guys could make that decision as to who could be involved.
Why was this request deleted immediately without any consideration rather than replied to and closed? maybe a few admins could have commented and then declined it. I made some very valid arguments and provided evidence per Wiki policies. There were some obvious violations, specifically with WP:NPOV and also potentially at least 1-2 UPE's or socks involved. Chessterb (talk) 01:13, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
Chessterb, Spicy summarized my thoughts on it well. No, I did not read every diff you provided, but I've seen plenty of filings like this one. The connections you drew between the accounts were tenuous at best ("both used the word 'lyfe'"? "both used words like 'unsourced' and 'paraphrased' in their edit summaries"? If you actually think those are distinguishing features, then your employer should ask for their money back!). Bluntly, it looks like you were throwing accusations at a bunch of people who don't like the guy paying you, hoping that some of them stick (yes, that isn't assuming good faith...but you quite clearly disclosed that you were being paid to do this investigation, and I have a hard time imagining that they were paying you to be fair and evenhanded). You are using SPI as a weapon to further your employer's interests, and I will not tolerate that, nor will I look through your wide range of poorly-supported accusations in hopes that maybe something is actionable. In closing, I would like to direct your attention to something you just said: so chances are some of his fans were Wiki editors and came to the page after to make negative edits. That is entirely possible, and that is neither sockpuppetry nor meatpuppetry. Multiple fans (or detractors) making independent edits to a topic of interest does not make them sockpuppets/meatpuppets. GeneralNotability (talk) 02:30, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
So there is an obvious bias against paid editors. It seems that they are not taken seriously even if they have a valid claim! Even tough I got paid, all my research and findings were based on Wikipedia policies, but you didn't even bother to check. Regarding the sockpuppets /meatpuppets you may have a point with some of these users, but there was an obvious interaction with at least with 2 editors and the common edits they have done. Check this.
Is that just a coincidence that they both edited 22 pages in common usually within minutes or days of each other?
They both edited List of Relativity Media films, Relativity Media and Triller (app) which are Ryan Kavanaugh's company pages. H3h3Productions by both and is possibly their employer.
Also check the common edits by Pabsoluterince. Him and Throast both edited Hila Klein's page (She is wife of Ethan Klein and H3H3 owner) and many more.
Can you please open investigation only on these 4 particular users, since there is compelling evidence? Chessterb (talk) 03:10, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
Why also there are edits to Andrew Tate's page by 2 of these editors when Ethan Klein reveals Andrew Tate sent him a cease and desist letter Coincidence again or were they paid by Ethan to make edits. There is enough here for an investigation. Chessterb (talk) 03:15, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
If there are multiple people interested in a topic, then no, it's not coincidence, it's people sharing an interest. That's still not sockpuppetry. And "editing within minutes or days of each other" isn't proof of anything; the Editor Interaction Analyzer is giving you the smallest gap between edits of one editor and of another, so it's certainly plausible that at some point two people edited very close to one another (particularly if there was some news story or other that they were editing about). And to top it off, Luna Bars 4 Lyfe hasn't edited in a decade. You had your chance to present a case based on "compelling evidence," but you've shown me nothing of the sort, just a few editors who don't like Kavanaugh. I will not be wasting any further time on this misguided effort of yours. GeneralNotability (talk) 03:24, 4 February 2023 (UTC)

Possible Sockpuppet

Hello, hope you're doing well. I recieved an email from User:Arrbgtjai9, they were looking for help to create articles for these two subjects Sheikh Asif and Syed Shahriyar. Looking at the history of Asif, It maybe a hunch but I think this one's a sockpuppet.

They have even created a draft of the latter; Draft:Syed Shahriyar. Also a thing I noticed that they seemed to be aware of most of the basic Wikipedia functions, which made me feel like they've been here before too. Would you mind running a check on this user? Thanks. ✠ Rejoy2003 ✠ (contact) 07:58, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Rejoy2003, thanks, I'll have a look. GeneralNotability (talk) 02:29, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

Fake doppleganger

I'm going to assume that GennralNotabitly ‎is not actually a doppleganger created by you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:50, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Good assumption. GeneralNotability (talk) 02:29, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
Alright. I figured if it were a doppleganger then you would create the userpage marking it as a doppleganger yourself. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:30, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

Arbitration case notification

I am not allowed to discuss such matters. Xx236 (talk) 07:47, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Okay Xx236, we can't exactly compel your participation. GeneralNotability (talk) 13:24, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Hey GN - I suspect that what Xx236 means is that they are TBanned from the subject area 'Poland' (recorded at WP:EDRC). Perhaps you might be able to advise them on the extent to which engaging with the Arb case would be a violation of that ban. Girth Summit (blether) 14:18, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Ah, thank you Girth Summit, I wasn't aware of that. Xx236, I'll discuss this situation with the other arbs - it might be a straightforward application of WP:BANEX, or maybe we need some sort of official pronouncement. GeneralNotability (talk) 17:10, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Xx236, I've talked it over with a couple other arbs, and we're fine saying that your participation in this case is allowed per WP:BANEX. I will make a comment on the case to make that explicit. Speaking only for myself, I do suggest that you be on your best behavior - it is likely that your comments will be subject to more scrutiny than usual because of your topic ban. GeneralNotability (talk) 00:17, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of Page

Hi, On Jan 31st you deleted the page Ridge Cloud that you said was created by a blocked user (Cyrus watson), but I have been watching this page, and I know that it was not created by that person and there was no reason for it to be deleted. It had good content and was related to other pages. Can you restore it? Rgrand123 (talk) 13:57, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Rgrand123, it was not created by the Cyrus watson account itself, but by an account operated by the same person (or group of people) after the original Cyrus watson account was blocked, which made it eligible for deletion under speedy deletion criterion WP:G5 (block/ban evasion). Moreover, it is pretty obvious that the Cyrus watson group of accounts was editing for pay without disclosure, which leads me to a question of my own: what is your connection to Ridge Cloud? RPP

Can you protect this page Desire, I Want to Turn Into You edited many times in last 24 hours. Tswiter (talk) 11:12, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

No, but I can block you...Blogs19. GeneralNotability (talk) 00:49, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

I am not a monster

Two editors describe me in Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case as a "monster", even if I am a victim of François Robere, who topic banned me after a dispute. If someone claims that Icewhiz was a good boy and I have demoralized him, please reference such statement. To make the discussion more crazy I do belong allegedly to one party with Icewhiz. I demand removal of the word monster. Please be serious. Xx236 (talk) 07:42, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Xx236, I believe they are quoting Nietszche - see this quote. I do not believe their intent is to literally call anyone a monster. GeneralNotability (talk) 15:10, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
Perhaps said users could be asked to refactor the statements to make it clear they are not referring to any editor as a monster? I also noticed this term being used, and I don't think it's very helpful without a clarification or such. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:51, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

COI

Hi GeneralNotability! I'm writing to tip you off to a COI that I disclosed via email a few days ago but haven't heard back on. Could you have a look and let me know how to proceed please? TheTranarchist ⚧ Ⓐ (talk) 22:46, 19 February 2023 (UTC)

TheTranarchist, email seen, haven't had a chance to reply yet but there has been some internal discussion. GeneralNotability (talk) 01:14, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the update! No worries, I was just worried it got buried or put on a spam list or something, protonmail can be kinda weird like that. Also, I'm currently stuck in an ANI case, and the editor in question's accusations of "tendentious editing" were used as evidence so I'd been hoping I could provide receipts for them having the COI when I left this original comment.
