The anonymous editor and Total Drama Reloaded

Thank you for helping to keep Total Drama Reloaded free of speculation. In a situation like that, please remember that anonymous users don't always know the reliable source policy, so it's probably a good idea to leave a message for them via the standard warning templates. I would have left {{uw-unsor1}} on the user's talk page the first time I reverted, and then escalated as necessary. Had you warned them in sequence, and had a seen three or four warnings, including a final warning, on their talk page before their last edit, I would have already blocked them.

Because things have gone as far as they have, I've left {{uw-3rr}} on User talk:71.95.186.249 to advise them that any further reverts at the article may result in their IP being blocked. Hopefully they take a look at the policies and either stop adding the text or ask why on the talk page; if they continue adding speculation to the article, they'll likely get blocked.

Don't forget that WP:3RR contains a very narrow exemption for reverting vandalism; I would make sure to put something like "remove blatant speculation" in your edit summaries to make clear why you're reverting and that you're claiming that exemption. —C.Fred (talk) 18:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:TDRLogo1.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TDRLogo1.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Total Drama Aftermath requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ttonyb (talk) 03:41, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

List of Total Drama series characters

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. Please note that we take very seriously our criteria on non-free image uploads and users who repeatedly upload or misuse non-free images may be blocked from editing. April 2011

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of Total Drama series characters. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. ww2censor (talk) 18:59, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

YBITS images

Greetings Gigget:

re: Eastern span replacement of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge

A bit of a problem - on narrow screens (1024, wide by olden day standards, later considered small, but now common in certain cases), the YBITS construction layout with wider images will squeeze the text left into a rather narrow column, while on very wide screens with very small text, the wider YBITS images will cause intrusion into the references section. I thought the size before your latest change was a good compromise to give a reasonable layout for each of these two extreme cases and rather than make your choice smaller (which you had reverted when I did it via IP 67.174.211.196 <= not a permanently fixed IP), I made other changes to acommodate your choice.

While I was suprised at the extremely small text and very wide window required to exhibit the later defect, the former, narrow case is more common:

  • Netbook screens are typically 1024 wide by 600 high (Disney Netpal, various other ASUS eeePC models)
  • iPads are 1024 wide in landscape mode, when rotated to portrait the same filling proportions are preserved (the text is not reflowed), although there is now more display space vertically, this is accomplished by scaling everything smaller in a 768/1024 (3:4) ratio, something iOS does with ease.

If you look at the history you will see that we have both performed extensive work to obtain a good image flow, consistent with the text, and I appreciate you skillful replacement of the rather primitive gallery, which was outgrown by my recent contribution of images.

In short, a reversion to my last layout (or alternative changes that would accomplish our mutually desired ends) would be appreciated.

Note that some (rather pushy) editors think that all images should be in default thumb size, stating that the viewer can always use their own preferences (after registering, logging in, finding that they can and learning how to edit preferences, etc.). The default thumb size results in images that must be expanded (by the ordinary viewer) to be examined, which I consider a waste of bandwidth and a pain. Rather, I prefer a more refined layout with image sizes that work over a wide range of viewing systems. By your extensive work on the article's layout, I suspect that you feel the same.

Best wishes, and thanks for your labors, your response is welcome.

Leonard G. (talk) 00:47, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

P.S. I'd like to get the article up to "A" standard, do you know what it might need? Featured Article (FA) status is to be avoided, it attracts too many pushy editors in my opinion - that was my experience with the SFOBB primary article.

Please use the move function to move pages

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Total Drama (series) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.

As a note, I've started a discussion thread at Talk:Total Drama (series)#(series) disambiguator to see if anybody objects to the move. If there are no objections, I'll move the page by this weekend. Because of the page history at Total Drama, an admin (like me) will need to carry out the move. —C.Fred (talk) 04:22, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Please do not remove others' comments from talk pages

Greetings! I see you've tried to remove two sections of text from Talk:Total Drama: Revenge of the Island. The problem is there are other users' comments in the section, not your own. Accordingly, it's inappropriate to remove the text from the page. In many cases, it's useful to see historical discussion topics later, in case the same situations come up again.

While refactoring comments on talk pages is discouraged, I wouldn't object if you collapsed the sections so readers have to click a [show] button to see them. (I don't know the code for that off the top of my head, though.) —C.Fred (talk) 20:26, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Please review WP:REDACT for guidelines on when and how you may remove your own comments from talk pages. Please note that removing your comments from a conversation and leaving the replies without context is highly frowned upon. Besides, which, your comments are in the page history, so you can't permanently get rid of them. —C.Fred (talk) 17:27, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Don't mess with the navbox template

Do not mess with the navbox template, you just made it look alot worst, and you put it on top of the article. You have absolutely no idea how the standards for articles are. You should at least look at other articles that A class before thinking what you're doing is good. You don't edit your own post either unless if its a small grammar issue. You do not delete your comments, as they are important to have when the discussion is archived.Bread Ninja (talk) 17:45, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

if they're minor then don't bother. As long as it gets the job done.Bread Ninja (talk) 18:45, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry about putting years. they're only addid if they share the same name, is highly unnecessary to put them in. Especially if it vcauses confusion when they re-air.Bread Ninja (talk) 20:28, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm talking about the total drama template. Jsut because they've always been there, doesn't mean they need to be there.Bread Ninja (talk) 20:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
That's unnecessary, and confusing. The navigation box is merely to help someone find other related articles. I set it up to whichever 3 years they premiered. Instead of showing when they aired, and when they ended so it can be easier to navigate. Navigation box isn't a wikitable meant for that type of stuff.Bread Ninja (talk) 21:01, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Notification of peer review request

re: Eastern span replacement of the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge cc: User:Wetman, User:Giggett, User:Sam

Your peer review is requested.

I think that that this article has reached a point of stability and needs little to bring it up to "A" status (currently "B"), probably mostly a check of the external links for link rot. Other than that, which I and Giggett will do, would you care to review for tone, presentation, order, grammar, layout, style, etc. etc.?. One thing I am concerned about is that any change in status will attract image size ***, who will change the images to unreadable postage stamp size (after months of careful "magazine" layout, or who will object to the major sectionalization (after much work and consideration by myself and another editor, this was quickly undone by a previously unseen editor but also quickly reverted by myself), etc.

I would like to maintain this high level status until bridge opening in 2013 and then go for FA status. Your assistance this effort will be appreciated.

Please forward to any editors you think worthy of the invitation, particularly those of a technical, structural, or architectural inclination.

It is my personal belief that this structure will rank among the most significant modern structural+artistic achievements alongside the works of Santiago_Calatrava, Frank Lloyd Wright, and particularly, Jørn Utzon (Sydney Opera House), despite the fact that there is no single big name personality dominating this design.

Thanks, Leonard G. (talk) 23:42, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Bay Bridge

Hi Gigget: Re:ESR-SFOBB If you can figure a way to do this, the YBITS lead two-image gallery looks good in layout with centered images but requires left justified text. Centering the gallery also centers the text (see the Construction Process gallery, that needs it too, but not as desperately. CSS might be required, I could not get CSS to work right, the images with text would block into vertical centering where I wanted top justification of the images. Thanks, Leonard

Found info here, it works fine if images are not flowed, if they do the gallery is left justified: Template:Gallery Leonard G. (talk) 19:01, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
I reverted all, will update any detail changes you added. The order of the sections are logical from the standpoint of east approach, bridge, west approach, and also chronologically. If you feel the main span design is way more important, than move that up, but it would be better to separate into three major sections (perhaps articles) - History, Design, Construction. But please not in a piecemeal manner. On my Mac, using either Safari or Firefox, the YBITS gallery text is left justified, if you see otherwise, please detail me as to equipment, system, and browser you are using. Best wishes, Leonard G. (talk) 00:29, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
I'll recode as gallery to keep any incidental text changes. It figures that you are using MS+IE, although I thought they had outgrown "Embrace-Extend-Extinguish" regarding web standards. I'll see if I can talk the Wikimedia techs into making a <left> that works appropriately as does <center> on text within gallery image titles. Not a big deal on the gallery but the lead pair (YBITS overview and YBI tunnel) overview image has text that looks better left justified, I'll leave that alone for now, change it if you must. I take it you are OK for now with the eastern to western order of things. Note also that the east-of-SAS and the west-of-SAS use entirely different design and construction methods. Leonard G. (talk) 02:47, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
The division into sections was nice, thanks for performing that task. Thanks for keeping the last image in the article. I went out specifically that day (a nontrivial effort) to get the low evening light as that side of the bridge has not been illuminated until near the Summer solstice, and the dramatic sky background is quite rare this time of year (wierd weather here). I was thinking that a "picture of the month" section would be appropriate, showing overall progress, with an emphasis on artistic aspects of the image. Leonard G. (talk) 16:15, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Regarding the article and your suggestion that it is compete, I believe that there is much more to be done (even if there were no further developments, which there will be, of course). I intend to continue to tweek the prose in minor ways, but I do agree with you that the article has reached an overall stable condition, largely due to your efforts in organization. Would you care to research what is needed to bring the article to "A" status for both Wikipedia:WikiProject California and Wikipedia:WikiProject Bridges? (It is currently "B" status on both projects). I do know that we will have to note broken links (these should be marked appropriately, not deleted, see Link rot), and then clean them up (best by Googling to find the new home location, or if deleted by finding alternatives). (Some sites are imposing paywalls over previously free content, another problem.) I will be occupied elsewhere for the next few weeks and welcome your checking the links and in the monitoring of any edits. Thanks very much for your efforts on the article. Best wishes, Leonard G. (talk) 05:30, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
If an external article title uses title caps, shouln't the reference also do so? (i.e, copy the title as written.) Leonard G. (talk) 15:57, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
More on capitalization. I think that the title of an external video or a page title on an external link should be treated the same as a book title, simply show the capitalization and spelling as stated by the author, and if it looks really bad, simply append "sic" (Latin "Thus"), in brackets as [sic], commonly interpreted that that spelling and/or capitalization is "as written" (see WP article Sic). Wikipedia article capitalization is an internal guide for consistency and to avoid unnecessary redirects within WP. Leonard G. (talk) 03:34, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

(this is a dead link_ -Leonard G. (talk) 01:51, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Regarding your edit note: (→SAS main suspension cable: move gallery up to prevent conflict with the unordered list in the bottom and the tower image on previous section above).

This is not quite sensible to me- Moving the gallery up brings it closer to the tower image, not further (IMHO it does not look as nice in overall layout), and I see no conflict with the "unordered list" (is this the location list of the cable wire placement?). If it is browser or window size specific, perhaps you could post a screen snap somewhere and send me a link, or I can e-mail you my private webmail address and you could send it directly. Note that a simple {{clear}} may be appropriate as it will prevent text from being placed adjacent to images. Thanks, 67.174.211.196 (talk) 00:35, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Dates

I was only about the date format. The rest, I can't speak to. - Denimadept (talk) 17:24, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

It's okay, we were only copying the exact titles from the original video sources, but changing the dates will not make the titles exact anymore, so I guess using more properly formatted titles are better Giggett (talk) 17:27, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Just a note on technique:

Linking something without inspecting the results will, if not redlinked, often result in a redirect, shown as a note below the article title.

  • First check the link in the preview (e.g. open link in new window).
  • Inspect to see if it was redirected.
  • If it was, copy the article title directly from the article header, paste that as the leading entry in the link, followed by "|" (pipe).

Thus [[Army Corps of Engineers]] becomes [[United States Army Corps of Engineers|Army Corps of Engineers]]:

If your browser supports showing the actual link you can see the difference with a mouse rollover.

Thanks,

Correction on the TDWT Page

Thank you for correcting my mistake on the TDWT Wikipedia page. I accidentally put Cody instead of Harold on the Baby section of the TDWT Songs chart. I was confused between the two boys since Cody was still in the game and Harold was the lead singer of the song, because it was dedicated to LeShawna.

Accidents can happen, most of the time. Evewn when Heather lost to Alejandro in the Canadian Verison of TDWT, July 16, 2011, 21:45 —Preceding undated comment added 04:45, 17 July 2011 (UTC).

episode numbers

i really doubt the episodes are listed as how you show them. Where's your source? seems like speculation.Bread Ninja (talk) 10:28, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

youtube isn't a reliable source. Also the way the references are setup aren't exactly right either. some of these lead to the same source. For now, unless you can verify that the episodes are officially numbered like that. But for now just remove the overall. It's not necessary for the number of episode "overall" series is. that's why there are prod codes. So please look up a reliable source that has the episode lists.Bread Ninja (talk) 10:52, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
again, that's WP:OTHERCRAP. it's most likely been verified through reliable third party source. ON the other hand, the one in this article isn't verified. and the production code is much different. Not only that but the series holds the same name every time. Unlike the total drama series as each season has a different name. Like i said, look for the episode list.Bread Ninja (talk) 01:26, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

About your WindSeeker edits

Hello, i have wrote this message to notify you to please edit the WindSeeker article when you have sources. I understand you have a source for the "opening" of the ride at Wonderland... but

1: the title says that the ride is BACK OPEN meaning that the ride was open before.

2: the link below tells you that the ride really opened in May.

Jcgoble3 has told you through the edit history page of the article about sources. About the Westcoaster link you added, the link does not work. Please check what you add/change for the article before saving your edits. I really didn't want to write this but i thought it would help reduce the amount undoing edits me and Jcgoble3 have and may have to do in the future. By all means add the WestCoaster link once they release the photo. If you need to talk to me further about this topic or have questions please post a message on MY talk page. You should never replace an article with your own version of one. You lose the edit history on the old copy. In addition, you should not make those drastic edits without specifying a reason and without letting other users talk about it. JDDJS (talk) 21:16, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
you did a good job keeping wikipedia safe Usercameron4ever (talk) 14:19, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

that's in-universe information, plus they are un-sourced. Please look up what in-universe is in WP:INUNIVERSE. If you want to keep the "location" put it in the episode description, but as for the "songs" it's too in-universe and not-so-stressed to add them in general.Bread Ninja (talk) 22:03, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

i don't think they're that relevant....they're not even put important in the series. I don't think we should add them at all. we need "key information" not additional trivial information. We can say each episode changes location and song, but not mention every specific location and name of song.Bread Ninja (talk) 22:09, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Off-topic on Talk:Total Drama: ROTI

I didn't want to say it on the article's talk page and encourage more chaos, but I just have to say it…so I'll say it here. :)

And I'm not saying that section of the talk page is off-topic; I'm saying that my comment is going way off-topic. —C.Fred (talk) 18:25, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I will not undo your edit(s) but one of the things that the reassessment of GA status of the article stated was that youtube can not be a reference. I will give you 2 hours to find another reference before I delete your addition. Remember, we want the article to stay as a GA. Thank-you.--Dom497 (talk) 19:43, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

As much as an excuse this may sound.... I'm kinda busy right now but I'll get back to this later.--Dom497 (talk) 19:46, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Ok I'm back. I just realized that the reference that you are using for your statement is actually the reference I used to support a former statement on the article. The reference was deleted during the GA reassessment because youtube can not be a reference. If you look at the reassessment page, Wizardman did state that.--Dom497 (talk) 20:38, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Until you (or I) find another reference, your statement can not and will not be on the article.--Dom497 (talk) 20:41, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

I know these are invalid refs for wikipedia, but this is just to show you that there is no difference in the Knott's windseeker operation (for rotation operation at the least).
This link shows the WindSeeker at CW testing. The swings do not begin to move until the 13 second mark. In this video, it shows the KBF windseeker operating. The ride begins at the 2:32 mark and the swings begin to rotate at the 2:44 mark. That means the swings begin to rotate at about 12 seconds into the operation. In the end, there is a 1 second difference but it is not enough time difference to say that the operation at KBF is different that the others.--Dom497 (talk) 00:34, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
I found a number of other videos and compared them side by side. It pretty hard to tell if their is in fact a difference. I say lets just drop this as I think we are getting no where. Agree?--Dom497 (talk) 20:09, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

I reverted you leviathan edits as 1) the reference didn't work and 2) update the table as the milestone is completed.--Dom497 (talk) 19:07, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

I got no time to add it but you can. And waiting isn't always the solution...

I don't know how to do that, I can only find the references and post them. Giggett (talk) 19:04, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

December 2011

Your recent editing history at Total Drama Island shows that you are in danger of breaking the three-revert rule, or that you may have already broken it. An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Breaking the three-revert rule often leads to a block.

If you wish to avoid being blocked, instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to discuss the changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. You may still be blocked for edit warring even if you do not exceed the technical limit of the three-revert rule if your behavior indicates that you intend to continue to revert repeatedly.
