Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 12:44, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your identity[edit]

Hello. It is apparent from your contributions that you are not a new user. I ask you to name your previous account(s) so that we can rule out that you are a blocked or banned user evading their sanction, or a sockpuppet account. Thanks,  Sandstein  17:28, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Incorrect. I am simply a smarty-pants who is good at reading the rules. Plus I've kinda gotten addicted to AfD. It'll pass. Are you a bot? Gm545 (talk) 17:44, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • No. I've asked for an investigation of your identity at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Gm545. Please accept my apologies if this turns out to have been unnecessary, but we relatively often find banned or blocked users attempting to rejoin the project via sockpuppet accounts, and your contribution pattern is are similar to that exhibited by some of them.  Sandstein  17:58, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Really? Way to WP:BITE. Unfriendly community you have here. Did I actually do anything wrong in my comments? Gm545 (talk) 18:04, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Considering JamesBWatson's concurring opinion at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Gm545/Archive, I am blocking this recently created account indefinitely because, judging by its editing, it is very likely an established editor's sockpuppet account used to influence the deletion process in non-transparent way, or to circumvent a ban or other sanction. If you wish to appeal this block, you can find instructions for how to do so at WP:GAB.  Sandstein  21:18, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sandstein, in all fairness, how can you block a user out of whim? You have no evidence, just a thought... Newyorkadam (talk) 19:19, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Newyorkadam[reply]
  • To be able to link this account with a known sockmaster, if possible. Repeating what I said on my talk page, the problem isn't any disruption caused by their edits, as such. The problem is that Gm545's edits betray far too much knowledge of Wikipedia process to be those of a new editor, which Gm545 claims to be. Their edits focus on AfD almost exclusively, also extremely atypical in new editors. This behavioral evidence indicates to me that Gm545 is either an alternate account used in a manner incompatible with WP:SOCK to influence the deletion process, or that they are a banned or blocked editor evading their sanction via sockpuppetry. There's plenty of those around. For this reason I recommend against unblocking the account. Should any administrator nonetheless decide to unblock the account, I expect them to take responsibility for any required cleanup tasks should Gm545 in the future be more conclusively determined to be a sockpuppet account, such as reevaluating all AfDs they participated in.  Sandstein  20:49, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Uh, what? That is not something that you can dictate; this is a volunteer effort. And furthermore, if one vote is the tipping balance between whether something is deleted or kept at AFD, that is not a very strong consensus, is it? --Rschen7754 21:02, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm not dictating, just expressing an expectation.  Sandstein  21:09, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

I'd like to appeal based on User:Rschen7754's comments here [1]. Thanks.

Accept reason:

I see no evidence presented to suggest that this account is being used in violation of WP:SOCK. only (talk) 12:53, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the contributions made from this account, which are all either deletion-process related or SPI related, and also noting the obvious familiarity of the editor with Wikipedia procedures and abbreviations, it is clear that this editor has edited before. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 10:48, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Anthony, in all fairness, how can a user be blocked out of whim? You have no evidence, just a thought... Newyorkadam (talk) 19:25, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Newyorkadam[reply]
Please note that the block is not of my making, nor have I refused to unblock; I merely commented, and I stand by my comment. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:21, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what evidence I can provide in my unblock request so that I may continue to edit? Thanks. Gm545 (talk) 18:14, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As I said at the SPI, IMO there is not enough evidence to block, much less do a CU. --Rschen7754 19:18, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that Rschen7544 refused to do a checkuser because of lack of evidence beyond your knowledge of rules, and the above comment can be used for you. --I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 19:24, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you all. Gm545 (talk) 03:41, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! You commented at the discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nahru Lampkin Bongo Man that you were "on the fence." I have since improved the article and added references, in case you want to take another look. Thanks! --MelanieN (talk) 16:47, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
