Your submission

[edit]

I took notice of your article when visiting the Women in Red talk page. Out of curiosity I checked her mentions on google. While true there are no mentions of Liz outside of her authorship and books. I am reminded of other authors who would have remained forever unknown were it not for the books. Such as James Fenimore Cooper and Victor Hugo. Granted that both were prolific and influential, but there influence was a result of their books {{pb||Then there is Harper Lee who authored one book, well two but the second was the original draft of To Kill a Mockingbird and then there is Margaret Mitchell who wrote one book Gone With the Wind, both have their own wikipedia pages. Admittedly they have had a greater impact than Liz. Yet the point is made she has authored two books which have received many mentions in many sources. Her long term impact is yet to be determined. And I almost forgot Diana Gabaldon who wrote a series on one theme and heroine made into a TV series. Is that what it takes to gain notability? WP does not accept "what aboutisms" as a reason or an excuse, yet we do have examples of people who would be unknown were it not for their books. The book is the author and the author is the book..they are inseparable. Liz would indeed be unnotable were it not for the many mentions she has received here is a reference, here is another here is another perhaps you can work these into her article and resubmit, with a comment such as my "the author is the book, the book is the author"..Oldperson (talk) 22:19, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've only just seen this comment after being distracted by other things. Thank you so much for this. My enthusiasm for WP was beginning to flag, both in terms of my own ability to spot a 'worthy' subject, and for the bar being set so high for acceptance. You're correct, the author and their books are inseparable! I will try again - and thanks again for giving me the encouragement to do so. A tag has been placed on File:Gillian K Ferguson Poet.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
