Welcome

[edit]

Hello, HighwayMaster, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

If you are interested, there is already a community of users who are roadfans or who edit articles about roads, just like you! Stop by any of these WikiProjectsWP:HWY (worldwide), WP:CRWP (Canada), WP:INR (India), WP:UKRD (United Kingdom), or WP:USRD (United States) — and contribute. For those in the United States, there is an excellent new user's guide. There is a wealth of information and resources for creating a great article. If you have questions about any of these WikiProjects, you can ask on each project's talk page, or you can ask me!

If you like communicating through IRC, feel free to ask questions at #wikipedia-en-roads as well. Here, there are several editors who are willing to answer your questions. For more information, see WP:HWY/IRC.

Again, welcome! Rschen7754 02:32, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also useful when reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Rschen7754 22:04, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Pennsylvania Route 760 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article. There's no source that backs up the existance of this state highway, or any state highway under this designation. To keep this article without a source would be perpetuate a rumor. This article does not meet WP:V, WP:RS, WP:NPOV and WP:NOR.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Imzadi1979 (talk) 20:35, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. The burden of evidence lies with you as the editor that added the information, in this case the whole article. I'm challenging it all. If deleted, the article can be recreated at a later date, if you have the sources to back it up. Imzadi1979 (talk) 20:41, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
P.P.S. You can't remove an AFD tag from an article because you disagree with it. The AFD tag can ONLY be removed at the conclusion of the 7-day AFD process. The AFD tag has been restored. If you disagree, you must comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pennsylvania Route 760. Imzadi1979 (talk) 23:50, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Join the WP:USRDCUP 2010!

[edit]

We're going to go ahead and try this again! The contest will begin April 1. It is a contest to encourage editors to improve teh quality of WP:USRD articles and participate in USRD. Precautions will be taken to make sure that people do not "game the system" and bring article quality down. Please sign up ASAP! Announcements regarding the contest will be made at WP:USRDCUP, Twitter, and/or IRC. --Rschen7754 06:51, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you changed a lot of the shield templates for DE and NJ state routes. A while back, we decided to use the Elongated circle set for DE and Circle sign set for NJ instead of the state-specific sets in order to have less shields to manage. If you have an issue with this, you can discuss it at WT:USRD. Dough4872 01:33, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

USRD stub drive

[edit]

I would like to take the opportunity to inform you of the Stub Removal Drive, a current project being undertaken by WikiProject U.S. Roads. We are attempting to reduce the number of stubs (short, underdeveloped articles like American Samoa Highway 005) within our project scope by 3000 before this December. Please help us with our goal by expanding such articles when possible, rather than creating new ones. (If you need to create a new article, you can help by expanding it beyond the stub level.) If you would like more information, it's available at WP:USRD#Goals. Thank you. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 04:37, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Station logos

[edit]

Hello, I did want to tell you thank you for your help in uploading current station logos to articles. However, I do need to advise two things;

  • Logos should be uploaded in the PNG format whenever possible, and even better, with transparency around the logo. This makes it easy to scale down images for thumbnail and infobox sizes. When you upload them in JPG, it cannot scale well in the infobox, and up-close details are compromised by the JPG scaling.
  • To meet WP:FAIRUSE, logos should be limited to 400 pixels in size.

An easy program to scale and covert to meet these issues is Irfanview or Paint.NET, which I utilize when I upload images. Hopefully this helps you out with uploading logos to Wikipedia. Thank you. Nate (chatter) 04:39, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:WMAR logo 2012.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:WMAR logo 2012.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:58, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Owned-and-operated station, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ABC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Interstate 470 in Ohio and West Virginia listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Interstate 470 in Ohio and West Virginia. Since you had some involvement with the Interstate 470 in Ohio and West Virginia redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:WZVN logo 2013.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:WZVN logo 2013.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
