Hi there, please refrain from arbitrarily removing perfectly normal parameters like |nationality= from article infoboxes. There's no clear justification for this practice, and the infobox is supposed to summarise key details about the subject, which would absolutely include the subject's nationality. Edits like this tend to look like agenda-based editing, which I'm sure is not your aim, but ultimately is not constructive. Please familiarise yourself with Template:Infobox person so that you understand the proper usage of these parameters. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:40, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and this would be considered edit-warring. When you are reverted by another user, your recourse is to open a discussion on the article's talk page to seek consensus for the changes you want made. The community finds edit-warring disruptive. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:44, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb: I have removed nationality para only those who were born and brought up in India neither have any other country citizenship. Like for PM of India Narendra Modi whose "nationality" + "citizenship" mentioned which is extremely foolish and bit chauvinistic too. You can check Boris Johnson, Donald Trump or Angela Merkel articles none of those articles have these parameters in the infobox. I'll be carefull about the edit earning and start discussion with that user if he is interested.--Isak.lund (talk) 06:48, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, just came from your edit request, and I understand your frustration, especially concerning the lack of consistency with other high-profile WP:BLP pages; but ultimately I think the average reader wouldn't see |nationality= or |citizenship= as suggesting an actual controversy aurrounding it, so better just leave it be. I guess you can feel free to take it to Template talk:Infobox person with your concerns. --Nemoschool (talk to me) 15:03, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Indian National Congress, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Equality (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Replacing post-card image in Periyar E. V. Ramasamy

[edit]

Can you explain the need to replace the post-card image in the article Periyar E. V. Ramasamy. Is there any Wikipedia policy to replace post-card images? SUN Eye 1 (talk) 06:09, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

When you have original image a person then avoid post card particularly in the infobox. You can definitely put post card image in the main body. In case you don't have original image then post card can be given. Check biography articles of most people always original images are given especially in infobox. Post card images generally provided in the legacy section of the biography articles. Also you can read WP:MOSBIO or WP:BLP for further clarification.--Isak.lund (talk) 06:39, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Isak.lund: I did not find anything on WP:MOSBIO and WP:BLP about replacing post-card images and if there is a wikipedia policy for that mention it here. I don't understand how you can just replace post-card images without any policy to support it. I've seen many articles of public figures with post-card images which have been there for years in the Infobox like K. Kamaraj. You can't just simply change it without any policy supporting it. SUN Eye 1 (talk) 06:50, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Suneye1: K. Kamaraj doesn't have original image thats why post card has been put in the infobox. If you don't have original image of that person then you can put. Most biographies have original image in the infobox.--Isak.lund (talk) 07:03, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Isak.lund: My Question is, Is there any wiki policy to back your claim to replace post-card images if there is an original image available for the person? Also the post-card image looks better on the Infobox.SUN Eye 1 (talk) 07:08, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: would you please give your view on this issue.--Isak.lund (talk) 07:17, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Couldn't find any policy on whether we should use postcard image or a "normal" one. I've seen both. Point is, the normal image [1] is missing copyright info and will be deleted on 28 January 2020. The postcard image on the other-hand [2] seems to be under Indian Govt. license, but it has not been verified. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:47, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: Thank you for your comment.
@Suneye1: alright you can keep post card if you wish to.--Isak.lund (talk) 08:09, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Isak.lund: And there is no need to avoid post-card image in the infobox. Have a nice day :-) SUN Eye 1 (talk) 08:14, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ENGVAR template date

[edit]

Hi. Kindly do not change the dates in EngVar templates without making relevant changes to the article like you did it here. Instead changes should be made like this. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:36, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't change the names of degrees

[edit]

I can't imagine why you decided to change Arvind Subramanian's Oxford DPhil[3] to a PhD, which would make anyone who knew about Oxford degrees suspect it was fake. Doug Weller talk 16:09, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Doug Weller: Thanks for correcting my error I had no idea that Oxford gives DPhil degrees instead of PhDs. Don't worry I'll correct where I made similar mistakes.--Isak.lund (talk) 05:03, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. That's the second time in a couple of weeks someone's changed degree abbreviations presumably because, like you, it wasn't something they knew about. Btw, did you know that the MA degree is not given on its own at Oxford, Cambridge and Dublin? Basically, a BA becomes an MA after a while.[4] Doug Weller talk 19:37, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I had no idea on this matter also. Thanks for providing me such valuable information. One question is Tripos of Cambridge a BA or MA degree.--Isak.lund (talk) 04:08, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
BA - we have an article on it. Tripos. But then all Cambridge undergraduate degrees are BAs.[5] And that page is weird, it uses both BA and B.A. on the same page. But remember, two or three years later that BA becomes an MA. So the tripos is definitely a BA, not an MA, it's the student who gets granted an MA after the appropriate time period. Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page Sweta Singh has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. The summaries are helpful to people browsing an article's history, so it is important that you use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. Feel free to use the sandbox to make test edits. and other pages. Adding a birthdate is not a copyedit - copyedits should not add any new information and editors patrolling articles can be misled when an edit summary suggests no content was changed. Doug Weller talk 16:12, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sure I'll try to give correct edit summary.--Isak.lund (talk) 05:30, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add full dates of birth for living people unless it is clear they are widely known

See WP:DOB. Sorry for all the messages, but there's a lot to learn about editing. Doug Weller talk 16:14, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A cup of coffee for you!

You tagged Upendranath Brahmachari as needing citations a few days ago. It is not always possible to respond to these notices quickly, but in this case, I wanted to say that I found a source in the metadata for the image and I put it in the article. Thanks for tagging the article. Blue Rasberry (talk) 07:46, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

It is generally good practice to leave edit summaries always, but especially in cases like this, where your edit could be safely ignored by most talk page watchers if they knew what it was doing. Vanamonde (Talk) 02:28, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alright I'll put edit summaries in such cases.--Isak.lund (talk) 06:41, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You need to stop with these drive-by tagging and categorization. I am not sure what has convinced you to believe that Hindu nationalism or anything related to that ideology makes you a fascist, but avoid presenting such claim as a fact unless there is unanimous consensus among scholars. D4iNa4 (talk) 18:23, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@D4iNa4: The article which has "hindutva" ideology believe does represent a form fascism which the main hindutva article has it-self states. moreover Wp:Discrimination must be mentioned because a certain form of discrimination these political parties or its ideology represents particularity against Muslims or lower caste Hindu like Dalits. Therefore its very important to add that project.Thanks--Isak.lund (talk) 18:31, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Isak.lund, I dont see any problem in tagging with relevant wikiprojects. Anyone can add articles to a project by attaching the project's banner to an article's talk page. And There are enough refs supporting this. the revert was clearly inappropriate. ⋙–DBigXray 20:13, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
DBigXray, Can WP:Crime project be added to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. Or it would be too far-fetched.--Isak.lund (talk) 05:10, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

I dont have any images of riots. Not sure why you are asking me add them. You can make a general request from others on the talk page, if needed. Also I beleive the article needs the images of Kapil Mishra and Amit Shah as they are discussed in the article prominently. --⋙–DBigXray 06:47, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DBigXray: Well I'm not so sure whether these persons image are at all helpful for the article, but riot images are certainly required. Ok I'll put request image tag in talk page.--Isak.lund (talk) 06:52, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
