Use of curly quotes

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions. I noticed that your edits on Mocha Uson that you are fond of using curly quotation marks (“ ”) as opposed to the straight ones (). I advice you to use the latter, as per MOS:CURLY. The reason, as it says at MOS:STRAIGHT: Typographical, or curly, quotation marks and apostrophes might be read more efficiently, and many think they look better. However, for practical reasons the straight versions are used on the English Wikipedia. Best. Bluesphere 15:38, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1. Added the folding of Davao Aguilas FC on "club career".
2. Changed the "who plays as" to "who most recently played as".
3. Added "He also plays for the Philippines national team".
4. Changed "Kaya Maya" in the infobox to "Kaya". I can't find reliable articles about Kaya changing their name to "Kaya Maya" in 2016 to 2017.

Non-free rationale for File:Ronald Cardema at a rally (January 26, 2021).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Ronald Cardema at a rally (January 26, 2021).jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sennecaster (What now?) 03:40, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I guess Pacquiao is a native Cebuano speaker. But you wrote his name as Tagalog prononciation. Do you have any references what you wrote? Thank you. --1.230.235.74 (talk) 05:29, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1.230.235.74. Since it's easier to find a citation than to argue over why it is not needed (WP:NOTBLUE), I added an AV media source in which Manny Pacquiao pronounces his surname while speaking Cebuano. Why IPA/Tagalog is used? There's no IPA/Cebuano in Wikipedia right now. H:IPA-TL also represents pronunciation "for Tagalog language and a number of related Philippine languages in Wikipedia articles."

@Jollibinay: I don't think the YouTube's clip (01:18-19) you wrote is a good source, because it doesn't include any IPA information about [pɐkˈjaʊ]. And I'm not sure, but I also don't think it is [pɐkjaʊ]. So please show me reliable information about the IPA you wrote. 27.35.47.193 (talk) 07:01, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
