Why the undoing of Sabah's Independence facts and references?[edit]

You've undone many of references that are more academic and offical than the earlier weblink reference. This is against the official policy of wikipedia. Offical and legal documents overide websites. You can refer to my blog for a look at the legal document, sabahcolonised.blogspot.com

For the text book, I'm not offering it at any website but only refer to it. The text book indicate clearly that SAbah is only independent on the 16th of September. which means that the academic version is the 16th of Sep, 1963. However there is another versioin which states that Sabah achieved independence on the 31st of August, which is supported by websites, news editorials, and self-published books. This must be recorded as such, but with mention that these are still against official academic versioin.

Also, and the history is far less useful without such. Joseph, my sincere apologies if I wasn't clear... I was referring to the several edits you made before that difference link, where you didn't leave any edit summary. We all make typos, and summaries are important for the reasons I touched on above. But to be blunt, someone that doesn't leave them is, imho furthermore, an obnoxious ass and totally discourteous of their impact on other peoples time.

I don't think you want to be thought of in that manner—if you were THAT kind of idiot, you wouldn't have answered my note at all. So — leave the rest of us a clue so history pages like THIS tell a story as to "what happened" when, by whom, and WHY! (Like a news reporter, WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY) My "complaint", if you choose to call it that, was you left out the WHAT and/or WHY... the computer takes care of the other three. Sorry, we are still not communicating clearly. Lets try again!
I have great faith you are both a diligent and careful editor.
I never implied that you were a vandal,... but instead said there are many people watching for vandalism,... and that one way that some of them do that is to look at a page's history of "edit summaries".
Further, the page "Special recent changes" is watched by many patrolling against vandalism (like an hawk looking for mice...) — meaning that lack of edit summaries was an unnecessary additional (extra) burden (load) on their time ... and is therefore, a kind of avoidable discourtesy.
In my personal opinion
...imposing such extra work on people is rude and impolite if it can be avoided.
Further, edit summaries are so important to some of us, that there has even been some software written to try to do them when they are missing. See WP:AES , which is usually doing what YOU SHOULD BE DOING (And doing better!—What and Why!!!) for you here.
1. Reminded now of this, you should not have so many Minor edits...
2. The point to all of this is such notations and edit summaries are important tools that cause good or bad effects to other people.

In other words.... Do you know that in User Preferences under the Editing" there is this list of "Click options"?

Look for the row or column
of "click links" on your page that say:

Hi. I just noticed that about a month ago you reverted my replacement of the existing clickable map of the Australian States with an image map. The new image map used the new functionality built in to MediaWiki which obviates the method used to create the clickable map you put back in. I was just wondering why you'd done this; were you unhappy with the map image used? Or the fact that the oceans and seas were not clickable? Or something else? Incorrect use of Minor edit flag[edit]

Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' About date formatting[edit]

Please don't change the format of dates. Most British people and many people internationally write dates in day-month-year order, e.g., 12 December 1904. Most Americans use month-day-year order, e.g., December 12, 1904. If the article is about an American topic, use month-day-year. If it is a British topic, use day-month-year. If neither, leave it as originally written. Many Americans or British people take offence if an article about their country, written in their local version of English, is changed around to a version they don't use. So please do not do that.

Dates are usually enclosed in two square brackets, as in [[12 December]] or [[December 12]]. This means that you can set your preferences (if you look around your screen you'll see the word preferences; click on it and follow the instructions) to ensure that you see all dates in the format you want, whether date-month-year, month-date-year or yyyy-mm-dd. The general rules on how Wikipedia articles are written can be seen in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Rules specific to dates and numbers can be seen in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers).

Apologies - should have specified the article in question: Gilles Grondin, a Canadian subject. Since Canada has no consensus on date formatting, dates on the Canadian-related articles should not be changed. American and British influences are in effect there; Quebec in particular (where Gilles Grondin is from) uses day-month-year order as standard due to French/European influence. As you rightly indicated, Australian, British, or Indian articles are best with day-month-year (International) format; articles associated with those nations are not a concern in this case. Date changing[edit]

You recently changed a date in an article from 26 June to June 26; the arrangement of a date doesn't actually matter, because as long as it is wikilinked, you can set your preferences to have Wikipedia display them anyway you want them to. This setting is controlled from the "Date and Time" tab. Canada actually (officially) uses the dd/mm/yyyy system, and 24 hour time. Due to Americanism, most Canadians use the other systems, but officially, all dates and times should use the British system. Due to these ambiguities, both should be acceptable for Canadian articles. This is true for spellings of certain words -- colour and color, privatize and privatise, etc. I am Canadian and I have always used dd/mm/yyyy, as have almost every form I have ever filled out that has required a date. vıdıoman (talk • contribs) 07:20, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
