How far back?

[edit]

How far back does the tropical storm data go? Is it possible to knock up a track for a 1912 storm? John of Cromer in China Philippines (talk) mytime= Sun 19:22, wikitime= 11:22, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2013 Atlantic hurricane season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mph (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

New idea for your HURDAT converter

[edit]

I've been using your converter for my tracks and I was wondering the possibility of using the converter to process IBTrACS csv. file into HURDAT. The advantages of using the csv. file is it contains a merged track data from all tracking agency. If it could extract those coordinates and prioritize the agencies in wind value and pressure if there are more than one agency value for each position. The order of priority could be similar to this: NHC, JTWC, JMA, CMA, HKO, Neumann, BoM, Reunion, Fiji, NZeal/Wellington, New Delhi, etc. The structure of the csv file can be found here. It's rather complex coding so I'm not sure of how possible it is to covert to HURDAT. Supportstorm (talk) 17:01, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up since you don't work on hurricane advisories that much. TAWX13 and I recently reached an agreement regarding excessive linking in the Current Storm Information section. Since everything is linked in the infobox, it really isn't necessary in that section. The only links that should be kept are the nautical miles and the town to avoid it being link deprived. I also noticed that you removed a dash from "tropical storm-force", making it grammatically incorrect. I would appreciate your cooperation in the matter. Thanks, United States Man (talk) 20:25, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just a follow up, I have readjusted some of the units and links for consistency. I have gotten everything (link-wise and abbr.-wise) to where it should be. I don't want to sound pushy, but we need to keep things consistent and in order. Thanks, United States Man (talk) 01:21, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't care if you were to take some of those links off. I would keep the pressure links and the "knots" link, as they are the least common. I will leave that up to you though. United States Man (talk) 21:22, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
May I ask what kind of number has four digits but no comma? Also, please use a calculator when you round the kilometers on the gusts. 90 times 1.6 is 144, so that rounds to 145, not 150. United States Man (talk) 14:43, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mean to run you off, but compromise sometimes. Those simple changes don't hurt anything and are not even worth arguing about. United States Man (talk) 01:37, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is fine with me. United States Man (talk) 15:00, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Breure & Romero (2012)

[edit]

Hello,
I changed the taxonavigation template to take "classification=Breure & Romero (2012)" into account.
Check commons:Category:Plekocheilus to see the result.
Sadly it now display Breure & Romero (2012).
Would you have a nicer url for that classification ?
You can see the other classifications as example in commons:Template:Taxonavigation/classification documentation.
Could you andwer me on my commons page ?

Lusi

[edit]

Thanks for extending Lusi's track map, to show its path to New Zealand. :) Could you please gather Brisbanes TWO's together from February 28th till present and stick them under Hadi when they mention a weak low/Hadi. Kind Regards.Jason Rees (talk) 16:51, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I just want to refresh my memory of them before emailing a lady who works in the Brisbane regional office to clarify if 16F/20F/Hadi are the same. They are also likely to be usefull when it comes to the write up of the season, since they help proove that Hadi was 20F.Jason Rees (talk) 13:20, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, ive had it confirmed by Brisbane that Hadi is operationally being treated as 16F, however it maybe treated as another system during post anaylsis. BTW dont forget to update Gills records since Darwin didnt give it up till later on the 18th, when they passed warning responsibility to Jakarta.Jason Rees (talk) 11:07, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2013 Pacific typhoon season and other tracks

[edit]

Hello, Keith Edkins. I have seen all of your edits of tropical cyclone tracks since last year and it is an outstanding and hard work. Could you please publish (the final time) the track map of the 2013 Pacific typhoon season like the extratropical tracks of some storms, and a tropical depression track of the 2014 season? It would be great, Thanks. Typhoon2013 (talk) 10:05, 29 March 2014 UTC

2013 North Indian Ocean TC seasonal summary track

Can you please update the seasonal summary track with Severe Cyclonic Storm Madi's track? Thanks. LightandDark2000 (talk) 08:24, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FYI

[edit]

So we can avoid yet another game of Tropical Cyclone Mao I think it is wise to inform you that PAGASA and the IMD have new websites and that you may need to update your archive as a result. I have also heard that JTWC are redesigning theirs.Jason Rees (talk) 15:29, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2014 Pacific hurricane season updates

[edit]

You told me that you use spreadsheets to post the updates. Well, I noticed that the "i" in "inHg" was capitalized the way you were entering, as "InHg". This may have been a simple mistake, but just so you can fix it, I thought I would bring it up here. The "H" in "Hg" is capitalized because it is an elemental symbol, but the "i" in "in" doesn't need to be. I just thought I would notify you; thanks! Dustin (talk) 04:42, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
