Question from Alexiabens (07:02, 8 October 2024)

[edit]

Hi ! I dont find the page i wrote about the french twins --Alexiabens (talk) 07:02, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexiabens I'm going to need more than this to go on if I'm going to help you. ~Kvng (talk) 13:47, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote an article about Les French Twins, magicians, and about Markobi the magician too. But I can't find the articles anymore.
Alexia Alexiabens (talk) 19:18, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alexiabens, It looks like you found it: Draft:The French Twins ~Kvng (talk) 21:04, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thanks. How to publish it ? I think i finished the job ;) and i did it well Alexiabens (talk) 21:20, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alexiabens, It was declined once then you added another no-so-reliable source and queued it up for review again. I predict it will be declined again shortly. You need to find some better sources. If none can be found, this may not be notable enough to be a suitable topic for Wikipedia. ~Kvng (talk) 21:32, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you help me ? The sources I put are reliable, I am sure about it. Alexiabens (talk) 21:36, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alexiabens, The most recent one you added ([1]) appears to be some sort of inclusive directory or user-generated content. Do you claim this is WP:RELIABLE? Why? ~Kvng (talk) 21:42, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a very famous website called "l'officiel des spectacles" , "The official of entertainment".
It's a very famous website about shows in whole France. All the informations from this website are not generated by me AT ALL. Alexiabens (talk) 22:07, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've reviewed the sources and posted a report at Draft_talk:The_French_Twins#Sources. The reviewer was right to decline the draft and would be right to decline it again despite your recent addition. You have one potentially good source. We need to see two or three of this caliber to establish notability for the subject. ~Kvng (talk) 14:13, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Trevor Lea (14:38, 13 October 2024)

[edit]

Hello,

I want to add a paragraph to the Wiki entry about Ibotenic Acid. I spent 3 years working with the compound during my Ph.D research (back in the last century!). The present Wiki entry makes no reference to the important effects of Ibotenic Acid in invertebrate muscle and nerve, e.g. insects, crustacea, etc. and the discovery of glutamate-gated chloride ion channels, which are absent in vertebrates. I'll be adding some references.

What's the best way to start? --Trevor Lea (talk) 14:38, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Xbeazyy (14:42, 16 October 2024)

[edit]

How do I make an article? --Xbeazyy (talk) 14:42, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher)@Xbeazyy: You are looking for how to write your first article. - UtherSRG (talk) 19:49, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from AnkushMaitra (20:33, 24 October 2024)

[edit]

I want to add some information but how --AnkushMaitra (talk) 20:33, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@AnkushMaitra what do you want to add and where do you want to add it? ~Kvng (talk) 20:39, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
my media information in wikipedia wall AnkushMaitra (talk) 20:45, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@AnkushMaitra this still isn't making sense to me. I see from your user page that you're interested in Biswa Bangla Tv. I don't know what you mean by wikipedia wall. ~Kvng (talk) 22:36, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Bolutemi (18:30, 26 October 2024)

[edit]

Hi Kvng! first time editor here, its nice to connect with you. I'm writing an article at the moment and I don't want to publish it just yet because I'm not entirely done. Is there a way i can save it as a draft and come back to continue editing or what would you recommend I do? --Bolutemi (talk) 18:30, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bolutemi, Welcome!. You can use the Article Wizard to create a new draft that will remain active for at least 6 months. You submit it for publication when you're ready. ~Kvng (talk) 18:46, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't start this article with Article Wizard. There's nothing i can do to save this draft I currently have opened until later? Bolutemi (talk) 18:55, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) If you save it as a new page, where the title begins with “Draft:“ it’ll get saved as a draft; eg. “Draft:My First Article” Danners430 (talk) 19:00, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How do i save it? I have written a lot right now. i opened Wikipedia on another tab just to see if i can see the draft I'm working on. I can see the draft name but it's an empty page Bolutemi (talk) 19:04, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bolutemi can you tell us the URL address of the browser page where you've written your article. This should hep us understand what you've done and what to do from here. It alos would be a good idea to do a select all and copy what you've written to a notepad application so you have a backup if needed. ~Kvng (talk) 19:17, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

October 27, 2024

[edit]

Hello, this is Winter. I have noticed that you have reverted my edit on JBL. By reverting my edit, you are violating MOS:OL on linking countries, and you are also using the owner field incorrectly. The owner field is not meant to be used to show higher level ownership. The owner is not the owner of the parent company to the subsidiary. Please refrain from further making edits like these. WiinterU 17:22, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The documentation for |owner=, by my reading, doesn't seem to disallow this use. Do you have a suggestion for another way to indicate that Samsung is the ultimate owner of JBL? ~Kvng (talk) 00:50, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The company infobox documentation is more of a suggestion of what a person should do. Anyone should just use common knowledge to know that the owner is not the parent company's parent. You can't use the parent tab either, because it absolutely disallows usage. There is no field to show higher level ownership because it is not necessary. WiinterU 12:54, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you think it not necessary to include Samsung somewhere in the infobox? We've had some POV issues with Harman articles and I'm trying to hold things where there seemed to be consensus. ~Kvng (talk) 14:20, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Samsung is not the direct owner or parent company of JBL. It only has ownership through Harman, not direct. Both fields are meant to show direct ownership. And specifically with the ownership field, it's intended purpose is to show ownership under 51%, multiple owners, or individuals. It is not meant for higher level ownership. WiinterU 22:17, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't answer my question: Why do you think it not necessary to include Samsung somewhere in the infobox? You have also not addressed the POV concern. ~Kvng (talk) 23:08, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have addressed both. I'm saying that it has no place in the infobox and should be used in the lead. WiinterU 20:36, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

living=no

[edit]

Please review [2] which are mainly your changes adding |living=no to pages which are already set with |blp=yes. Would be nice if you can fix these, regards — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:27, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MSGJ, this appears to be a tool problem, see User_talk:Evad37/rater.js#Stop_killing_people. I will monitor this and fix the articles you've listed once the dust settles. ~Kvng (talk) 14:09, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid I don't have time to go through every article you have listed, so I am planning to roll back your changes that caused a problem — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:38, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ, I don't think that is productive. I had been moving articles from stub to higher ratings. If we just revert the ratings on the talk page, that will be out of sync with presence or absence of associated {{stub}} templates so you're not making things better by doing this and you're arguably making them worse. I'm committed to making this right but I don't see the harm in waiting a bit to see what the proposed tool fix will be. ~Kvng (talk) 23:06, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like you waited 8 minutes after posting this before reverting my edits. ~Kvng (talk) 23:26, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I waited 18 hours after informing you of the problem. After your latest reply, I gathered you were not going to fix these yourself. I understand there is an error with the tool, but unfortunately you are still responsible for the edits that you make using it ... — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:51, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand how you interpret I will monitor this and fix the articles you've listed once the dust settles as I'm not going to fix the problem. What's the urgency here? Are readers going to get the impression that these people are dead? ~Kvng (talk) 13:21, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I interpreted it as you are not going to fix them anytime soon. When the dust settles could be days, weeks or months away — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:43, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The last Rater problem was fixed within a week. What's the urgency? ~Kvng (talk) 15:42, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
