List of auto parts
Thank you for you effort to improve Wikipedia. However, please stop adding List of auto parts to so many articles. This is better served by the category 'Automotive body parts' - which is already linked at the bottom of most of the articles you changed. Stepho talk 23:47, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Stepho-wrs:, I agree that category 'automotive body parts' adequately serves the desired purpose for those who can see it at the bottom of the articles, but please bear in mind that categories and template navboxes don't appear on mobile view, so a link to the list is necessary to offer mobile readers access to the available array of related topics. Thanks for collegially expressing the concern. Left guide (talk) 00:51, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Please use edit summaries.
Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Muhammad did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button.
An edit summary is especially necessary for contentious articles. I have reverted all of your changes to the article for now because they were unexplained and some appeared to be controversial. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:18, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Ok thanks for informing me, will keep that in mind for the Muhammad article. Best, Left guide (talk) 04:47, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Excessive use of primary sources section template
Thank you for tagging the Alaska Airlines page for excessive use of primary sources. However, placing the primary sources template on the top of the page, then again in 11 sections seems excessive. In the future, may I suggest you use only the primary sources template on the top of the page on pages like this where it's a page wide issue, and the section template when it's only an issue on a few sections. Thank you. -- RickyCourtney (talk) 18:53, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

AFD for World Heavyweight Championship (Los Angeles)
Hi Left guide. Regarding the AFD discussion for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Heavyweight Championship (Los Angeles), I believe this article was originally about the World Heavyweight Title promoted by Pacific Northwest Wrestling. At some point, this information was replaced with the history for World Heavyweight Championship (Los Angeles version) and the page was moved to its current title. The PNW belt was recognized as the world title in California during the mid-to-late 1940s but was separate from the one promoted by the Los Angeles wrestling territory. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 18:42, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for stopping by, unfortunately I'm not too intimately familiar with the subject matter, so I'm unable to fully comprehend all of the information you're providing. You may want to add this type of message to the AfD discussion for others to more readily dissect, I hope this is helpful. All the best, Left guide (talk) 22:59, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
Ok, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to comment there. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 19:39, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, you're allowed to comment on any AfDs you want, unless it's protected, which is rare. Left guide (talk) 21:52, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
Primary sources
Special:Diff/1200195993/1200197038 - per WP:PRIMARY we can link to some primary sources in articles. Rule #1 says "Primary sources that have been reputably published may be used in Wikipedia". The University of California is "reputably published". The source is being used to make a straightforward statement of fact, not an analysis. Only if there is an "analytic, evaluative, interpretive, or synthetic claim" is a secondary required. Many articles including featured articles contain links to sources written by the subject of the bio. -- GreenC 01:40, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

User talk page messages
Hello, Left guide,
Could you please not immediately remove messages from your User talk pages? You should leave them up for at least a week or two so that discussions can proceed. It's also important to see what kind of messages you are getting. I came here to tell you one thing and I can't tell if other editors have been here to say the same thing. It's just the sign of a veteran editor not to keep blanking your User talk page after every message and to archive messages instead of deleting them. You've put in a lot of time here over the past few months and I'm sure you want to be seen as an experienced editor and not a newbie. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 08:13, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ok thanks for letting me know, I'll set up an archive for the old messages at some point. Left guide (talk) 08:17, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
February 2024
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 08:13, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Left guide,
- Your page moves were very controversial. It would have been better to start a talk page discussion rather than going with your own instinct as they all had to be reverted. It's best to start with one page move rather than going on a moving rampage. Liz Read! Talk! 08:15, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks, will keep that in mind for future mass moves, especially if they might be controversial. Left guide (talk) 08:21, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Removing FamilySearch
When you remove it, it's important to also check the other source that's alongside and remove FamilySearch sourced contents. If you just strip the citation, it will cause it to look like it is properly sourced to the source that is preserved while retaining FS based contents. Go back through, remove anything that's not verifiable with the source that's still there. If the other source is not accessible, you could flag the article as having unreliable sources. Graywalls (talk) 20:23, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- Alright thanks Graywalls, that's very helpful advice, I'll remember to do that for future FamilySearch removals, and also review my past FamilySearch removals. Left guide (talk) 22:46, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Saur Rev. Edit
I know that AuthorHouse is a self publishing thingy and might be unreliable in most cases, however the book I used was written by an Afghan general who was present during these events and it is a very old book, which was translated into English only very recently by his son. Can the edit be reverted or no? Also, as the book was written in Dari, it is very likely the original publisher was not Authorhouse. Possibly an Iranian or Afghan publisher. His son simply translated every word in English and published the translation so everyone could read it. Thank you in advance. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 07:20, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello AfghanParatrooper19891, thanks for inquiring. I mainly removed the source on procedural grounds to comply with Wikipedia's WP:RS policy. I'm not too personally familiar with the subject matter, but you appear to make an assertion that the author's experience qualifies him as expert on the topic, which if true might merit an exemption per WP:EXPERTSPS. I plan to raise the matter at the reliable sources noticeboard momentarily for wider community input; you are also welcome to participate there as you wish. Left guide (talk) 07:48, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response! I will try to find out where General Nabi Azimi published the book before it was translated into English by son. For more context, Nabi Azimi was present during the Saur Revolution and was reportedly being targeted by the Air Force led by Abdul Qadir. In the translator’s note, Ilyas Azimi (son of General Nabi Azimi)states: “Having read the original Persian version of Army and Politics, I believed that it carried a strong message for anyone who wanted to know the truth behind some of the most life-changing events of those years. Hence, I decided that being an Afghan myself, I should try and translate this magnificent book of recent Afghan history into the most powerful language in the world whereby those who would like to know what had actually happened in Afghanistan during that time that led to the displacement of millions of Afghans, would have a great chance to find out. One of my objectives has been to help the second and third generation Afghans who were born abroad and are not Persian literate, and those who had to flee their beloved homeland only to seek asylum somewhere else. It took me five years of thorough hard work to translate Army and Politics from Persian into English. I am proud of being able to come this far and I really hope that my undivided efforts in conveying the message of Army and Politics will remain helpful.” This proves there is a Dari version out there, which was the original. I also managed to find out the English version only recently came out in 2019. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 07:56, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome, who was the original publisher? If you're able to identify that information and it's a better publisher, that would go a long way in helping establish reliability. It would probably be better to cite that original book instead. If you're searching for the original book and publisher right now, I'll hold off on raising the matter at the noticeboard, unless you specifically want to. Also, that's good how you have Persian-to-English translation skills; that's a major asset to building the encyclopedia for topics with better coverage in Persian; sources need not be in English per WP:NONENG. Left guide (talk) 08:09, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- I just found the original version by searching up the title in Dari where it’s known as “اردو و سیاست، در سه دهه اخیر افغانستان - جلد 1 و 2“ – aka Urdu Aw Siyasat (Army and Politics). I also found the original publisher, which is not AuthorHouse, but rather “Seba Dehki Nalbandi Library of Peshawar Baazar” – https://ketabnak.com/book/110993/اردو-و-سیاست-در-سه-دهه-اخیر-افغانستان-جلد-1-و-2%7C Peshawar is a city in Pakistan, so this library is probably in Pakistan and the first pages of the book states they’re the publisher. Additionally, I do have knowledge that we use the Solar Hijri calendar in Afghanistan and the year the book was published was “1375” which is 1996 in the Gregorian calendar.
- Sadly, I do not speak Persian and can only read a few words, my main language is Pashto. I only know that there is a Dari version, since Azimi’s son stated so in the English version. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 09:21, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Oh sorry, I just now realized that more than half of your previous message was a quote, and I thought it was you talking, my mistake. Do you have evidence that that publisher is reliable in accordance with WP:RS criteria? If so, I wouldn't be opposed to you restoring the material in question cited to that original book. Left guide (talk) 09:34, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- I tried to search up the name of the library, only to find books that have been published by the publisher rather than information about the actual publisher. I transliterated the name if the publisher "سبا کتابخانه دهکی نعلبندی قصه خوانی بازار پشاور" from Dari to Latin script, and it translates to "Saba Bookstore, Dehki Naalbandi Storytelling Market, Peshawar" in English. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 09:48, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, maybe you can ask at the reliable sources noticeboard; some of the regulars there are very good at searching for publisher info. The original inquiry I had in mind is no longer applicable since it was based on the premise that the only source was the AuthorHouse book, so I'm not sure what/how to ask. - I’ll make sure to ask! Thank you. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 16:43, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi
I'm curious about your reading of wp:lede, and how you square deleting one of two sentences in a lede with it. It seems odd to me, and not in keeping with logic, the rule, or other stuff. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:D069:BDD8:6C1F:C57F (talk) 03:45, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I assume you're referring to the content disagreement at Brooklyn Law School. To be clear, I'm not inviting further exchange here at user talk since the disagreement involves at least one other editor. As stated before, my personal view is that the inclusion of randomly-selected alumni names without a source is inappropriate and undue for the lead section. The bottom line is you need to gain consensus for the inclusion of the challenged material per WP:ONUS, which says
The responsibility for achieving consensus for inclusion is on those seeking to include disputed content.
If discussion at the article talk page is stagnant and you wish to continue pursuing this, I invite you to launch a request for comment (RfC) for broader community input; instructions are available at WP:RFC. Alternatively, you may want to consult with other regular editors of higher education articles at the pertinent WikiProject talk page (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Higher education) and seek consensus that way. Hey left guide, how are you? I am writing because I just have a quick question. Out of curiosity how come you labeled novacaps.com as an unreliable source when I tried to add that ovi passed mario lemieux for most power play goals with one franchise? Just curious so I can get a better understanding about its reliability or unreliability and be better in the future Gymrat16 (talk) 16:54, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Gymrat16: novacapsfans.com is a Capitals fan blog. It doesn't have any sort of editorial staff, policy, or oversight shown, which are hallmarks of reliable sources. At the bottom right of the webpage it also says
Powered by WordPress.com
which typically means it's a blog. Left guide (talk) 18:10, 3 April 2024 (UTC)- ok thank you for letting me know. I will make sure I do better in the future. I can start by maybe looking up that topic and hopefully a better source comes eventually but either way I can and will do better Gymrat16 (talk) 18:51, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- Is thehockeywriters.com a good source in your opinion? I ask because the other day Steven stamkos recorded his 211th power play goal to pass pic robatille for third most with one franchise. And before you know it he will pass lemiuex for second most with just one team so want to get thoughts on that before I consider adding that to his article. I know that website has been used a lot by editors in the past but I want to make sure it’s good Gymrat16 (talk) 23:23, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Gymrat16: I'm not sure about that one, so I raised the matter at WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#thehockeywriters.com to solicit wider community input. You're free to participate there if you wish. Left guide (talk) 03:11, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- alright thanks very much I will consider it and I can't wait to hear back either way. I know many people have used it before but I just want to make sure before I use it myself Gymrat16 (talk) 13:19, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hey Left guide. I saw that you put on stamkos article that rawcharge.com isn't a reliable site and just a fan blog. I honestly didn't realize that since they can be tricky to compare and contrast so my apologies. Anyway, I was gonna ask if you can re-look at the citations I added to the sentence comparing him to ovi and tell me what you think?. I basically just added back the sentence but cited it with a couple different sites. Thanks homie Gymrat16 (talk) 20:45, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Gymrat16: Sportsnet seems to be reliable for most hockey-related things, but context matters, and the source you cited looks like a press conference with Stamkos' (former?) coach, so his opinions on Stamkos' skills, strengths, and weaknesses are probably not considered an independent reference, let alone in wikivoice without attribution. The Hockey Writers source you added, I'm not too sure about; the site itself might not be reputable enough on its own to confer reliability, especially for more subjective claims. I tried to search for journalistic credentials on Justin Godfrey, and came up mostly empty. There's a lot of grey areas in sports journalism, and reliability is often on a spectrum. On a side note, please bear in mind when making inquiries on user talk pages that this is a volunteer project, and most of us are busy with other things on Wikipedia and real life, and have limited time on these sorts of things. I'm mostly just going through and cleaning out the black-and-white unreliable sources, especially those used for extraordinary claims. Don't be discouraged though, most of your edits are probably very good since NHL/Ice hockey seems to be a busy WikiProject with a lot of experienced editors watching these articles, and I haven't seen many content/merit-related objections against your edits. You can always assume your edits are good unless or until you hear otherwise. If I may lend one last piece of advice from seeing your edits, I think it would be good to rely more on sources from journalists, and less on interviews with players and coaches. My time and energy for this matter is running short now, so if I have more thoughts, I'll add to it later, and I might jump in to the Stamkos article again at some point if I have a chance. Keep up the good work. Left guide (talk) 00:02, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- alright man thank you i know we're all busy with things in our lives and i dont disagree one bit but I only added some things from players to sort of back up that claim so it sound believeable. Tocchet the current head coach for the canucks by the way was the head coach of the bolts during his first two years in the league (2008-2009 and 2009-2010) so thats where that video came from when he was asked about it. I look through other articles like Ovechkin, Crosby, Iginla, McDavid, etc to get these ideas and I tried to emulate them to the best way I could so the sentences sound believable otherwise I feel like if there isn't at least a little bit then no one will want to believe the claims they're seeing you know? its kinda like saying something than having points to back them up so yeah thats all hopefully that makes sense too cause you've been real understanding and I honestly feel flattered that you have recognized by effort and knowledge on these things and of course I want to continue to be the best I can be while also making sure I stay disciplined too. On editing Heiward Mak page
How should I update profile pic, thanks WindThatShakestheBarley (talk) 15:40, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- @WindThatShakestheBarley: Hello, I personally don't really care about the photo one way or the other as it's a rather small matter for an encyclopedia (but I'll add back your version of it as a courtesy). The bigger issue is that you are continuing to add material cited to several unreliable sources; please refer to the links I provided in this edit summary. And if you are the user behind these two IP addresses, then you absolutely should not be touching the article directly (please make edit requests on Talk:Heiward Mak) since you have a conflict of interest, and you've essentially been edit-warring by this point since at least one other editor has objected to your changes, and you've been reverted a total of four times. If you have further questions or concerns, please consult the Teahouse at WP:Teahouse. Thank you. Left guide (talk) 00:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hello and thank you for adding back the photo.
- And your guidance on how to make valuable edit. I will make edit request on Talk:Heiward Mak and use reliable sources!
- I am not the user behind these two IP addresses, just to let you know

California/Berkeley
Hi there. I'd agree with EGG for "at California", but less so with "against California", where I think readers understand its a college team, not entire state. I don't think there's a convention to change other flagship universities e.g. North Carolina for University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I'll leave Kareem's to your judgement. —Bagumba (talk) 09:20, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: hey again, thanks for dropping the note here, and for extending the courtesy to allow me flexibility on editing. It's all good though, your edit of adding "UC Berkeley" in parentheses is a perfect compromise and makes total sense to me, no complaints at all. Best, Left guide (talk) 09:26, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- I'd still drop it for consistency, but I guess the counter-argument is that Cal doesn't have that rich a sports history where people generally know which school is "California". —Bagumba (talk) 09:34, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

Request for clarification or edit
I saw you made this edit. What education was it? It is not clear here. So I humbly suggest you to use a m-dash or a colon (less recommended) to clarify it. Or explain there what is meant by education there because by the term "education", one means writing and reading or other formal education.Neutralhappy (talk) 15:56, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Clarification : an m-dash or colon after the term "education". That is what I meant. Other option is to replace the term "education" with skills or the like. Neutralhappy (talk) 16:11, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Neutralhappy: thanks for inquiring. Unfortunately, the cited source (page 18 in Chapter One: Mecca) doesn't elaborate beyond that; on that topic, it only says
Are there other sources that might provide the detail you are looking for? One option in the meantime might be to add the {{clarify}} tag. Left guide (talk) 18:00, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Abu Talib was very fond of his nephew, and his brothers also helped with Muhammad's education. Hamzah, the youngest, a man of prodigious strength, instructed Muhammad in the martial arts, making him a skilled archer and competent swordsman.
- Could you edit it as "assisted with" instead of "assisted in"?
- You can also consider replacing the term "education" with "learning" if you are interested. Neutralhappy (talk) 19:04, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Neutralhappy: Done additionally, after further reflection, using the word "also" seems misleading since the source doesn't indicate Hamza's training as separate from Muhammad's education but rather as a part of it, and ironically, removing that word in accordance with the source should also resolve your (and my) original concern about lack of detail and clarification. In the future, please feel free to be bold in making these changes yourself since you're extended-confirmed; it saves time for everyone. The third pillar of Wikipedia says

Page Talk question
What do I do if I leave a comment on a page's talk page and not get a response? I'm asking as eariler this week, I left a comment at Talk:Paul George, asking if we should change the nickname on Paul Geroge's page to PG-8 since he is now wearing 8 on the 76ers since his former number, 13, is retired by the 76ers but haven't gotten a comment on that. ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 20:53, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- @ReallyAmazingDude13: Most talk pages of individual NBA player articles aren't heavily-trafficked, so if you receive no response after a short while, you might want to consider posting to the NBA project talk page at WT:NBA, which is a more centralized and active discussion board. As for the proposed change itself, it's essential to provide reliable sources that directly mention this supposed new nickname, otherwise it might be considered original research, which is prohibited by Wikipedia's WP:OR policy. Left guide (talk) 21:02, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- There is no news source that mentions the new nickname but it has been used by the Philadelphia 76ers Twitter/X account on the tweet "PG8 checking in" that has a video attached of Paul George saying what's up to Philly Fans and how he is excited to be there with 76ers, which at the start of the video, he says that its now PG-8 and not PG-13 as the Number 13 is retired by the 76ers ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 21:35, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- @ReallyAmazingDude13: I found these two news sources that make note of the PG8 nickname. They should be suitable for what you are attempting to do. Good luck. Left guide (talk) 21:45, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
