• Already in the Talmud the «Greek wisdom» was considered dangerous and was during some periods altogether prohibited (see Shlomo ben Aderet).
  • What is «Greek wisdom»?
  • I found nothing releveant at Shlomo ben Aderet
  • There are several other « » around what are presumably book titles. Should these not be '' '' ?

Re: Ma'ale Adumim

Hi Lkitrossky! I have removed the images for the following reasons:

1. Most important: It is not clear what the images showed. The caption was not clear.
2. Assuming the images showed parts of an important building in the city, it is unclear what this building is and why it is important.
3. They were two images of the same thing.
4. There was an indication that the user who inserted the images had a conflict of interest and knew Michael Yahilevich personally. In addition, we don't link to other Wikipedias except in the interwiki at the bottom.

You did answer, but you may reconsider it. It is an original design of synagogue Machanaim in Ma'ale Adumim. I meant to leave only one picture, like in Russian version. I know Yachilevich, but nevertheless consider the design worth mentioning. Michael is a known artist, as I explained in a Russian article on him ru:Яхилевич, Михаил Фритиофович, and it is a honour to have a design by him, we only got it because he was a congregant. --lkitross (talk) 23:34, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the answer, and I apologize for my own late one (please leave a not on my talk page as I don't tend to watch other people's talk pages). I may indeed reconsider, but first of all at least the first major concern above needs to be addressed. I am still not quite sure what exactly the picture shows—what part of the synagogue is this? What synagogue is this? Where is it located?

That caption doesn't make any sense. What is the name of the synagogue? I believe you are assuming that every reader of the article is familiar both with the synagogue and Michael Yahilevich. It comes from Blesa, a little town in Teruel province, the "retablo de la Santa Cruz de Blesa" (it means "Retable of the Saint Cross of Blesa"). In the webpage of Zaragoza Museum there's also a reference (http://portal.aragon.es/portal/page/portal/Museo_de_Zaragoza/noticias/nuevas_secciones_antiguedad_gotico_renacimiento) It's funny, cause now I remember that when I was a child we went with the school to Saragossa's Museum, and they explained us the story of a retable, I think that was exactly this retable! :-) --Willtron (?) 14:55, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Yes, there was an important Jewish community in Saragossa, like in the rest of Aragon (Tarazona is mainly known for its Jewish quarter), but nowadays most of all this Jewish heritage has been lost, and I think that's a pity, because it's also an important part of our history. In the "Gran Enciclopedia Aragonesa" there's a monographic about "Jews in Aragon" (http://www.enciclopedia-aragonesa.com/monograficos/historia/judios_en_aragon/default.asp)... there you can see an interactive map of Jewish Saragossa (http://www.enciclopedia-aragonesa.com/monograficos/historia/judios_en_aragon/multimedia/mapas/zaragoza.htm), and like you say was divided in two quarters: old and new judería (I will make also a version of this map of Saraqusta to show this in order to use it in articles about Saragossa history). The good is that all these streets are still the same in modern Saragossa, with different names and buildings, but the streets still remain, and all of them have this medieval taste of the dark and narrow streets :-) ... Probably (I'm quite sure) there are a lot of Jewish ruins under all these buildings. Another interesting data, all these streets have nowadays catholic saints names [1]: it seems that the Catholic authorities tried to make forget Jews when they were expulsed (they say in order to "clean" the zone :-S). That's the case of "Santo Dominguito de Val Street", a martyr child that was supposed killed by Jews in Saragossa. These are things that are unknown by most of Saragossa inhabitant, ... Aljaferia palace and Muslim heritage are well known and promoted here, but in my opinion we must not forget the other cultures that lived also here. That's a topic that we have to write in Aragonese Wikipedia, cause we even had an Judeo-Aragonese dialect in our country:-) --Willtron (?) 09:31, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi! You can see the photos here! :-D ... I have created the category "Judaism in Zaragoza" with all the photos that I've taken related to Jewish Saragossa... I have made also a map with the medieval Jewish quarters of the city and the main buildings. I have explained all the photos in its description (in Aragonese and English, if you want you could add a Russian or Hebrew description also). All the photos have also a link to google maps with the exact location where I took them :-)... We can divide the photos in several groups, ... I explain it to you:

1) two photos that you asked to me, just like they appear in "Tarbut Sefarad" webpage: this (where was the great synagogue) and this (the main gate to Jewish quarter), I've tried to take more or less the same perspective.

2) the location places of the ancient synagoges of Bicorolim and minor synagoge: here and here respectively.

3) the "seven callizos" (siete callizos), or the "new quarter", the part of the Jewish quarter out of the main city wall,... as you know composed by seven streets (callizos, small streets)... nowadays there are 4 of this 7 streets, and they have exactly the same form of the medieval Jewish streets they are Rufas Street, Urrea Street, Hermanos Ibarra Street and Mateo Flandro Street (here it was the synagogue of the seven callizos)

4) Saint Charles square... that's the centre of Jewish Saragossa, and where great synagoge was located. I've taken two photos of the square and old seminary and the church, but unfortunatelly there was scaffoldings :-S (you'll find better photos here). In the same square there is a renacentist palace (Casa de los Morlanes) that has a "menorah" decorating a window, so I take two photos of the detail (n1 and n2)... it was supposed to be made to remember Jewish presence in this place.

5) And in the end I've taken photos of other Jewish quarter streets (Santo Dominguito de Val St., San Lorenzo St. and San Jorge St.) and a photo of an informative panel in St.Charles square (here)

And I think that's all :-) ... I've don't finally gone to museum, because we now the authors of the picture and we can take pictures from Internet. About Jewish Baths... ye I think that you can upload here photos with fair use license (but I don't know if Russian wikipedia admit Fair use :-P) or another opcion is talk to "Tarbut Sefarad" people and ask them if they want to let us upload their images to wikipedia. In any case, I promise that when baths open to public I'll go and take photos :-D ... but probably we must wait years for this :-S... Thanks for pictures! I added several of them to my Russian article Hasdai Cresques. If you write about Jewish history of Saragosa, keepo in mind that riots of 1391 did not happen there due to presence of King in the city. So, Saragosa turned a kind of Jewish center. Hasdai Crescas also sent refuges to Navarra and Palestine. There was also another story of more late period with King Martin, and there is a legend about libel and so-called Purim of Saragosa. Professor Blasco from Saragossa Univ. told that Crecsal lived in str. de los Torneros, now Calle Veronica. But it was completely rebuilt in 16th century. Professor Blasco said that it is impossible to see judeira on the painting. More: these Jewish baths, was in reality king's properyt and used for usual hygiene. Yes,... Calle Veronica is the street where nowadays are the ruins of the Ancient Roman Theather of Caesaraugusta (you can see here the street behind the ruins, and here is the aspect of the street nowadays in google maps, as you can see all the houses are new). In the same place was the "alcaicería" (I think it's like a flea market) of Jewish Saraqusta. And you can see, another reference to cristianism in the core of Jewish quarter :-P ...they change "torneros" (that's the people who work with a potter's wheel, probably the artesans that make pottery lived here) with "Veronica", very simbolic, cause was a Jewish woman converted to cristianism :-S ... I know that picture of old Saragossa, but it's a view of 17th century and there was no juderia in those years... Nevertheless, can you see the broken bridge?... this is the Stone bridge of Saragossa (here) and points directly to the center of Roman Caesaraugusta (Calle Don Jaime I...in the Roman ages was the cardo)... if you look just a little to the left of this point there is a big building in the background (in fact the tallest, in the center of the image),... I think that more or less that was the place where was located the judería. Saragossa is a city that nowadays have a lot of new buildings or reconstructed buildings, so there are only a few medieval buildings... Whe had a couple of little problems (1 and 2) with French in the 19th century :-D... and the city was almost destroyed :-( --Willtron (?) 22:47, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

10-11 January 2011 there was a conference in Jerusalem on Crescas, prof Blasco also gave a lecture in Spanish. Spanish ambassador also appaered. I missed he event but made a contact with local professors after that. They say that prof. Asuncion (Suni) Blasco just has this signature! So, ask to put the copy into Wiki. Now she can send me a copy, she can send you a copy and you upload it, she can point to the place, where it is published already. All these possibilities are very good. She can refer to somebody who has it (worse but still gives a hope). She can say that nothing like this exists, it will be the worst but final. The signature of Crescas (seems to be Cresques) in Catalan and Hebrew was found in Pamplona archives. Crescas signed that he obtained some money from King Charles III of Navarra as a messenger of King Martin I of Aragon around 405, and I am dying to have it! Your edit to "Tropical year"

Your edit to Tropical year appeared to use the comma as a decimal point. However, as explained at WP:DECIMAL, the English Wikipedia always uses a period, also called a full stop (.), as the decimal point and never uses the comma for that purpose.

Also, the value in the article which you changed is the number of days in a century using the Julian calendar, which is thirty-six thousand, five hundred twenty-five (36,525), so the value in the article was correct. Jc3s5h (talk) 13:04, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
