Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Muslims for Progressive Values has been reverted.
Your edit here to Muslims for Progressive Values was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.meetup.com/MPVAtl/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

To whom it may concern or Daniel - My account, currently labeled MPV_NY, has been blocked and I would like to request that you kindly remove this block. This was my first attempt at working on a Wikipedia article and I believe that my account has been blocked prematurely; I am still learning to make proper reference list along with other items. Currently, some external citations have been provided alongside the information provided. However, I understand that the article requires proper reference list and more citations that do not rely only on the organization's website. Please understand that some of us are still new to the process. My original goal was to provide a criticism section as progressive Muslims or more specifically, MPV, earns its share of criticism from the orthodox community. The intended goal is not to self-promote but to offer a neutral resource for moderate Muslim audiences to learn more about this issue quickly. The article on MPV, similarly to CAIR, provides information on a new type of movement and organizations that are emerging across the U.S - a more progressive Islam. I strongly believe that such resources are helpful to a wider audiences. I would also like to confirm that I am not an employee of this organization. Lastly, while this my first article, I do intend to work on other articles related to South Asia and Islam. Since a large number of the internet community turn to Wikipedia as one of the first source for information, I would really appreciate your positive decision to continue this article. I would also appreciate any guidance on how to avoid future conflict. Many thanks in advance.

Decline reason:

This request for unblocking has been declined due to your history of vandalism and/or disruption to this encyclopedia. However, we are willing to give you another chance provided that you can earn back the trust of the Wikipedia community. To be unblocked you need to demonstrate that you are willing and able to contribute positively to Wikipedia. You can do this by:
  • Familiarizing yourself with our basic rules.
  • Read our guide to improving articles
  • Pick any pre-existing article you wish to improve.
  • Click the Edit tab at the top of that article and scroll down past the message informing you of your block.
  • Copy the source of that article and paste it to the bottom of your talk page under a new top-level heading (like this: = [[Article title]] =) and save the page before you improve it.
  • Propose some significant and well researched improvements to your article by editing your personal copy of the article. Please note that we are not looking for basic typo corrections, or small unreferenced additions; your edits should be substantial, and reflect relevant policies.
  • When you are done with your work, re-request unblocking and an administrator will review your proposed edits.
    • If we (including the original blocking admin) are convinced that your proposed edits will improve Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, you will be unblocked.
If you need help while working with your proposed edits, you may add "{{Help me|your question here ~~~~}}" to your talk page. Thank you. the panda ₯’ 18:54, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My account, currently labeled MPV_NY, has been blocked and I would like to request for kind removal of this block on my IP address. This was my first attempt at working on a Wikipedia article and I believe that my account has been blocked prematurely; I am still learning to make proper reference list along with other items. I have reviewed additional resources to avoid similar errors in the future. I understand that the article on Muslims for Progressive Values requires proper reference list and more citations that do not rely only on the organization's website. Please understand that as I am still new to the process, some edits take longer as I am learning as I go. My original goal was to provide a criticism section since progressive Muslims or more specifically, MPV, earns its share of criticism from the orthodox community. The intended goal of the article is not to self-promote but to offer a neutral resource for moderate Muslim audiences who are interested in learning more about this issue. The article on MPV, similarly to CAIR, provides information on a new type of movement and organizations that are emerging across the U.S - a more progressive Islam. If given the opportunity, I would like to make edits to the language to have a more neutral tone to the article, include a more extensive reference list that does not rely on organization's website, and update with a section which includes criticism/ negative feedback. I strongly believe that such resources are helpful to a wider audiences and especially to the LGBQT Muslim community which has many questions on where they fit in Islam. Additionally, I would also like to confirm that I am not an employee of this organization. While this was my first article, I hope it won't be my last. I intend to contribute on other articles related to South Asia and Islam. Since a large number of the internet community turn to Wikipedia as one of the first source for information, I would really appreciate your positive decision that would allow me to contribute to this article constructively and in accordance to Wikipedia guideline. I would also appreciate any guidance/ resources on how to avoid future conflict. Many thanks in advance.}} (MPV NY (talk) 17:04, 19 June 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Comments about unblock New editor aside, there are major issues with many of your edits. First, they violate our Manual of Style. Second, many of them appear to be test edits - they actually include "example" throughout - this is unacceptable on a live article. Third, they violate the neutral point of view required on this project. Fourth, they actively promote the organization. Fifth, whether you're an employee or a member is irrelevant - conflict of interest is conflict of interest. The problem I see with an unblock is that you'll be returning to an article you're associated with, and you'll once again be including test edits into a live article. I am going to decline the unblock above, but will decline using the wP:SECONDCHANCE template, which will allow you to choose other topics, and prove to us you're willing to pay attention to the guidelines and policies that you agreed to the panda ₯’ 18:52, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
