[edit]Naming poorly referenced existing articles as examples in an attempt to justify accepting a new article can lead to the example articles being considered for deletion. David notMD (talk) 20:22, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
David notMD : I was asked to name the article which I viewed today by Ruslik_Zero. I simply mentioned it because it seems to me that people new to Wikipedia (as Iam) would like to see a more rigorous consistency in the application of criteria and paradigms. If people are having new articles rejected then they are inevitably going to compare rejected articles with those which are established for public viewing. I do not want any article deleted if it adds to our sum of knowledge. As a newcomer to Wikipedia, I was not aware of your assertion on deletion of articles. However, it seems rather harsh, almost tyrannical, that such an action should be taken when both new and existing pages are open to modification in terms of referencing and sourcing.
- Did not mean to appear overly harsh. Rescuing weak articles is always preferred to starting an Article for Deletion (AfD) process. Within medical/health topics - my area of interest - the project manager periodically identifies a list of articles with no references, asking people to either rescue or nominate. Also, the AfD process allows for a time of 7-14 days while the article is being considered. Ideally, the article creator and any editors who have made significant recent contributions are notified and given an opportunity to remedy weaknesses. David notMD (talk) 22:15, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- FYI - There are two other deletion processes. See Wikipedia:Deletion policy. For several specific causes (for example, copyright violation or clearly promotional) an editor can nominate a draft or article for Speedy Deletion or for Proposed deletion (Prod). These go to the attention of Administrators, who make a decision. David notMD (talk) 22:19, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
AfC notification: Draft:Shaun May (Marxist) has a new comment
[edit]Theroadislong (talk) Thanks, I have understood this now after yesterday's discussion. I will delete the draft. Mahler johnson (talk) 15:16, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
You need to request vanishing, no one will do it for you; see WP:VANISH. I'm sorry that you don't wish to participate. Good day. 331dot (talk) 14:52, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
