Shildon Locomotion Museum[edit]

Hello. Thanks for cleaning up Shildon Locomotion Museum. You've done a much better job than most new contributors. I may have been a bit harsh in listing it for deletion but in my experience people create these articles, someone lists them for cleanup, and then the author never bothers to take responsibility for what they've deposited in Wikipedia, therefore it's often better to nip them in the bud as it were. I hope this explains why I took the step of putting it on VfD. It resulted in the article being cleaned up anyway. Cheers and sorry for trying to condemn the article to extermination rather than giving it a chance to be sorted out. — Trilobite (Talk) 18:29, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Many thanks for your kind comments :) Now that I have a more thorough understanding of Wikipedia, I understand completely why this article was nominated for VfD. Mikesc86 01:52, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion vandalism[edit]

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Ansell Review my progress! 01:11, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

  • It is supposed to be there. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Lamest_edit_wars#Speedy_deletion_criteria
    • This quote right after your addition says otherwise, "this is an example of an attack page, not of patent nonsense; please don't reword to make it silly" Ansell Review my progress! 01:15, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
      • What on Earth are you going on about? My edit is a much more realistic example of an attack than "John Citizen is a moron". Mikesc86 01:18, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
        • Quoting Lamest Edit Wars as a source can be seen as disrupting wikipedia. Your example is patent nonsense IMO, and hence not a good example of an attack. Ansell Review my progress! 01:22, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
          • If Lamest Edit Wars is disruptive, then I propose a VfD Mikesc86 01:26, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
            • I didn't say the page was disruptive. I said that using it to justify actions is disruptive. The page is there to document past happenings and why they should not happen again. Ansell Review my progress! 01:29, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
              • You're funny, I like you. But I hate the messy code your signature leaves behind. Mikesc86 01:33, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Re:Inappropriate Speedy Deletion[edit]

Thank you for your comments. Perhaps it was a mistake, perhaps it was not, I don't know it was too long ago. However, you should note that administrators do not need "concensus" on an AfD page to speedily delete an article if they believe that it falls under one of the categories on WP:CSD. Once it has been speedily deleted, an administrator will then close any open AfD debate with "speedily deleted" regardless of the debate on the AfD page. enochlau (talk) 02:10, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Tyne and Wear[edit]

Hi there, I'm currently considering making a wikiproject called Wikipedia:WikiProject Tyne and Wear and I'm just wondering if you would be interested in joining if and when It's created as I noticed from a user category you live in County Durham. It would be all about improving and creating wikipedia articles relating to Tyne and Wear. If you have any questions, comments please tell me on my talk page and if you know any other users who maybe interested in joining please feel free to tell them as it will need a few members in order to make it run smoothly. I will also be willing to create the project page and templates etc if there are enough active members. Please leave your name here if you are interested. Could you also please tell me whether you are interested or not on my talk page - You can take as-long as you require to decide! Thanks. TellyaddictEditor review! 16:20, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Star-wreck-2.png[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Star-wreck-2.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Diaspora (computer game)[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Diaspora (computer game), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Unspecified source for Image:Nimbusmockup.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nimbusmockup.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:26, 10 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 08:26, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:Swingset2.png[edit]

I have tagged Image:Swingset2.png as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 08:26, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Swingset2.png)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:Swingset2.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:08, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Norfolk Open Link[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Norfolk Open Link, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Openlink (Norwich,UK). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 19:34, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Copy-n-Paste Moves[edit]

Please do not make copy-n-paste moves as you did with Openlink (Norwich,UK) to Norfolk Open Link. Copy-n-paste moves shouldn't be done as they disassociate the edit history which causes GFDL compliance issues. You should move pages instead. I have fixed this one. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre 20:39, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Star-wreck-2.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Star-wreck-2.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 10:32, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Troubles with user:Tedicky[edit]

I see you have had trouble with the user:Tedicky also, this guy just went and vandalized my user page trying to say it is subject to subject page criteria . I also had to report him to the administrators. We need a hunting license for these bad trolls, their input is nothing but counterproductive, Good luck, down with bad trolls, happy editing and posting. Fair use rationale for File:Diaspora ss.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Diaspora ss.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 08:26, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Diaspora (computer game)[edit]

Hi Mikesc86, I don't think you're still active here but I could do with some information from you. In your original draft of the Diaspora you mentioned the December 2000 issue of PC Gamer giving a 95% score. I've looked through the PC Gamer online review archive from that period but couldn't find that review. Can you tell me if this was the UK or US edition of the magazine, issue number, what the extent of the coverage was, or better still a page scan? Thanks, Marasmusine (talk) 13:34, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Bitcoin reversion[edit]

Please don't undo my changes to the Bitcoin page before first checking in on the Talk:Bitcoin page, where we had reached a consensus before I acted. You made some comments there but never mentioned that you had reverted my changes. Now I have to manually re-revert your changes, which is a pain. Chris Arnesen 04:31, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
