Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Trevor Foster has been reverted.
Your edit here to Trevor Foster was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://nkpom.wordpress.com/trevor-foster-mbe-1916-2005/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Eric Ashton do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia.

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Unblock

Request reason:

My contributions related to members of the Rugby League Hall of Fame; I ran a non-profit website in tribute to Hall of Fame members and the wider game. I am involved in a supporters group for London Broncos; again a non-profit; and would like to contribute to pages relating to London Broncos and its players, past and present. I have never posted on behalf of a Company or any profit making organisation.

Decline reason:

You're not going to be unblocked unless you agree to stop canvassing Wikipedia with links. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:55, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Apologies just revisited the decision you made about my unblocking today. I will indeed agree not to canvass Wikipedia with Links; in fact I was unaware that I had done so and certainly didn't do so intentionally. If there ism any help on avoiding being used by third parties could you please send me links?Nkpom (talk) 09:11, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I'm going to decline this as stale as the user appears to have given up without really addressing the points below. Nkpom, per Daniel's message below, if you want to revisit this then you will need to make a new unblock request with a request for a new username and also address the spamming point I made below. Please give a read through our guide on avoiding improper external linking and avoiding linkspam. Let me know if you have any questions! m.o.p 03:45, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure this has been explained very clearly to you: the problem with your editing, for which you were blocked, is that you have repeatedly added links to what appears to be your personal blog or website. These links are generally not acceptable as references on Wikipedia and repeatedly adding them gives the impression that you are not here to improve our site but rather to drive traffic to yours. That you were unaware of doing so is simply not believable, though I can understand if you simply didn't understand what "canvas Wikipedia with links" meant. Any successful unblock appeal will need to address this. GoldenRing (talk) 00:01, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @Daniel Case: as blocking admin. Bobherry Talk Edits 13:31, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the ping. The user has not addressed the fact that he will have to agree to change his name if unblocked, since it was the same as the blog's subdomain, and we sort of presume intent to spam in these cases.

If he wants to better understand the reason for the block he is welcome to read the plain and simple conflict of interest policy, the long version, a list of the sort of things we remove when added to the external-links section, and the username policy as it relates to names indicating promotional intent.
