Steve Barron
[edit]I was reading the page for Steve Barron and I had to do some changes, so I thought to let you know why I did that. Steven Barron did not made his directing debut on "Billie Jean" on 1983, he had done almost 30 music videos before that, making his debut in 1979. --L.a.m.b 15:27, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I reverted to the old infobox as I felt the new box was really too invasive to the page. Arniep 16:25, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
Check out the Jesus article and edit it to keep it focused on Jesus and a biographical account of Him. Watch the Jesus page to keep it focused on Him. Thank you. Scifiintel 22:17, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Your changes at The West Wing
[edit]Thanks for coming to edit at the Wiki. We hope you like it here. Regarding your changes at The West Wing, they are not wholly correct. I just wanted to clarify why I made the revert. You changed divisible by 4 to leap year in the section about when elections are held in the real world. This is not accurate because occasionally (like in the year 1900 or 2100) a year divisible by 4 is not a leap year. Thank you for reading over the article! -Scm83x 11:42, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Have I got news for you cats
[edit]Hi, I have asked for these to be listified on Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2005 December 18 as I don't think it is practical to have categories for every tv/radio programme or film people may have appeared on. Thanks Arniep 02:01, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Come and vote your mind
[edit]Dear Christian friend,
I saw you on the list of Christian Wikipedians and wanted to let you know about something. The other day, someone nominated 12 Christian biography entries for deletion! They include a Christian university list of people (not unlike 68 other lists like it)[1], presidents of universities, and authors of many books.
Since that time, people have been voting. Please take this message as a call to vote; not a call to vote a certain way. I respect you and your ability to come, read the entry, and make a wise decision. In other words, I’m not vote stacking or campaigning; simply letting you know something that you’d probably like to know.
By the way, my friend recently started an organization called Wiki4Christ. If you’d like to join a network of Christians with a purpose on Wikipedia, please see the site!
Below are some of the links that need attention. Thanks for your consideration.

Image Tagging Image:John_Major.jpg
[edit]This image may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:John_Major.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --OrphanBot 02:54, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Request for edit summary
[edit]Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 13% for major edits and 2% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 18:30, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Dominion (Star Trek).png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Dominion (Star Trek).png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 21:22, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Hindu calendar eras
[edit]Hi; I've got a suggestion for improving your Template:Different calendars. It concerns the "Hindu calendar", which is really a number of different regional calendars following similar principles and terminology. Specifically, I think different eras besides Kali Yuga should be included: I'd appreciate it if you could look at my proposal and say what you think. Richard III; British or English?
[edit]Just out of curiousity, why the change to 'English monarchs' category? Candle-ends 17:16, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Template:British Monarchs used to include monarchs from the Kingdom of England but it was decided that it was inappropriate to include English monarchs but not Scottish or Irish, so the monarchs who only ruled over England were moved to there own template. Philip Stevens 17:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Would that be 'only ruled over England and Wales'? And I think Ireland was technically (if insecurely) in English hands at that time, too. Candle-ends 19:06, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- During the Kingdom of England Wales was classed as part of England and to some extent still is. Those who were also monarchs of Ireland are indicated with a ‡. Philip Stevens 19:22, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Sorry - I should have looked at the Kingdom of England link first Candle-ends 19:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Romano Prodi
[edit]Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, that's why I removed that infobox. It is not sure Prodi will be appointed as new Prime Minister, especially if the Senate, which has a very narrow majority of the centre-left, should either elect a president different than the centre-left candidate or refuse a vote of confidence on Prodi. I wouldn't be so sure of that, so it's much better to wait for the events yet to come. --Angelo 19:03, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Jamie Cullum 1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. Albert II of Monaco
[edit]Why did you change Albert II's investiture to coronation? In Monaco the enthronement ceromony is an investiture, Albert II wasn't crowned. GoodDay 22:11, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- I realise that, but there wasn't a coronation field on Template:Infobox Monarch and coronation was the closest equivalent. I have now added an investiture field for the Princes of Monaco. Philip Stevens 06:01, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Current spaceflight
[edit]I think the tag {{Current spaceflight}} is for pages on spaceflight which are being edited very frequently (every few minutes) because they are currently headline news. I don't think old missions like Voyager and Hubble qualify. Rnt20 08:39, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- On the page it says it's for "highly notable unmanned missions." Philip Stevens 09:06, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:Brock Peters.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Brock Peters.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. YellowDot 15:48, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Vote on your nomination
[edit]You should vote on your RM nomination at Jack Straw (politician). I'm not sure the nominator is always counted otherwise. — AjaxSmack 01:45, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Incumbent
[edit]I just thought you might want to take another look at the definition of incumbent. As it is used in the articles you changed, it was used correctly. The incumbent, in politics, is the current holder of a political office. . The incumbent doesn't have to be available for reelection. A few definitons AuburnPilotTalk 16:28, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- My mistake. Though the term "Incumbent" for a nomination of an election that has past just didn't look right. Philip Stevens 16:30, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi! First of all, whoever categorized it under Arabic is wrong! It's Persian and if you take a look at the article, you will notice it has been done already, in Persian. --Anas Salloum 19:20, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Philip,
- Your edits to this template are coursing problems for all the pages of incumbents. This is especially apparent on Romano Prodi where the dates are all bunched up on one side and it says he is the incumbent President of the European Commission, when he isn't. Thank up. Philip Stevens 16:34, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, have reverted self for time being. Incidentally, noticed anything else...? Regards, David Kernow (talk) 16:38, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
...Hopefully all still functioning correctly and you approve of the <hr>s added in effort to improve template comprehension. Regards, David (talk) 17:19, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- It still isn't working right for Romano Prodi. Philip Stevens 17:46, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- No apparent problem with either of those articles here; try a purge / wait for anyone else's report...? Hopefully, David (talk) 18:10, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- I can see a problem. On Romano Prodi, it says "Incumbent" for President of the European Commission, when he isn't and the dates for the time he was EU President have disappeared. For José Manuel Durão Barroso, it doesn't say he is the incumbent President of the European Commission, which he is, and the dates are there but show both "In office" and "In office since". Philip Stevens 18:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like a single "2" was missing from the code; does all look in order now...? David (talk) 19:44, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- They both look fine now. Thank you. Philip Stevens 19:46, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for spotting the problem! I was thinking the office titles "Nth Leader of Somewhere" looked a bit lost amongst the other information, so maybe they would benefit from (say) a slightly different background... What do you reckon...? Thanks again, David (talk) 19:54, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, it's often difficult to pick out the order... I think it would be best to start a discussion on the template's talk page...
- Have begun this thread accordingly. Yours, David (talk) 20:42, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Image:11 Downing Street.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:11 Downing Street.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 20:52, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
