DYK for Nadja Malacrida

On 12 October 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nadja Malacrida, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Nadja Malacrida said in a Vim advertisement that it was "no use having new ideas of decoration if you have old ideas of dirt"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Nadja Malacrida. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Nadja Malacrida), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Want Help

I have created a page,The Game of Votes. But this page is not showing on google. Please tell me what is the problem?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virenderthind2019 (talkcontribs) 10:36, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

@Virenderthind2019: It may be because there were no links to it from other pages. I've added one, from the page about the author. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:09, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Thanks Sir, In Hidden categories, this page is under Category:All Wikipedia articles needing clarification ,Category:Wikipedia articles needing clarification from October 2019 Why this article is under these categories?? Even page has been reviewed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virenderthind2019 (talkcontribs) 11:17, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

@Virenderthind2019: There's no need to call me "Sir". The categories are because of the template (which displays the suffix "vague") after the sentence "The book highlights the vital role played by the digital and technology platforms in the election outcomes in India as well as globally while showcasing the entire gamut of key players in the electoral field.". Someone added that because they feel the point needs to be more clearly explained. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:30, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Andy, I disagree with your assessment of the article. Virenderthind2019 asked the same question on User talk:1997kB#Page is not showing on google. I see only one good source. V has ignored my response and gone shopping for a more agreeable opinion. Cabayi (talk) 12:07, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

@Cabayi: What specifically do you disagree with? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:13, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
There's only one good source so it doesn't meet WP:NBOOK, the same reasoning I gave on the other thread. Cabayi (talk) 12:34, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
@Cabayi: Please point out where I said the article meets WP:NBOOK. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:41, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

@Cabayi:Thanks Sir, for giving such information. But, what will happen ?if it doesn't meet WP:NBOOK . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virenderthind2019 (talkcontribs) 12:45, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Someone may (or will) propose the article for deletion. Cabayi (talk) 13:02, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
@Cabayi: But Sir, there are so many articles, which are still on wikipedia without references. Example: Vikalpahin nahin hai duniya

Please look at this and please make understand me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virenderthind2019 (talkcontribs) 13:50, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

OK, Vikalpahin nahin hai duniya has been proposed for deletion, Special:Permalink/921398925. Cabayi (talk) 14:44, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Infobox settlement wrappers - PT

There used to be two type-specific wrappers PT municipality and PT parish. Markussep merged them - he seems to be the only one creating more and more country during the last years. As expected, he with some waiting time he added a third type to the wrapper, namely PT CIM [5]. Municipalities of Portugal are the basic foundation and stable for decades, if not centuries. The non-Markussep-way would either to cover them with a type-specific wrapper or directly with infobox settlement. 78.54.192.129 (talk) 17:29, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Infobox name lang parms

Hi. I'm trying to figure out the correct way to handle names in multiple languages in Infoboxes.

For example, Raub, Pahang, had unadorned Arabic and Chinese (which variant?) crammed into the name parm with <br /> separators, which seemed wrong. Template:Infobox_settlement/doc says to use {{Lang}}, but I don't see it saying how/where or give an example.

As you can see, I put the Arabic name wrapped in {{lang-ar}} in native_name, and put the Chinese name wrapped in {{lang-zh}} in other_name. I didn't use native_name_lang at all because it didn't provide the "Arabic:" prefix, and so would be inconsistent with the Chinese name.

Alternatively, I could have wrapped the Chinese name in {{lang|zh}} instead of {{lang-zh}} (i.e. eliminating the "Chinese:" prefix) and then used |native_name=ﺭءﺍﻭﺏ‎ and |native_name_lang=ar.

Another choice would be a {{Ubl}} list of {{lang-xx}}-wrapped names in the native_name parm.

I searched a bit, but couldn't find a direct answer, so since you're often involved in discussions of the subject, can you can give me a clue? Thanks! —[AlanM1(talk)]— 20:03, 23 October 2019 (UTC)

New Wikimedian in Residence table and map

Hi Andy. Could you add start and end months in wikidata for your WiR roles? Otherwise wikidata can't calculate the duration. A new wikimedian in residence table should soon be implemented based on data from outreach:Wikimedian_in_residence (draft table). If there are any WiRs you know that are missing, please add them. In the meantime, see the map! T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 00:34, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
