Welcome!

Hello, RS485, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as The Comet's Curse, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Inks.LWC (talk) 03:33, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Comet's Curse has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article fails WP:GNG, and most of the references are just links to Amazon.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Inks.LWC (talk) 03:33, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cosmic Storm (Galahad book) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Jacqueline Emerson, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by ClueBot NG.

Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Poker Face (Lady Gaga song). Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:41, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello! I just finished reviewing your Perfect (Ellen Hopkins novel). Thanks for contributing! As a newer user you may want to check out WikiProjects to work with others who have similar interests and to know areas that could use some assistance. Some ideas are Wikipedia:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers or Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks! --Tbennert (talk) 03:47, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Smoke (novel

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Smoke (novel. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Smoke (novel). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Smoke (novel) - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. — Jean Calleo (talk) 01:10, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, RS485, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you worked on, Smoke (novel), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

It helps to explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Help Desk. Thanks again for contributing! CharlieDelta (talk) 07:08, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from The Clique (series). When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Shatter me, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://emmamaree.com/reviews/emma-maree-reviews-shatter-me/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. What did you think about the deletion notice you received?

[edit]

Hi RS485,

In November you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:

  1. Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
  2. If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
  3. What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?

You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchuk@wikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! Sources

[edit]

Hiya! I'm just writing to tell you something I recently found out as well: we can't use the book jacket as a quote under the plot description area unless it's worked in as a quote to back up something else that'd been written. The frustrating thing about that is that we can't use the author's site since it's a primary source and we can't use those unless we have secondary and independent sources to back it up, which are sort of scant at this point in time since Tilt's book release is still months away. It's kind of frustrating. (sighs)

I also wanted to let you know that you can't use Amazon as a source at all since it's a merchant site and has a stake in any of the products it sells. Generally speaking, it's best to just discount it as a source entirely. Also, places like Goodreads and Librarything cannot be used as sources either.

In any case, I'm working to try to improve the page and get some sources so nobody deletes it. Just to give you a heads up, it might get snagged for being "too soon" since the book isn't getting released until September. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on my talk page.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 05:21, 23 February 2012 (UTC)tokyogirl79[reply]
