Hello, and thank you for your recent contributions. While the content of your edit may be true, I have removed it because its depth or nature of detail are not consistent with our objectives as an encyclopedia. I recognize that your edit was made in good faith and hope you will familiarize yourself with what Wikipedia is not so we may collaborate in the future. Thank you! Edit to Pneumothorax

[edit]

Wikipedia has a sourcing policy for biomedical claims that requires secondary sources, not primary ones. There is a description of how to find sources for medical articles at Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine) which you should read. In brief, the best sources are review articles (especially systematic reviews) published in reputable medical journals; academic and professional books written by experts in the relevant fields and from respected publishers; and guidelines or position statements from national or international expert bodies. The inclusion of dermatomyositis in the list of causes of secondary spontaneous pneumothorax is already supported by Tschopp JM, Rami-Porta R, Noppen M, Astoul P (September 2006). "Management of spontaneous pneumothorax: state of the art". European Respiratory Journal. 28 (3): 637–50. doi:10.1183/09031936.06.00014206. PMID 16946095., a review article.

The source you used in Pneumothorax was a case report on a single individual, and such reports are not strong enough to base our content on. I have therefore reverted your edit. --RexxS (talk) 13:17, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations. WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:12, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
