Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Rapking007. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Per this edit summary bonadea contributions talk 20:35, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mandatory paid editing disclosure

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Rapking007. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Rapking007. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Rapking007|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Jytdog (talk) 21:16, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have been trying to put up a Wikipedia page for Miss Charming Nigeria, I would love to say that I was not paid for this, I didn't even know that people can be paid for editing Wikipedia pages.
However, the reason I am trying to put this Wikipedia page up is because after lots of underground research, I discovered that Miss charming Nigeria is a pageant that really deserves to be on Wikipedia, with over 7000 followers on Instagram, and their content are so nice, they deserve to be on Wikipedia.
It is almost four months that I have been trying to put up this page.
I want to make history as being the ist person to put this article on Wikipedia before anyone else.
Please approve the page.
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rapking007 (talkcontribs) 23:16, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please disclose any connection you have with the pageant. Please reply here, just below this, when you do. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 00:41, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mr Jtydog, I do not have a connection with the Pageant, I want to start putting up Wikipedia pages for beauty pageants in Africa, I want to be the ist to start this project, I have made some research about beauty pageant in Africa, and I decided to start with Miss Charming Nigeria, after getting reliable source from Newspaper and blogs in the country, if you don't approve this page, I will be devastated, and this won't make me write about other credible pageants.
The Nigerian Government isn't doing enough to support many of these people, yet they are trying their best to create fashion models out of aspiring models.
Kindly approve this page Mr jtydog so that I can write about another pageant in Accra Ghana.
Thanks
Much love from here — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rapking007 (talkcontribs) 06:04, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your response is not credible. I am escalating this to the COI noticeboard. Jytdog (talk) 12:45, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
