Notables must have sources[edit]

Your recent edit to the article for Fairview, Bergen County, New Jersey reinserted Silvio Laccetti as a notable. No Wikipedia article exists for Laccetti and the sources provided establish no connection to Fairview. In the absence of an article and the required sources, per WP:NLIST, the entry will be removed. Alansohn (talk) 01:18, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Again, with this edit, the problem is a lack of a Wikipedia article. Without the article for Silvio Laccetti, the entry will be removed again. I'm happy to help, but edit warring to reinsert a non-notable is not the way to handle this. Alansohn (talk) 22:24, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Alansohn, your original complaint was lack of "sources" proving a connection to Fairview for Professor Laccetti. I have provided a reference from the Congressional Record and a reference from an accredited news source, NorthJersey.com. I am working on a profile for Professor Laccetti; and if you Google his name, you will find an immense amount of material by and about him on the Web. All I ask is that you leave his "notable" reference in place long enough for me to get started on his Wikipedia profile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmmcalmon1895 (talkcontribs)

    • I see the draft article that you've created. I'm skeptical, but I will leave the entry in the Fairview article for a while. Alansohn (talk) 22:18, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Silvio Laccetti requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://tranquility49.com/blog/2011/05/30/silvio-laccetti/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa (talk) 20:44, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Danielle Sheypuk. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Please don't do copy and paste page moves[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Danielle Sheypuk a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Danielle Sheypuk. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:41, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Diannaa, thanks for your assistance on this. I will also have commentary on the edit request regarding Draft:Silvio Laccetti.

I have adopted Draft:Danielle Sheypuk as an abandoned article, only because I know her reputation/story (and do not know her personally). I am not receiving compensation for this article, nor I am I connected in any way with Danielle Sheypuk, her employers, organizations or allies in activism. Indeed, I am an unemployed ex-grad student living in the Greater NY Area, seeking to develop my skills as a Wikipedist. I will endeavor to work according to the guidelines that are outlined here; and if I need assistance, I do appreciate your availability to answer my queries. Thank you. - Rmmcalmon1895 13:19, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Rmmcalmon1895. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Draft:Silvio Laccetti, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:42, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Diannaa, I am afraid I do not fall under any of the four negative categories listed above regarding Draft:Silvio Laccetti. I do not know the professor personally. I did not attend Stevens Institute. However, with a friend, I attended an informal talk Laccetti gave in Hoboken in early 2015. On that occasion I snapped a photo of Laccetti speaking which was subsequently requested for use by the Hoboken Reporter. I granted free permission through the professor's consulting group, but I retain original rights. Having read some of the professor's extensive work and about his career and reputation online, I believe that he is more than worthy of an article on Wikipedia. Others may disagree, but I intend to defend my choice of topic on this occasion. Thank you. - Rmmcalmon1895 13:32, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
