Speedy deletion nomination of Axis41

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Axis41 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Acroterion (talk) 01:46, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Moved into your userspace

[edit]

Hi! I noticed that your article on Axis41 was nominated for deletion as it didn't show how it passed notability guidelines. I have to agree that it currently fails notability guidelines, but since it looks to be one of your first articles and you show an interest in continuing to work on it, I've moved it into your userspace to User:RoaryHollace/Axis41.

Now as far as notability goes, notability is established by showing that the company has received coverage in independent and reliable sources. Of the sources on the article, none were usable as far as RS goes. The first link ([1]) is considered to be a regular business database type entry, similar to how people are listed in phone books. Such things can't show notability. These sort of links are considered primary at best and are usually discouraged as links in general. The Bloomberg link doesn't help either, as it doesn't link to the actual article in question. Now this link looks like it's referring to a press release, which can't show notability since it's considered a primary source. The document from Ciena would also be considered a WP:PRIMARY source since they're partnering with Axis41. Anything that is released by someone who is involved with the company is going to be considered a primary source.

The article as a whole also needs some general tweaking, as it reads a little rough. That's not deletable in and of itself, but it'll need to be fixed. I would recommend using articles such as Comcast as a guideline. I also sort of recommend against using a timeline format, as that usually doesn't flow very well on here. I would recommend getting someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Companies to help you look for sources and for formatting the article in general. I hope that this helps explain a little as to why the article was tagged. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:07, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
