If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Brittany Billmeyer-Finn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. • Hi SacSkywalker, DevDefiance! I received a notification about this deletion. I've moved this back to User:DevDefiance/Brittany Billmeyer-Finn as it's not ready yet to be moved live. What this needs to show notability is coverage in independent and reliable sources. You have a primary source, however that's not something that can show notability. Be very cautious, as not all people pass notability guidelines and it can be even more difficult for poets, as their work isn't something that is always mainstream. It's difficult with authors in general, but poets do tend to get passed over more frequently than novelists, for example. Try to find links to things like news articles about her work, journal articles that review her books or poems, or other in-depth coverage in places like scholarly texts. Being published as a poet won't give notability - the coverage is key. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 23:53, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Article creations

[edit]

I have looked at several of your recent creations and they do not have any independent, third party reliable source. Wikipedia requires that the subjects of articles meet certain inclusion criteria. In this case they are the General Notability Guidelines and notability guidelines for organizations. Articles about subjects which do not meet these inclusion criteria will be subject to being nominated for deletion. Please do not move any more articles into Article space without including independent, third party reliable sources. Thank you. Jbh Talk 21:50, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Back to draft

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:TransYouth Family Allies. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. See my comments on the draft's Talk page for an explanation. Largoplazo (talk) 22:41, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Family Acceptance Project moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Family Acceptance Project, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page.

This article has only references to self published material. Please add some independent, third party reliable sources before placing article in main space. Jbh Talk 22:56, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted articles

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that the articles you created were getting nominated for deletion. It looks like one of the main issues is one of notability. You need to have independent, reliable sources to establish notability on Wikipedia, like news articles or in-depth mentions in academic or scholarly works or they run the risk of being deleted. Another issue seems to be tone, so you need to make sure that your articles don't contains promotional, praising language. Let me know on my talk page if you need any help. Speedy deletion nomination of Ann Mandelbaum

[edit]

Hello SacSkywalker,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ann Mandelbaum for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

@SshibumXZ: and @Bbb23: Sorry for barging in here, but I noticed that Ann Mandelbaum had been deleted as WP:A7: No indication of importance. It may well be that it wasn't obvious from contents of the article at the time that Mandelbaum easily meets our general and applicable special notability criteria, but I do believe that to be the case: For example, there is a monograph published by Hatje Cantz (a reputable publisher) [1] and there are two by Stemmle [2] and [3] These ought to show up in any trivial search for sources. Consider this a plea for applying WP:BEFORE when nominating and performing an A7, and for the creating editor, SacSkywalker to please start with sources. Vexations (talk) 16:16, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Vexations: What you're requesting is not going to happen. Speedy deletions don't require the application of WP:BEFORE, either before tagging or before deleting. To do so would defeat the whole purpose of speedy deletion. It ain't much of an article, but if you'd like me to WP:USERFY it for you, I'd be glad to. Let me know on my Talk page.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:03, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stub articles

[edit]

Hi, I saw that you created more stub articles. Please don't create live stub articles unless notability is clearly established through multiple independent and reliable sources. These sources would be things like articles in newspapers and academic journals, as well as in-depth mentions in scholarly texts. Some websites can also be used, depending on how reliable they are. Primary sources, however, cannot be used to establish notability for someone or something, regardless of what they claim. Stating that someone is affiliated with a specific group or event isn't a guaranteed claim of notability either, so this shouldn't be relied on without good independent sourcing.

I know that some of these were created with the intent they would be improved later during edit-a-thon, however that isn't something that would give the articles a reprieve from deletion. The expectation is that the person creating the articles will establish notability as soon as they're posted live, otherwise they run the risk of being seen as valid deletion candidates. I know that you mean well, but I do have to warn you that repeatedly creating stub articles without establishing notability is often seen as disruptive and there are some accounts that have received a temporary block from editing for doing this after receiving warnings.

My recommendation is to create the stubs in your userspace under titles like "User:SacSkywalker/Draft title" and then have participants edit them from your userspace, then transfer them out live once they're done. This may seem a little more difficult, but it will keep the stubs from getting nominated for deletion and would also give the edit-a-thon participants a lot of time to improve the page without fear of the page getting speedily deleted or otherwise nominated for deletion. I'm going to also ping your instructor, Rebedwards. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:03, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Excess Stub pages

[edit]

Hello Shalor,

Thanks for letting the students know exactly what the issue is. This is really my fault for not setting up the class so that I check the work before it is moved to mainspace. It shouldn't happen again. This week is the week they are working through the unit on peer review and I will make sure to have everyone read through your last comments on the deleted pages.

Thank you for your help, Rebekah — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rebedwards (talkcontribs) 21:19, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
