Copyright violations
[edit]I'm going to email this to you as well, but...
Your edits to create the article Thierry Delva took a large chunk of copyrighted text from DOCUMENTARY SCULPTURE], an essay by Steven Holmes. The author contacted Wikipedia complaining about the copyright violation, which I am in the process of rewriting to remove.
This sort of behavior is not acceptable for Wikipedia editors. Material has to be your original work or otherwise public domain or licensed under the GFDL. Just grabbing text off websites is an abuse of the authors' rights and of Wikipedia.
I would like to request that you come back to Wikipedia and help us by identifying any of the other articles you created which you also grabbed content off the web like that. Any assistance you can give as to where the sources were from, for any other copyright violation articles you may have created, will help us minimize the damage in this situation.
Thank you. Georgewilliamherbert 22:07, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Copyright violation in Rita McKeough
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Rita McKeough, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Rita McKeough is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Copyright violation in Mark Dicey
[edit]Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sunderland06 (talk • contribs) 15:35, 2007 December 20
- I got a copyright violation tag on material I contributed back in 2005. (My tag was placed by a malicious contributor who later turned out to be a rogue POV-pushing sockpuppet.) When I looked at the discussion fora for copyright violations it seemed to me at least half of the violations were either honest mistakes, or cases where the contributor was the original author of the material on the other site, and they just didn't know how to make clear that they were authorized to use that text.
- I think this is the contribution that triggered the concern. If you are the original author of this image -- or you know the original author, and they will release it under a "free" liscense, then that image will comply with policy, and can be restored. Similarly, if you are the original author of the text from the paul kuhn gallery, you are free to reliscense its use here. If you can convince the original author to release it, it can be used here.
- You can get help on how to do this.

Speedy deletion of Tactical Art Coalition
[edit]A tag has been placed on Tactical Art Coalition requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. freshacconcispeaktome 11:15, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
EMMAX
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article EMMAX, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of EMMAX. B. Wolterding (talk) 19:17, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Scifireal! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 710 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
