Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Information icon Hello, Scriber88. I noticed that your recent edit to Permanent/Play Mode added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Thank you. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 06:18, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the album's cover photo via https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Randy_Crawford_-_Play_Mode.jpg. Could you indicate whatsoever problematic issue stems from the uploading of such? With your clarity and cognizance being profoundly appreciated in this instance.(talk to me) 06:32, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That wasn't the file name you (initially) used, so it wouldn't have shown up. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 22:06, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I patrol new album articles so please let me know if you would like any help creating and editing new articles. You seem to be modeling your edits after some older editors who made a lot of mistakes with formatting and citations. I'm doing my best to correct those errors so you may want to model any future articles you create after I make those corrections. Be sure to do things like italicize magazine titles such as Billboard. There is also no need to link a word or term that was already linked previously in the article. Track listing is two words, and in your citations add an access date, and if the publisher and website are the same (like Billboard or AllMusic), you don't have to add both (the ".com" doesn't matter). If you don't understand any of the edits I've made, feel free to ask. Thanks and happy editing. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:02, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yep acknowledged, understood and well appreciated too. Again thanks @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars and what not. Scriber88 (talk) 22:28, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Kool & the Gang - In the Hood.jpg[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — Ирука13 04:24, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Blaster (Transformers character) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blaster (Transformers) (2nd nomination). When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
