Game of Thrones Episode Article Lead Sections

[edit]

I want to commend your effort to reduce excessive detail in the leads of GoT episode articles, and I appreciate your taking up my recommended approach. We were editing Beyond the Wall (Game of Thrones) at the same time, and I decided to substitute my version of the abridged summary for yours. I think it's best to leave out actor names; let them be mentioned later in the lead if any performers were singled out for praise in reviews, or if a performance was part of the episode's notability for any other reason. I also think my version apportioned detail better with respect to the complexity of the different plotlines, and what was necessary for a reader to understand the basic idea. But there was nothing wrong with your new version, per se, and I probably wouldn't have edited it significantly if I hadn't already been writing my version. I did make a few tweaks to my version after reading yours. --DavidK93 (talk) 03:53, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, sir. Yeah, a lot of the leads in the GoT episode articles are pretty excessive indeed. I definitely agree with you leaving out the actor names since those are covered in the cast sections. --Shaneymike (talk) 03:57, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, there should not normally be anything in the lead that isn't also in the body, so leaving something out of the lead because it is also in the body is backwards. Hijiri 88 (やや) 22:20, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But the way the plot summaries were written in the leads for all those episodes that I abridged per the advice of DavidK93 was WAY too repetitive. --Shaneymike (talk) 02:08, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing should be in the lead that isn't addressed in the body. Thus, since the article contains a plot section, it makes sense for the lead to contain a brief overview of the plot. The lead doesn't need to contain a plot summary that rivals the actual plot section for level of detail. --DavidK93 (talk) 20:40, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My sentiments exactly.--Shaneymike (talk) 16:36, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Neil Young studio album count

[edit]

I see you've renumbered several Neil Young studio albums. Which of the Studio Albums listed at Neil Young discography § Studio Albums are you taking out of the order? --bp0 (talk) 18:41, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I counted 38 on the template. Sorry. Shaneymike (talk) 19:48, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This Note's for You originally said 17th but when I counted it on the template it was 16th. Shaneymike (talk) 19:50, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So it looks like the template skips Long May You Run. --bp0 (talk) 02:27, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dying Days, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mad Season (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Game of Thrones

[edit]

Hi. The reason I reverted the removal is the Good article reviewers will request for it to be expanded when the article is submitted for Good article status (it needs to be eligible to be submitted). Though I expanded the lead more (added content covered on the rest of the article - e.g. awards, ratings), I only removed the actors names on the paragraph containing the plot. So feel free to abridge the plot more if you feel that that it's too excessive. Chihciboy (talk) 18:52, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Michael Coleman (actor), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
