[edit]Hello Singing those guitar blues. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, such as the edit you made to Michelle Gass, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Singing those guitar blues. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Singing those guitar blues|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Dom from Paris (talk) 16:03, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
- I actually have no idea what's going on here. I'm newish and lookin to be useful on wikipedia with writing some articles. I'm not sure how you find people who aren't already on wikipedia... I translated some stuff and then I was looking at this page and was surprised some these women don't have wikis. I saw that there was a draft for Michelle Gass but it wasn't that helpful and I didn't know if I was supposed to work from it or just make an artcle. So I made this one but I've got not stake in this. Not sure what next steps are here...I was going to look for some artists who need wikis next from here but obviously I'm not doing anything until I hear from you. - Hi this is the standard warning that new pages reviewers tend to give when an editor sets off alarm bells. Let me explain why I sent you this message.
- You account is, as you said new (34 edits), and your first edit in main space [1] showed skills that only a (very) experienced editor would have. Your first page creation Mien van Bree was almost perfectly formatted with no subsequent edits and was made directly in main space without going through a sandbox or draft. This is absolutely impossible to do as a newbie.
- You have been clearly editing on Wikipedia for quite a while before creating this account. As per WP:VALIDALT there are very few occasions where the use of multiple accounts is authorised.
- Your creation for Michelle Gass poses no problems whatsoever because as a CEO of a fortune 500 company she will very clearly meet notability requirements and as per WP:NBUSINESSPEOPLE it is highly unlikely that the article would not be kept at WP:AFD. It is not the article or the way it is written that is a problem but blackhat editors often create multiple accounts to avoid arousing suspicion and will make neutral uncontroversial edits before slipping in a paid-for edit so as to fly under the radar.
- It is your editing skills that set alarm bells ringing which is why I sent you the message. I am assuming good faith but I do need to know why you have created this new account with such obvious experience already on wikipedia. --Dom from Paris (talk) 13:55, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- I want to thank you for your patience and the calm way that you are explaining things here. I've been usingg IPs and editing from the shadows on wikipedia but I've always been scared to open an account and actual edit and make articles because I see how sometimes new editor are treated and how impatient some editors are in their interactions. I finally decided to make an account and be part of the process rather than just be an IP so that I could make articles and not just edits and I've had all these drafts I was storing on word waiting to have the guts to get involved! Not sure it was the best idea now...Singing those guitar blues (talk) 09:11, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
