June 2023[edit]

Information icon Thank you for contributing to the article Carl Reiner. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, your own website, websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight, expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature, or that rely heavily on rumors and personal opinions, as one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Menu/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. Sam Kuru (talk) 13:39, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Massachusetts, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Commonly understood words like "agriculture" don't need to be wikilinked in a sentence. See MOS:OVERLINK. Belbury (talk) 14:01, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Tulsa race massacre, you may be blocked from editing. Doug Weller talk 14:25, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This was obvious vandalism: "The massacre was largely omitted from local, state, and national histories" - you added Herodtus," — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doug Weller (talkcontribs) 14:28, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Unintentional, I think. In the visual editor that's the first suggested article if you try to link the word "histories".
It's still unhelpful, though. Please do check what a link points to when you add it to an article, SmithWAM1. Belbury (talk) 15:01, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Checking other edits, you've linked to the wrong articles several times (such as [1], [2]).

As a human editor you are expected to check that a link makes sense. Wikipedia isn't automatically serving you the correct link as the first result when you click on "Trinity College" in the biography of an American rapper and the top result is Trinity College, Dublin. --Belbury (talk) 15:08, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@SmithWAM1@Belbury Thanks, I didn't know that. I don't like the Visual editor, another reason to avoid it. SmithWAM1, this wasn't vandalism but it was carelessness and you need to make sure it doesn't continue to happen. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 15:29, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Many of the links you're adding like the one to Pekka Haavisto aren't helpful. Adding links is not a productive activity for a new editor here; links are usually carefully chosen by editors. If you keep up your current editing pattern, you may be blocked. Stop icon This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Cheng Li Hui, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. (all the advice above aren't being taken seriously) – robertsky (talk) 14:50, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing wikilink issues[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Belbury (talk) 08:16, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please respond at the ANI thread before you do any further editing. I'm very close to blocking your account - I don't doubt that you're trying to help, but you are introducing too many factual errors into our articles and you're not listening to the guidance you're being given. Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain namespaces ((Article)) for disruptive editing.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Girth Summit (blether) 11:27, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Since you have continued adding wikilinks after my note above and without discussing the problems with the edits you have made, I have blocked this account from making edits to articles. You are still able to edit talk pages, and project spaces, so you can join the discussion at ANI. If you want to continue editing articles, you will need to address the concerns that you are adding links to articles without checking that those links are valid. Simply accepting the VisualEditor's top suggestion is not good enough - they are sometimes good suggestions, but very often they are not. Girth Summit (blether) 11:30, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
