I have nominated Robert Brown (baseball), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Brown (baseball). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Everyone Dies In the End (talk) 18:00, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

First off, let me say that I am a few Dodger fan, Laker fan, and Angelino. Second off, I think the principle you're using to delete Padilla (WP:CRYSTAL) isn't entirely applicable. By the same logic, we shouldn't post the season schedules of baseball teams, because they might get rained out. Purplebackpack89 (Notes Taken) (Locker) 19:34, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

The schedule is set... we know what the schedule will be... the opening day starter template is for the pitchers that started on opening day... this years opening day has not happened yet.. so listing Padilla as the starter is a violation of WP:Crystal. He shouldn't be listed as such until he actually takes the mound on opening day. Spanneraol (talk) 19:49, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Your argument is hash, and is keeping information people want to know from them Purplebackpack89 (Notes Taken) (Trails blazed) 22:57, 28 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Purplebackpackonthetrail (talkcontribs)

Article creations

Hey. When you add the wikiproject templates to your created articles, could you fill them out? Pretty clear that they'd be Stub/Low ones, so no need to leave them unassessed. Thanks, Wizardman Operation Big Bear 23:57, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Sure.. I'll start doing that. Spanneraol (talk) 01:50, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Minor league articles discussion

Hey, just a heads up, I started a discussion at WT:WPBB about some of your edits on minor league player articles. Your input would be appreciated. Thanks. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 22:19, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

The article Bill Berrier has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. J04n(talk page) 20:01, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 21:17, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Roster updates

I updated the date because the Great Lakes Loons roster page is current through that date. That way, one can use the transaction log to determine if there have been any moves since the last time the roster page was checked. It also allows the viewer to know how current the roster page is. --sanfranman59 (talk) 06:16, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Just seems silly to me to update the date if no changes are made.. i've been updating those pages pretty much anytime a transaction occurs. Spanneraol (talk) 22:51, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
You say to-mah-to, I say to-may-to. Anyways, I don't regularly work on the roster pages anymore, so I'll defer to someone who does. --sanfranman59 (talk) 00:09, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

J. T. Wise

Hi, I explained to Muboshgu that the reason the "general references" were added was because the external links (for whatever reason) are not recognized as general references at WP:DYK and WP:GA. Please don't remove them because if you do, I would have to cite them in the text, cluttering up the article, and making it more redundant. Thanks. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 00:06, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Dodgers season succession boxes

I'd been removing these from these pages because they duplicate information already found in the Dodgers template, but noticed that you just re-added them. Is there some reason these are necessary? None of the other team-season pages use them that I've seen (except the Angels, but I'm removing those as well, as well as a bunch of other clutter added by one editor that is unrelated to the articles). -Dewelar (talk) 03:47, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

It's easier to go from one season to the next without having to open up the template. The Angels and the Blue Jays also have that feature. Spanneraol (talk) 03:58, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
That's true. What concerns me is, as I mentioned, that it provides the same information as a template that's right next to it. I wonder if it might be better to put it in the infobox, like the music project does with artist discographies. That way it looks less like clutter. -Dewelar (talk) 04:05, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Might be better but I'm not too good at editing that info box... Right now it's only one click to go to the next page, with the template, you need three clicks.Spanneraol (talk) 04:17, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes. I will not delete them unilaterally any more. I'd be happy to edit the infobox, now that I've learned my way around them a bit. I went ahead and asked at the project talk page to see how other folks would like to see it presented. -Dewelar (talk) 04:23, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Nomination of Mike Megrew for deletion

A discussion has begun about whether the article Mike Megrew, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mike Megrew until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 16:37, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

JD or J. D. ?

If his name is JD, without the periods, then how come his page is located at J. D. Closser? --Muboshgu (talk) 03:22, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

He legally changed his name to JD awhile back... You'll notice that's how he is referred to on the mlb site... I tried to move his page but it wouldnt let me for some reason...[1] Spanneraol (talk) 03:55, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Gotcha. We should put in a requested move using that citation. --Muboshgu (talk) 04:11, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Harry Burrell (baseball), and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.lion-head.com/area/1914/10.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Season infobox

Not sure what happened. TDL's version was OK, but then Isaac Lin created a different version, and then...things kind of petered out. Maybe people were expecting further discussion before making the change? -Dewelar (talk) 16:24, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Looks like you answered your own question -- the template's not protected, so just do it yourself :) . -Dewelar (talk) 15:24, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Dates

Interested as to why you changed all the date formats on Trent Oeltjen? JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 00:39, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

They were different than the date formats used on all the other baseball player pages... someone had changed them from the original format at some point. Spanneraol (talk) 01:05, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Not that it was me, I just noticed your edit and thought it was a bit odd. There are quite a few baseball player articles with the date formats around the other way, it doesn't really matter and you shouldn't change the date formats. Just remember to follow WP:DATERET in the future. Enjoy your week. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 01:17, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Trent Oeltjen

Why did you change the date formats on Trent Oeltjen? WP:DATE and WP:STRONGNAT would suggest doing otherwise, as there is no 'MLB date style' guidelines on Wikipedia. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 03:01, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Wait, we've already discussed this. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 07:43, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
Fine, you guys can keep your funky Australian dates and the article can be different than all the others... Thats the problem with Aussies... they have to be different... geez... I'm tired of arguing about it. Spanneraol (talk) 21:39, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Infobox mlb player

Hello Spanneraol. Sorry for my english, I had to translate on google.

I imported this template to the Spanish wikipedia, but I failed trying to insert the Statistics section as you can see the diference here and here. Could you try to insert it for me, thanks--Inefable001 (talk) 23:44, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Sorry I do not explain well.

What I want is to insert the word Estadísticas in the statistics section. I hope you understand me--Inefable001 (talk) 23:55, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry.. my spanish and i'm not the best at these templates.. perhaps you could ask someone else?Spanneraol (talk) 00:30, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Ok, thank you anyway--Inefable001 (talk) 03:04, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
There was a consensus a while back to link teams and years only once. I was unaware that there has been a new consensus since. Duly noted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.3.22.197 (talk) 09:48, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
I've been doing as you said, but there is an editor, Dewelar, who has been doing it differently, and seems interested in getting in an edit war with me. Take Rich McKinney, for example. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.3.22.197 (talk) 22:03, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Herb Jackson (baseball), to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 20:46, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Nomination of Justin Orenduff for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Justin Orenduff is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Justin Orenduff until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 16:52, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

The article Jesus Castillo (baseball) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

per WP:BASE/N #6 - hasn't played in the major leagues, can't find significant 3rd party sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Matt Kemp's son

I had written that Matt Kemp has a son named JoJo and you deleted it because of "poor sourcing." However, I had written it because during the Home Run Derby when Kemp was up, they showed the child, said that it was Kemp's son, and the boy kept saying things like, "Go daddy!" I just found the video of him in the Home Run Derby, and rewrote about his son under his personal life section using the video as a source. I found the child's name in the descriptions of photos of the child (one with Matt and another of just his son) from Matt Kemp's cousins Twitter account and used these as sources also. There are many, many private type photos of Matt and his son labeled with the son's name as JoJo. I've also seen a video of Matt and his son before I just can't remember where I saw it. So all of this to say that I am absolutely positive Matt Kemp has a young son named JoJo and adding the video as a source proves that it is his son and the photos prove his son's name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BaseballChick16 (talkcontribs) 03:36, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

You really should find a text source online somewhere. Those twitter pictures dont identify him as Kemps son and Twitter isnt a reliable source in any event. I cant find any bio of Kemp that mentions he has a son. Spanneraol (talk) 03:44, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
