November 2011[edit]

Hello and welcome! I'm a bot created by another editor. I wanted to let you know that I removed a link that you recently added to the page St Peter's Cathedral, Belfast here. I did this because http://www.facebook.com/stpeterscathedralscholacantorum is probably inappropriate for an encyclopedia.

Even though Wikipedia is strict about having appropriate links, we really appreciate your help. If I made a mistake, feel free to undo my edit. If you have any questions, you can ask at the Help desk. --XLinkBot (talk) 15:18, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at St Peter's Cathedral, Belfast with this edit. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Stpetersbelfast) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is St Peter's Cathedral, Belfast. Thank you. WikiPuppies! (bark) 16:22, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copy-pasting from cathedral website[edit]

I notice you recently added back large amounts of information to the St Peter's Cathedral, Belfast article. Unfortunately this was copied in its entirety, word-for-word, from the cathedral website. It had been removed once already because it was a suspected copyright violation. Unfortunately Wikipedia views copyright violation seriously therefore you may be best advised to find a more productive way of improving the article. It is not really appropriate or helpful to mirror the cathedral website - after all, a link is already provided to the webpages.
If you wish to improve the Wikipedia article, it is always better to summarise the key points of your source. Ideally look for unbiased information from independent, authoritative sources (I see an architecture book is listed - do you have a copy?). Hope that helps!
