Rescheduled Colorado Wiknic[edit]

The Great Colorado Wiknic 2016 has been rescheduled from June 26 to August 7 due to a conflict with Wikimania 2016. My apologies for the inconvenience. I hope you can join us on Sunday afternoon, August 7. Yours aye,  Buaidh  21:55, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

Source titles[edit]

Hi! It would be highly appreciated if you added titles to the sources on Deaths in 2016. It feels unnecessary that other people should have to fix it every time.Nukualofa (talk) 17:52, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Unfortunately I cant. This has been going on a while. Some people took it on themselves a number of years ago to move to simple citations, which many of us feel is plagiarism in this day and age. There are a few reasons why some of us feel this way- The very people we depend on for news and information are the ones that are left out of the citations, which isnt right. Some of us hold professional accreditation and have fiduciary responsibilities and it is very much a gray area that we dont want to be dragged into. And a few other things. But the long story short is that I have offered to do full citations on my work if it is not touched. However there is always an editor or 2 who feel differently. I do references on the rest of my work in Wiki, its just I cant on the Deaths page because I know it will be fooled with.Sunnydoo (talk) 18:00, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
I see. In my opinion, full citations would be better than no titles, but with the way Wikipedia is, I guess you can't demand your refs not to be edited. Can I at least ask that you don't change sources that already have titles? Nukualofa (talk) 18:09, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
I dont usually unless 2 things occur- #1 there is a better reference out there usually with a CoD and #2 if there is an English reference out there instead of an alternate language reference. Those are the ones I usually change. WWGB owes me more than a few so he usually just runs a Bot program at the end of the day that does all of the references anyways.Sunnydoo (talk) 18:14, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

LaVon Crosby[edit]

Hi-LaVon Crosby, Nebraska politician died on July 27, 2016. Her name is listed at July 23, 2016 in Recent Deaths and needs to be moved to July 27, 2016. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 11:32, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Many thanks for doing this-RFD (talk) 16:39, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
Not a problem. I found a couple more Obits that have been published within the last few hours...they are all saying the same thing that Wednesday was the DoD. I put it in on Wednesday, but it got moved and I have no idea why. Also thanks for picking up Cotty. There is another on the 21st you may want to take a gander at...William Hickey Jr. Cheers.Sunnydoo (talk) 17:04, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Re: Dave Schwartz[edit]

Agreed. And I'd never experienced a traffic-link problem like that before, so I had a feeling I was out of my league but forged ahead anyway. Thanks. :') sixtynine • speak up • 02:36, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Scale of justice 2.svg Hello, Sunnydoo. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
