Could at least help

I saw you took a huge edit on the Clockwork Orange reference page. I know they aren't sourced but rather than just removing it and eventually someone else will just add them in again, might actually help to find sources which can be used rather than expect others to find them. Just saying. I did not see your message, no, and now that I have, I see my error. On first glance, it is hard to see the difference between that page and a DAB page. I find this troublesome. The anonymous user's infrequent use of edit summaries made matters worse, and then his accusations that I was vandalizing angered me. So, all around, a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding. Unimpeder

Thanks for your note on the reference I thought of adding to note 83 in the article on Augustine of Hippo. But when I tried to edit ‘References’, I came up with a simple page containing References {Reflist|2} I put the proposed addition in as Reflist/83, and this produced a complete mess. That was a good solution, though I’m still not clear on how one tries to edit footnotes. I’ll learn.

However, I have not been able to get to Burke’s text through the Communio link (and in any case I think one has to pay for a copy). One possibility is to take the existentialist cat to CFD (can't do that with surrealist since there are films that fit that definition) as, with most things philosophical, there is no way to get to a set of criteria for inclusion that all can agree on. Shining

I actually already left a message on the talk page of the user (first message ever) User_talk:Gordonsta2 querying about the same thing, directly asking if the diary had been published, and explaining WP's 'verifiability, not truth' policy. I also thought it might be the original Stainforth. If so, he should publish this stuff elsewhere, then he could cite in here on WP. I grudgingly left the edit in, but I think if anyone at all is challenging it, it should go.

It will be the second time someone directly involved has edited a Kubrick-related article. Objecting to the mischaractization of his views by Julian Rice (cited as fact in an older version of the article), the real Jason Sperb did some IP-anonymous edits of the Stanley Kubrick article, which were a bit over-zealous. Later, when he posted on the Talk page, we reached a highly acceptable compromise. I contacted Jason Sperb through his web-site, and verified it really was him. Of course, this was after he had claimed on the Talk page to be Jason Sperb. I'm a bit reluctant to contact the real Stainforth saying "we think this might be you...".

Unrelated. The Swedenborgian House of Studies in Berkeley, CA has posted my Master's thesis on William Blake on their website. I guess that means I can cite myself on Wikipedia now.--WickerGuy (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi again. You reverted the trivial (unsourced) addition to Good,Bad,etc just before I did. I think that it is funny that everyone thinks that the Morricone riff (the first one that I can remember for sure was in Kelly's Heros) that they hear is from a specific film. Thanks for the reply. We've been having yo-yo temps. Below zero for 48 hours and then it warms up enough to snow and then bounces right up to the high 40s and everything starts to melt. Gives me time for DVD watching. Just watched one of my favorite twin bills last night. First up was Powwow Highway from the late 80's it was produced by HandMade Films. Then comes Smoke Signals made about a decade later. Though they can be watched separately they are connected, for me, by powerful performances by Gary Farmer in each. Re: your category question - no I haven't seen them - I don't look at CFD very often so I've missed anything that you've brought there since the Existentialist films thing. Glad you like PH. I love the city of Santa Fe NM and have been visiting it since my parents started going there in the mid 60's. So I like watching all of the scenes filmed there. They are a bit like a time capsule for me because several of the roads and buildings have changed over the years. I'll try and get over to CFD before the weekend is over. Cheers. Hah - what a coincidence. NNW - I think that is going to put you in the area of Abiquiu where Georgia O'Keefe spent part of her life. If so the drive north to the little hamlet of Chama is gorgeous. If you get to SF I can highly recommend the food at Cafe Pasqual's [2]. One of the greatest treats anywhere in the world is 10,000 Waves [3]. The town also had one of my favorite movie theaters. It was called the Jean Cocteau. It only had seating for about 50 people. It also had a coffee shop with with seating for about 20 and a fireplace! Sadly it closed a few years ago but it was a special place to see a film. The Santa Fe Opera House [4] is a gem in the desert. The final scenes of last years Crazy Heart were filmed there. I can also warn you about a couple of things. You'll probably feel the altitude change for the first week or so and the climate is drier than your used to so drink lots of water. Also be ready because you will be seeing beautiful sunsets and rises almost every day. Does this mean that you will be taking a break from editing here? MarnetteD | Talk 18:20, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

OK just a couple more. Its a little farther away so you may not have time to get to it but the little town of Chimayo, New Mexico has a few things worth seeing. It is a 30 to 45 minute beautiful drive northeast of SF (you can also get there by going east of Espanola but the drive isn't as pretty) and has a wonderful restaurant called the Ranch de Chimayo [5]. The El Santuario de Chimayo is worth seeing and rug weaving is one of the features of the area and there are lots of little stores selling them. Also I should mention that Truchas, New Mexico is just up the road from this town and that is where Redford filmed The Milagro Beanfield War. MarnetteD | Talk 18:42, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Let's see - exploring, reading, writing and being in northern NM - I'm not sure that life could get much better. SF has several nice museums both in town and in the foothills just east of town. My favorite is the Wheelwright [6]. I too love TMBW especially Ruben Blades performance. He has a scene with Chick Venera "Jose Mondragon" towards the middle of the film. They are gazing down the valley and CV says "its beautiful isn't it?" and RB replies "it sure is" (wording not %100 accurate) I wanted to shout at the screen "Damn right - its northern New Mexico" but didn't because I respect my fellow moviegoers :-> Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Silverado

This is one that I would take to the film project for more input. There was a discussion about putting the cast into the plot section recently but I can't find it at the moment. I think it came down on the side of it being okay but I can't remember that for sure either. You might ask User talk:Erik as he is one of the coordinators of the film project. The item about the DVD release is definitely not lede material and I have removed it. Mentioning DVD extras at all and Amazon links are also dodgy as they smack of advertising the product. I have found that some projects seem to be okay with it and others aren't but again I can't remember what the filmprojects stance is. Hope that this is of some help. Saw your post

Hi RJ. Just saw your post on the film project page and thought I'd drop off a couple thoughts. First, the whole thing looks like one of those pages by someone who loves messing around with tables. Not really all that useful IMO but I'm sure that others would disagree. As to the combining question I don't think that there is a definitive answer. Some articles have them together like this one Jonny Depp#Filmography. Personally, I don't like them because the make the table look sloppy. For someone who has a slew of awards and nominations I prefer a separate article like this one List of awards and nominations received by Helen Mirren. Of course, that doesn't work for someone who has a small number of awards. I'll be interested to see what how others respond to you question. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Cats (not the musical)

Thanks for the note. I would almost suggest opening a thread on the film talk page asking that there be a set criteria for a films inclusion in these cats but I suspect that it wouldn't go anywhere. The one thing that I can point to is the guideline that any cat added to an article must be mentioned with references in the article. That would justify removal of the cat from an article where an editor added it just because they thought it was a "surreal" (etc) film. Hope that your cold is going away. Hello, I followed up on the contributions of Johnandmitchy (talk · contribs). Apparently he added File:Altmanpressconference.jpg to Shelley Long that he claims is his own work. Since he had added that non-free screenshot that he claimed was his own and in the public domain. I'm also investigating his other contributions, and it seems like he has used the poster template with some non-poster images. Any chance you can help figure him out?
