Nikola Vukanac (Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Вуканац, born 11 January, 1986 in Belgrade) is a Serbian football defender who is currently free agent, having been released by Birkirkara.

Career[edit]

Vukanac began his career with Zemun. In 2008-09 season Vukanac moved to the Slovak team Rimavská Sobota then joined Vranov. Vukanac decided to go Malta to join Birkirkara but in that time he couldn't join because the club reached the limit of foreign players. Subsequently he moved with Vittoriosa. He made his debut with them in 3–0 defeat against Sliema Wanderers and Vittoriosa relegated to First Division. In the following season, Birkirkara player Ronni Hartvig had to retire due work commitments, thus Vukanac joined Birkirkara and won the Maltese Premier League with them. In UEFA Champions League qualifications, Vukanac netted goal against the Slovaks MŠK Žilina.^[1] In 2012-13 season, in the decisive game between Birkirkara u Hibernians he scored his 10th goal for the club and helped Birkirkara get the national championship for the fourth time in their history. On 2 August 2013, Birkirkara announced that the contract of Vukanac wasn't renewed as the player wished to continue his career outside Malta.^[2]
