Welcome![edit]

Hello, UnwantedWitness, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:UnwantedWitness/sandbox, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! -- EN-Jungwon 13:10, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:UnwantedWitness/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- EN-Jungwon 13:10, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

January 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:45, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I didn't know that our username contradicts Wikipedia's username policy. I didn't receive any compensation from Unwanted Witness Uganda. I would like to change the name to CybLoner and promise to comply with the username policy. I intend to create more Wikipedia pages and contribute to the generation of high-quality content.

Decline reason:

Those topic areas fall squarely within your conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 16:02, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

It was my first time creating a Wikipedia page and in being so, I made mistakes like using the name of the organisation that I wanted to create a page for. I promise to learn from my mistakes and the first one is to change my username to 'CybLoner'

Decline reason:

One open request at a time, please. — Daniel Case (talk) 08:13, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wikipedia has articles, not pages. What is your association with the organization? 331dot (talk) 10:24, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am doing an internship at the organisation. @331dot:
Pings do not work unless you sign your posts with four tildes(~~~~), which you should do with all talk page posts(there is an on screen button that looks like a scribble that performs the same function as well). Please note that an internship, even if you receive no money, counts as "paid editing" under our rules, so you will need to make a formal paid editing disclosure(please see WP:PAID). Please also read conflict of interest. What topics do you intend to edit about? 331dot (talk) 13:00, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I'm learning. Kindly shade more light on what you meant by 'topics'. All I wanted was to create to create a simple article for the organisation.
Wikipedia is not a database that merely documents the existence of a topic, nor is it a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves. This is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion, called notability. An article about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. To be permitted to indirectly edit about your organization, we will first need to see a good edit history showing that you understand relevant guidelines about content and contributing it by editing in other, unrelated areas. Are there any other topics you want to edit about. 331dot (talk) 14:20, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for these clear guidelines. Yes, topics that I can edit include; data protection, privacy and digital rights in East Africa. UnwantedWitness (talk) 15:58, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your paid disclosure belongs on your userpage, using the {{paid}} template - not {{connected contributor (paid)}}, which is meant for article talk pages. I have moved your paid disclosure to its correct location on your userpage.
Just so you're aware, your unblock requests have been declined, so you have no active unblock requests. If you want to make another one, you are free to do so. However, in a new unblock request, admins will want you to clearly promise not to edit topic areas that are related to your organization. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:20, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Going forward, I will not be editing any article for an organisation or company that I work for.UnwantedWitness (talk) 07:11, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Voice of Clam (talk) 06:54, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@UwantedWitness: Because you did not use the {{unblock-spamun}} template and include a new username, your newest unblock will be declined unless you correct it. You must change your username in addition to promising not to edit articles related to your employer. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:43, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
