Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Urquiaga8. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Chris Urquiaga, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:28, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
Your attention needed at WP:CHU

Thank you for your effort at contributing to the Wikipedia, especially if you are a newcomer. The Wikipedia community owes its newcomers a lot, and continues to value this as per policy and per practice.
That said, the article you created at Chris Urquiaga seems to be erroneously placed, as it seems to consist of information you give about yourself. I have therefore moved it for you to your user space, which is the best location for a user's information about themselves in the first place.
Don't be upset: this is a common mistake.
If you really did mean to create an article about yourself, please be aware that this is often considered a bad idea, even if you do meet the guidelines for inclusion of biographies. Writing about yourself on Wikipedia can result in significant damage to your reputation, as it's a conflict of interest and widely considered to be an abuse of the project. As a technical note, an autobiographic article is usually eligible for deletion without further discussion under criterion A7 in the criteria for speedy deletion as an article about a real person that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject, or under criterion G11 in the same list, obvious advertising or promotion.
I know Wikipedia can be confusing for new editors, so you are welcome to ask for help at the help desk or on my talk page. Guy (Help!) 00:11, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
