File permission problem with File:Sebastian Janoski Profile pic.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sebastian Janoski Profile pic.jpg, which you've attributed to www.SebastianJanoski.com. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:07, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Thanks for your message.

  • It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, or they will be deleted. You need to provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that he meets the notability guidelines. You have attempted to do this, and it is not the reason for deletion, but to help if you recreate. Sites that can be self-edited, like IMDB, are not satisfactory, nor are merchandising sites, and nor are sources that are using interviews with the singer, rather than independent reviews
  • Although you use newspapers as a source, which is good, most are to a single local newspaper. If he is nationally notable, then I would expect articles in a range of newspapers from across the US, not just his home town. Also, working with notable people doesn't make him notable, notability is not transferableHowever, he might be notable, so I wouldn't have speedied on that basis alone.
  • I deleted it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact, or referenced to poor sources include: known for his unique Blues-Pop fusion sound... loves to use his Talent [sic] to benefit the public... extremely musical family.... surrounded with the love of music from birth... the legendary... People hearing the song have been known to feel he brings a raw, natural sound to Sebastian's music that no one can deny is nothing less than spectacular...— it's a mixture of press release and gushing fan worship
  • You selectively quote only positive comments, nothing negative, and most of those are verbal comments said in his presence rather than proper reviews. I don't see any sales figures or chart placements to justify his claimed notability.
  • A couple of minor points if you recreate. Just one external link to his main page, no social media links here please. His nationality in the infobox should be US, you have confused this with background, unless he really does have Polish and Irish passports too.

I'm prepared to restore the deleted text to a sandbox for you to improve if you wish to try again, let me know Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:06, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Draft:DEStech Publications, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.destechpub.com/about-us/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Hi VCoppola, thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. To start, please see Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. Any of the references that are not from reliable sources should be removed. One of the expectations for sources is that they have a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. So for example, rivenmaster.com, which seems to be the blog of a single author who may be promoting the subject, would not appear to be a reliable source. Blogs generally are not accepted as reliable sources. Beyond that, this draft seems to have issues with being a biography of a living person as well as notability. See WP:BLP. The sources should be independent of the subject, so avoid references to when the subject puts out a press release or to events organized by the subject. For the purpose of establishing notability, make sure that sources cited cover the subject with some depth. You may want to avoid references where the subject is merely listed or briefly mentioned.
There are many articles that are inappropriately created, and often they are deleted. If you see ones that are as you described, you can nominate them for deletion through WP:AFD.  B E C K Y S A Y L E 16:40, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Sebastian Janoski requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.sebastianjanoski.com/about-sebastian/ and http://rivenmaster.com/sebastian-janoski-extraordinary-talent-on-the-rise/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The file File:DEStechLogo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Uploaded for Draft:DEStech Publications, Inc. No other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 02:00, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
