A RickK barnstar for you

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Dude, two choices: take a break, or stop using huggle so much (you're clogging up AIV, and reverting above the speed limit!). · AndonicO Hail! 02:47, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I haven't actually been checking my edit rate. huggle falls back to client-side rollback when the rate-limiter is hit, so I don't even know when I'm speeding. :D I am taking a break right now to write a dissertation on the Muhammad image controversy, though, so that should give everyone a chance to catch up. :P Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS: What's "..."? That heading's not going to make much sense in my archives, is it? ;-)
You have over 11000 edits. As for the Muhammad edit war... I tried to mediate that around a year ago, and obviously failed miserably. :( · AndonicO Hail! 10:01, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, hard to believe I only had ~7,000 a few days ago, isn't it? :D To be technical, I meant I haven't been checking my edits per minute. But that's a minor point.
Perhaps you should get more involved in the debate that's going on now? I wrote a lengthy comment on it. There seems to be one user who is incredibly active on that page who seems to have every other post, practically. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 10:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah... take a break though, you'll burn out. ;) And no, I'll not get involved in the debate... doesn't interest me in the least (I signed up for mediator because it was the only available case). :P · AndonicO Hail! 12:03, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

747-8 Marketing/Sales performance

Hi Tuvok,

The reason I deleted the paragraph pertaining to marketing/sales performance for the Boeing 747-8 is because it makes no mention of the Boeing 747-8 in the paragraph and thus is not particularly relevant to the article. In addition, the paragraph talks about the decision of one airline (British Airways) which opted to order the A380 but since there are many other carriers out there who may order/have ordered the plane which the paragraph doesn't talk about, I thought it would be best to remove it alltogether.

Thanks 99.238.137.107 (talk) 06:49, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well-written, polite, shows understanding of what's going on on this site, and (most importantly ;-) logical. Reversion reverted (already done by you) and warnings (mine and DeadEyeArrow's) deleted (also already done by you; you fast, dude!); sorry for any inconvenience. Cheers! Thank you for making a report about Punksucks (talk · contribs · block log) at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn against, and report vandalism. Your report was not a case of obvious vandalism, and as a result, the user has not been blocked and the request may have been removed from the page. Next time please use Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents for reporting a complex abuse or refer to Wikipedia:Resolving disputes if you have a dispute with the user. Thank you. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 08:17, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thanks. I'm still trying to figure out why huggle reported that user, actually. It was on automatic, so there shouldn't have been a report. Should I email Gurch about the apparent bug? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 08:27, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose. I don't use Huggle so I'm not familiar with how it functions, but informing the creator/programmer about this would be beneficial if it was an error. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 08:30, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Huggle is still in development, so we should expect some bugs. However, what Huggle really needs is namespace filtering. I've accidentally reverted quite a few legitimate edits because of this. --Ixfd64 (talk) 11:13, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the barnstar. You're doing a pretty good job, too! :) --Ixfd64 (talk) 11:06, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't you ever sleep? Good work, and thanks for reverting the ever so lovely edit to my userpage yesterday. Wexcan (talk) 14:10, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure. I've gotten my share of stuff like that. Thanks for the star! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 14:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I liked that puzzle thing; very nice! I certainly don't want to link the page, since it might give other people a clue. Then again, they could just use Special:Prefixindex, but that would be cheap. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 15:34, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is no need to revert war in this article. We are having RFC and I must say that your revert has been from Croatian POV version to Serbian POV version. Until now in this edit war there is sort of agreement that neutral version is having 16002 or 16094 bytes (users: Scarian, Toddsst1, GCarty,Kirker, Laveol, Animate and myself) --Rjecina (talk) 19:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not taking a POV, don't worry. I was going on the edit summary of the reversion previous to mine, which said something about reverting POV, which is a trigger for me. I'll try to ignore the article; thanks! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:52, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You english is better of mine. Can you please on talk page of this article create Vote section and call for voting on this 3 versions [1] , [2] and [3] of article. Maybe this will solve problems. I do not believe in that but lets try. After Vote section is created I will inform everybody who has edited article during this edit war. --Rjecina (talk) 20:00, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I personally don't think a !vote will solve anything. Wikipedia is built around consensus, so a good discussion between all the involved parties would probably be better. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 20:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the revert on my userspace! :) That vandal was mildly offensive, to make an understatement. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 09:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling

I corrected 'tranquility' to 'tranquillity' on the Silent Pool article - how is that vandalism? What did I do wrong? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr squelch (talkcontribs) 06:47, February 8, 2008

'tranquillity' is not the proper spelling. That's why I reverted it. Usually, users who are intentionally changing several spellings to incorrect versions are vandals, so I used the Revert and Warn button. Is that a British spelling I've never heard of? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 12:51, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see, I'm new to this editing business; 'tranquillity' is the British spelling, I usually leave British-American differences alone, but didn't realise that was one (and besides the article is of a place in Surrey ;) ) Thanks! Mr squelch (talk) 12:56, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if it's a place in Surrey, that would make it British, and the article should probably use British spellings. I'll be right over to your talk page to delete the warnings, then filter through my contribs and undo the two (or whatever) reversions I did on you. Cheers! For beating me at reversions about a dozen times in the last five minutes. You must be using something even more powerful than huggle! Keep it up! (Even though it frustrates the heck out of me to keep getting beaten. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 14:33, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Response and conversation below here.
Thanks, that slowed me down a bit :) (But I'm only using Huggle!) Waggers (talk) 14:34, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion Boards

Hello, I am reading my discussion boards in Spanish and see other people putting pictures on the page (like you do). I was wondering if there would be anyone willing to tell me how to do that? -Angelo (MCoOL Student). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.71.42.231 (talk) 15:56, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My pictures were coded into my template and pasted into the HTML edit window. I'm using the same technique now, just with a single image (a small icon). The files themselves are hosted on my Google Page Creator account. It should also be possible to use any image- or file-hosting service to do the same thing. Technically, it should be possible to upload images to Blackboard as well; I'll get into that after the generic instructions.
To add an image to your post, you have to have the rich editor turned on. If you expand all three toolbars, you'll see there is a picture icon in the second spot on the third bar. Clicking that pops up a window that asks you for various details. The only one you need is the first part; choose one of the options there. If you have an image hosted, just enter the address of the file (which should be available on the image's page). If you want to upload one, click the Browse... button and then the +Item button near the top of the window that pops up. You can upload a file from there, and it will be inserted.
Let me know if you need more specifics. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 16:48, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank's man that worked! I can't do that with my emails to can I? -Angelo (MCoOL Student). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.71.42.231 (talk) 17:04, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not if you're using the school system. Gmail, the email system I know, doesn't provide a way to insert images from the toolbar, but you can hack around that by composing in Word and using a copy and paste to put it in the message. That trick could work for other services, too; I don't know about Hotmail. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 17:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why the deletions?

Ok, i understand the part about deleting what i did with death metal and city of evil, but why did you delete the article Brock Crutchfield? thats me, and Eternal Expulsion, thats my band. why cant i just put my name on here, without you deleting everything? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brockovich61493 (talkcontribs) 11:46, February 8, 2008

I actually can't delete anything right now; I'm not an admin. I can, however, speculate as to why your articles were deleted. If you made no assertion of notability in either of them, that's probably the reason. Creating an article about yourself doesn't help; Wikipedia discourages creating autobiographies. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 17:55, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So basically you just erased my 20 minutes (lol) in a way it was disney related anyways are you saying that there is nowhere i could have put it.?

Not on Wikipedia, at any rate. I don't think there's a general forum for random discussion, though there might be a Village Pump for it... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 05:56, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you do find a place to post it, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, you can always find it in the old revision of the page, located here. This is wiki; 99.99999999% of everything that happens in the past, present, and future is viewable by someone (even if only admins). ;-) You only lose access to deleted articles; page histories are like diamonds until the page is deleted. Wikipedia does not tell the "truth"; we cover what is verifiable. If you provide references for your edits, nobody should revert you. Unless you're misrepresenting the references and they don't actually prove what you're inserting. But that's another can of worms... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 06:34, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What was deleted? An article? The text you added? Can you link to it (check the history tab if you can)? I can't answer much without more info; I make hundreds of edits a day. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 08:38, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind the above, I just visited your talk page. The article was deleted because it did not assert why it is notable. Your edit was probably removing a speedy-deletion tag, which I must have re-added using the Revert & Warn button rather than the Revert with Summary button. That's my bad for not explaining it. Googling your username

Oh Wow.... That's funny. I found lots of Wikipedia and blogs (Or blog responses) on there. But it actually seperated the most relevant. That's cool, tho. Vorik?

Hey bro. Have you ever heard of a character called Vorik? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bkovice (talkcontribs) 22:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed I have. He doesn't get much exposure, though. Tuvok works on the Bridge; why would I want to be a junior engineer? :P Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 12:34, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just me or did he seem like a very unhappy man?Bkovice (talk) 04:06, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now that you mention it, he did seem a bit more somber than Tuvok. He was younger, though, so perhaps we could call it "Vulcan angst"? :P Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 04:55, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did you ever play that star trek voyager F.P.S. called Elite Force? What'd you think of it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bkovice (talkcontribs) 00:42, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning Star Trek: Voyager: Elite Force? That's one of about five games I've played in my life, actually. I'm not much of a gaming person. ;-)
I liked the game, though; that and Star Trek: Armada II. I remember near the beginning there was that superheated gas leak under the shuttle bay, and I would always try to run through it. I succeeded a couple times, too, but always ended up with dangerously low health. Only months later did I discover the little door on the top level to go across in a maintenance shaft. :D Reverting vandalism is an easier game, I think. ;-)
Of course, no game would be complete without cheat codes, and the Quake III engine has that console to put commands into. I mostly used give all to get all the weapons and full ammo, etc. God Mode was also nice, though I tried to avoid it. Cheats are more for mindless playing, rather than trying to actually beat the game. I did beat it normally before using cheats at all, actually. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 00:50, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah you can spawn any character you want, and they start owning the people on the bridge, but for some reason you get blamed for it all haha. Yeah I stopped playing video games. I decided that I'd rather just get out and do things in real life.Bkovice (talk) 00:57, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The game isn't really a simulation of anything, which is what got me. The only things you can really do are the things that are in the game's script. That makes play really boring, since you can't decide to go on a rampage and kill your away team, then join the Borg and assimilate Voyager. If anything goes wrong, you get blamed, and for the dumbest reasons. The only really fun thing is the virtual Voyager or whatever they called it, from the Expansion Pack. I initiated the self-destruct in that a couple times, which is fun, except nothing happens; you just lose, without even an explosion. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:01, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Haha i like the way you think brotha! But they released an expansion pack in which you could just explore or do whatever you want. No stupid missions. I think you'd actually enjoy it a great deal.Bkovice (talk) 01:06, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hence the virtual Voyager comment above. :P Like I said, that one doesn't really let you do much, either. You still can't punch holes in walls with a phaser rifle or blow up the warp core with the photon launcher. The physics engine is quite lacking, though that's understandable for a game of its era... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:09, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh gosh I feel stoopid now. Sorry about that! Do you really wear a schwa sticker? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bkovice (talkcontribs) 01:15, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No harm done; perhaps that should have been a wink rather than a tongue stuck out. ;-) No I don't wear a schwa sticker, but I probably would if I had one. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:18, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Have you ever encountered vandalism that just made you laugh?Bkovice (talk) 01:20, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen way too much vandalism to remember any specific instances, but one of the funniest things vandals do sometimes is take one of the warnings they received for vandalizing and put it in articles. Which of course just gets them more warnings. I think it's so incredibly pointless to paste warnings from your talk page into an article. That's my POV, of course. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:23, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Voyagerfan5761. I can see that you reverted the edit by Sevvles before I did. I'm not being rude, but I was also trying to revert it. If only I was a little bit faster...

And is it alright if I call you Tuvok? SchfiftyThree 02:32, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tuvok's fine with me; I did choose the nickname, after all. ;-)
So what are you saying here, anyway? That you'd like me to wait a few extra milliseconds before each revert I make to give you a chance? :D I lose enough edits to the bots as it is. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:35, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah well, when I saw the edit, I immediately clicked the (diff) button and it said it was the current revision. I clicked 'Rollback', and then it said "Unable to proceed. Last reverted by Voyagerfan5761." (something like that) This has happened before; other users who reverted edits before I did include ClueBot, VoABot II, and a few other rollbackers. One time I did revert an edit by someone who blanked the public domain article. It's all right. SchfiftyThree 02:42, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, "the bots". Deep down, I love them; but when I'm on patrol and one of them beats me to a reversion by milliseconds, they're really annoying. :D I've had similar things happen with Keilana, AndonicO, Aitias, Waggers, and a host of others. It's all just a race to see who can get to the button first, and who has the fastest Internet connection and computer. :P Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar Award

Hi, I noticed the hard work that you are doing in reverting vandelism (I noticed that originally because you beat me to about 50 vandel reverts :P) so I decided to give you a barnstar for your efforts :). Enjoy!

I award this Barnstar to Voyagerfan5761 for his heroic work fighting vandals and for beating me to reverting vandals countless times Mifter (talk) 14:45, 9 February 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks,--Mifter (talk) 14:45, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goodness, another one? I'm overwhelmed! :) I just guessed at this one's name; is it "Original Barnstar"? My awards subpage is formatted with specific headings for each star, each containing vitals about the award (star name, awarder, date). I had no name to go on for this. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 00:13, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry about the confusion about what type of barnstar it is, I guess that it would count as a variant of the original barnstar, I got the Barnstar from Wikipedia:Award templates , I took the last one and changed it slightly to make it applicable to you so I guess it is kind of a cross between the original barnstar and the RickK anti-vandalism barnstar :P. Thanks,--Mifter (talk) 15:04, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your warning

You placed a warning on my talk page, could you explain? The first time I reverted my edit sumary was lost, but I included it the second time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.170.231.243 (talk) 05:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You explained that your edit summary was lost, and that you are not banned. That didn't explain the deletion you performed. I see now that at least part of what you removed was a sort of personal recollection, which shouldn't have been in the article, so thanks for that. Next time, if you provide an edit summary explaining what you're deleting and why, your edits shouldn't be reverted. IPs that provide useful edit summaries are rarely vandals. I'll be over to knock off the warnings (that's delete them) and ping you to give you a new messages bar regarding this reply. Cheers! Glad to have a(nother) non-vandal IP contributing! :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:24, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to remind you to warn, wait for the user to break a final warning, then move them onto AIV. Twice today I've removed reports of yours that were not sufficiently warned. In the case of SDT84 (talk · contribs), which you reported at 00:54, the user never received a warning until 00:53 and, as you'll see in the contributions, hadn't edited since 00:23. Remember, a user must be active and must be sufficiently warned prior to being reported and blocked. Thanks, Metros (talk) 01:01, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed that huggle occasionally reports users who have only received one or two warnings. I'll have to start paying closer attention to my AIV diffs, I guess. *Grumbles about bugs in automated programs* :-/ Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:04, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas and leaving messages

Thanks for reverting the edits by 74.78.30.145 on Christmas. In the future, after warning a vandal, please leave a message on their page. See Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace for different messages you can leave. Thanks, Enigmaman (talk) 01:27, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't leave a message on that user's page because the edit was trivial, wasn't a test, wasn't vandalism or spam; it just wasn't relevant, IMHO. In hindsight, I should have used an edit summary, but a message on the user's talk page didn't seem necessary. I'm assuming you mean I should leave a message on their talk page after reverting them, right? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's what I meant. There are a lot of different warnings to give, and if it merits reverting, it probably merits a note on their page too. Makes it much easier to get people blocked if they keep adding the same message. Otherwise, after their next unconstructive edit, the next editor to revert it will see an empty Talk page. Enigmaman (talk) 01:37, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can I leave an honest comment here? It's rather emotional, and I only want to say it if you're OK with that. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:39, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I'm another Jewish Star Trek fan. Good to see we have something in common. :) I'm assuming 5761 is a reference to the year 5761.Enigmaman (talk) 01:39, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I don't mind. What's on your mind? I was just trying to make things easier in the future. Enigmaman (talk) 01:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Despite the nickname, I'm not free of emotions. ;-) (Glad to see that you're a Trekker, BTW.) Here goes... It's somewhat off-putting to be pointed to WP:UTM after spending nearly two years here. I've used Twinkle and huggle, with a little VP, and even left warnings manually. I like to think I'm pretty familiar with the user talk message series. I remember before they were unified into uw-*... I suppose I should just be glad you didn't use {{uw-warn}}, right? (Which would violate WP:DTTR ;-) And yes, 5761 refers to the Hebrew year. I think I wrote about that on my userpage somewhere... I'll have to check. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:47, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure you're a very experienced and knowledgeable editor, but I don't have time to check each user's edit history and experience before leaving a message. Your point is that you know what I'm telling you. OK, I also don't like to be told things that I already know. But it would be easier for everyone if you could add the message to the Talk page. One of the huge problems Wikipedia has with vandals is that vandals very often are not warned, thus making it more difficult to get them blocked. If you don't want to warn them, I can't make you, but I was just asking as a favor. I spend most of my time here reverting vandalism and trying to get vandals blocked. Thanks, Enigmaman (talk) 01:51, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I spend most of my time reverting vandals, too. Glad to know you understand what I'm feeling. :) I understand your position, and I don't have any hard feelings as a result of your comment; as you said, you can't spend time checking the edit history of every user you message. I'll continue warning the blatant vandals, and I'll start leaving customized messages on the pages of users I revert for other reasons who keep repeating the same edit. I hope I haven't caused you any undue stress, or made you dislike me; I just had a really intense burst of emotion, and felt I had to express it. I do hope to run for adminship at some point, and I've seen your name everywhere here. I can only assume you participate at RfA, too. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:58, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I also hate to be told things I know, so I might have had the same reaction you did. I'm glad you understand also. :) There's no reason for me to dislike you. I'm glad I got the message across and I hope there are no hard feelings from you as well. You received a disproportionate amount of my "message", because this has been building up for a while for me, and I finally decided to start leaving messages. By chance, you were the first. Thanks again for your help and I hope we meet again. Enigmaman (talk) 02:07, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, no hard feelings. :) See you around. Glad we didn't let this be a stumbling block to harmonious editing! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:11, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested Semi-Protection for your Userpage

I requested Semi-Protection to your Userpage due to vandalism. :) ClanCC (T / C) 01:48, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those facts are true about the alumni though, so that still counts as vandalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Movingsolution (talkcontribs) 02:03, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, if you're inserting names and calling them "Best" something. Without a reference, it really does look like you're just promoting people with no cause. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:09, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Popups glitch: You or the script?

Original comment left on User talk:Compwhizii

Hi! I just noticed this reversion[4] you made a few minutes ago. Is there something going on with Popups? I think it's supposed to be putting values into those $x placeholders... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:17, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm pretty sure its poppus(or whatever is caleed :P). I don't like it that much anyways. Compwhiz II(Talk)(Contribs) 02:21, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Thanks for the revert [5]. :) Jmlk17 03:01, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Coral Reef Page

Hey, I'm not vandalising the coral reefs page I'm fixing spelling mistakes and increasing the accuracy of the information of the page. Deleting information that is inaccurate or irrelevant is not vandalism. I do have a back round in Marine Science and I feel that my contribution to this page is fair and valid.

It tends to raise a red flag when you delete large blocks of content... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 05:58, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox fixes

I was trying to use your friend userbox, but it wasn't working with the template you provided. I looked at the source for your userpage to see how you got it to work, and found the problem. I fixed by replacing the <Code> you had there with this with: {{User:Voyagerfan5761/UBX/friends with|name=FriendUserNameGoesHere}}. The edit I did can be found here. Daedalus (talk) 05:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Er, here right? Thanks for fixing it! I had no idea my directions were off... I guess I forgot to change the directions I copied and pasted from the old MfD'd template. (That's why it didn't work, BTW; I got that box out of an old template before it was deleted.) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 05:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ahhh, heheh, well, tis fixed now :D Daedalus (talk) 05:57, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For consistently beating me in reverting vandalism over the last half hour or so. Keep up the good work! --Diniz (talk) 21:47, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh boy oh boy, another award for my page! Thanks! If you want to escalate the competition, you could always email Gurch about huggle... That's what I'm using. If you've ever used VandalProof, huggle is 1000% better. For instance, it doesn't stop updating the RC feed after one refresh. :D Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 21:51, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ha ha - I'm on old-fashioned reverter, without any tools. ;)--Diniz (talk) 21:53, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I go back to that on occasion, just to remember what it's like. I shudder every time. huggle's a new toy for me, though, so I'm probably using it with a little more zeal than I will once I get used to it. Thanks again; happy reverting! I'll try to leave some diffs for you to catch. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 21:57, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gosh darnit, you're a speedy one. I enjoy a good vandal hunt (really just about the only thing I do here), but I can so rarely beat you to the punch! An award well earned, my limitted experience indicates. Vianello (talk) 20:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
:D I love wowing people. ;-) Except now this section will be on the page for another week... :-/ :-P :) (Gah! Smiley overload!) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 20:56, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Active status tab

How did you get it? Daedalus969 (talk) 07:33, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm using a modified version of a status-switching script that adds links to my user-bar (where it says "Daedalus969   my talk etc."). They go to a subpage of my userspace that is automatically updated by the script. The tab itself comes from User:Voyagerfan5761/StatusText, which is called by User:Voyagerfan5761/Status with a parameter to activate one of the statements in the #switch. /Status is then included on my talk page and userpage. You want help setting it up, or is this easy-peasy stuff? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 07:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Help would indeed be nice, if you are able to, as in not too busy with things. Although I have been here quite awhile, there are still things I have yet to understand here. Daedalus969 (talk) 07:42, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I found the instructions, written by the script's creator. Here you go. Let me know if you still need help. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 07:46, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, it seems I have no idea what I'm doing at all, even with the help. Would it be possible for you to just edit the respective pages so they are the same as yours? They are: Status, StatusText, and of course, Monobook. I'm pretty sure you know what the suffixes and such are, if there are any. I didn't put them so people could just go there and mess with things. Daedalus969 (talk) 08:17, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're going to have to add the script yourself to your monobook.js subpage. Only the owner and administrators can edit those, and I'm not (yet?) an admin, so you'll have to do it. Take out importScript('User:Misza13/statusChanger.js'); and paste this:
/* Misza13's Status Switcher Script */
// Modified by Voyagerfan5761 for some minor improvements

addOnloadHook(function (){
  var subpage = "/Status";
  var scheme = "/StatusText";
  var linkprefix = wgServer+wgScript+"?title=User:";
  //Add the links
  addLink("p-personal", linkprefix+wgUserName+subpage+"&action=edit&newstatus=in", "In", "pt-status-in", "I'm in!", "", "pt-logout");
  addLink("p-personal", linkprefix+wgUserName+subpage+"&action=edit&newstatus=busy", "Busy", "pt-status-busy", "I'm busy!", "", "pt-logout");
  addLink("p-personal", linkprefix+wgUserName+subpage+"&action=edit&newstatus=out", "Out", "pt-status-out", "I'm out!", "", "pt-logout");
  if (location.href.indexOf("&action=edit&newstatus=") == -1) return; //Are we here to auto-edit the status?
  //Get new status
  statusRegExp = /&action=edit&newstatus=(.*)/;
  status = statusRegExp.exec(location.href)[1];
  //Modify the form
  document.getElementById('wpTextbox1').value = "{{User:"+wgUserName+scheme+"|"+status+"}}";
  document.getElementById('wpSummary').value = "Status update: "+status;
  document.getElementById('wpMinoredit').checked = true;
  //Submit it!
  document.getElementById('editform').submit();
});
I'll create the subpages for you and populate them, then check on your monobook.js page if you post back to let me know you're done. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 08:22, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help, the monobook page is modified, I hope I did so correctly —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daedalus969 (talkcontribs) 08:27, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done with subpages. I'd place a {{db-userreq}} on User:Daedalus969/StatusTemplate, as it's redundant to User:Daedalus969/StatusText and won't work with the script as it's set up above. All you need to do with the script is delete the third line (importScript('User:Misza13/statusChanger.js');). Then try out the links after bypassing your cache. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 08:34, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Something must be wrong, the 'out' 'busy' and 'in' links arent apprearing —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daedalus969 (talkcontribs) 08:46, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(undent) If I use your script, I get a syntax error. I located a problem with the script; delete everything from /* Misza13's Status Switcher Script */ to the end and re-paste the code from the source box above. Some parentheses and brackets got messed up for you somehow. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 09:07, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, its working now. Daedalus969 (talk) 04:20, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also,

I'm using a modified version of a status-switching script that adds links to my user-bar (where it says "Daedalus969 my talk etc.").

, I was wondering what script you had that did this. Daedalus969 (talk) 04:52, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The script you pasted from the box above should add those links for you. Are you asking about the 'in', 'busy', and 'out' links, which you should have visible? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:37, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh... I thought that was some time of script that displayed the status of who was currently reading/modifying your talk page or the like.. Oops.. Daedalus (talk) 21:26, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I was writing it so what I said would be what you see. Mine says "User talk prefs watchlist contribs in busy out log out" and then a clock. I have a script to shorten the labels of a lot of the links in the interface. And of course our user names are different. Would you be up to writing a script to monitor my talk page? That would be cool if I could see who's on my page... :D Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 21:29, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I don't really know if I could even do such a thing. Like I said eariler, still getting use to things here, meaning I don't know that much about coding. Btw, it shows you're currently offline... D: Daedalus (talk) 21:39, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, also, how do I get my talk pages archieved when needed? Daedalus (talk) 21:42, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I often neglect to update that tab. I know it's just a click, but I go online and offline at a moment's notice, so it's hard to keep it updated. I should really look into one of the status bots that are roaming around... Meanwhile, I'll click the in link.
Would you like me to set up archiving for you, too? I did it for Matthewedwards a little while back. Check out my archive structure and see if you like it; I'd just copy mine and set yours up the same way. MiszaBot III for archiving, HBC Archive Indexerbot for an index, and the same directory structure and archive box as the one I use. Let me know, Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 21:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, that would be great when you find/if you have the time, thanks for all the help, really. Daedalus (talk) 23:18, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you're still marked as offline... Daedalus (talk) 23:24, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(undent) I'll set it up in a minute. I was marked as offline because I was, then. ;-) I just hit 'in' now that I came back, which should satisfy your apparent quest for accuracy. :D Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 23:48, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhh.. hehe.. Thanks for that, also, I actually suceeded in making a small modification to my status script, which allowed a small link called wikibreak. I'm sure you know what it does. Daedalus (talk) 05:21, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know, I set up archiving for you. Check it out, make sure you like the layout. :) MiszaBot III should be along in about 22 hours to do your first archival. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 16:37, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, forgot to mention. When your archive page fills up, you'll have to add the new one to your list manually. Fill in the date ranges so people browsing your archives can approximate where their comments ended up. (You can go with a completely different labeling scheme; date ranges is just what I prefer.) I recommend to watchlist each archive as it is created. MiszaBot leaves an ARCHIVE FULL in the edit summary when an archive reaches its maximum size, so you'll know when to add the next one. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 06:10, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
